Multiplayer Customization

Would you like to create you're own character in GTA V or RDR style with storyline characters and a bunch of peds.

Discuss.

For multiplayer, having a combination of both selectable characters and the ability to customize these characters outfits to your liking would be a nice idea in my opinion, with a leveling up system similar to that of Red Dead Redemption that allows the player to unlock different multiplayer outfits and characters as they level up.

Algonquin Assassin

I'd like the option to create my own and having pre-selected models. Also like RDR I'd LOVE it if you could play characters from the story and from previous GTAs.

Maybe there could be a set for GTA III up until GTA IV. Imagine a posse of Tommys, Claudes, Nikos, CJs etc? cool.gif

Also famous NPCs like The Truth, Woozie, Diaz, Pegorino, Salvatore etc.

It needs customization like this:

Yup, IV ones were so limited a few jackets and helmets... Could of been alot better.

To be fair GTA IV was R*'s first attempt of MP for current gen. They probably had other things on their mind concerning the functionals than the customizing.

I guess, let's hope that there's face morphing so every character doesn't look the same.

One of the most popular components of San Andreas was the ability to customise Carl to a very large extent. In a sense you could choose the way you played; make him a skinny guy who runs everywhere, a brick sh*thouse who could knock people out with one punch or morbidly obese for the comic value. On top of that you could choose from a wide variety of clothing, and give him some pretty eccentric hairstyles. However, what was gained with further connectivity with the character was lost with less connectivity to the story – it was hard to take Mike Toreno seriously when you had pink hair and no shirt on, with you man breasts bare for all to see.

GTA IV was much more of a character piece, which I preferred. Niko’s story was deep, and the seriousness of the plot would’ve been made redundant had we been able to drastically change the way he looked. As much as I didn’t mind about changing his structure, it did make the gameplay more linear and the amount of clothes available was very disappointing. This let down many and when producing wishlists for GTA V, further customization is often near the top.

I think that there is a perfect medium for the two, polar opposite wants: customization in the multiplayer. This was vastly missing from the multiplayer of GTA IV, as all you could change was the appearance, which was extremely limited.

What if Rockstar built upon the solid foundation that was the GTA IV multiplayer, giving us a consistent, developed character in the single player and a fully customised multiplayer

character?

The way I imagine the set-up is similar to the multiplayer of Red Dead Redemption - you start off in a free mode, a fully recreated Los Santos from the single player, either with other online players, with your friends or just by yourself. Here you could fully change his or her clothing, hairstyle and overall appearance by visiting a wide range of shops.

But it’s not only changing the way you look.

It’s changing the way you play. Think of it as creating your own class.

Here you can go to the gym to work out and make yourself slimmer and stronger to give you an edge in running away and facing up close, or adversely go to a Burger Shot and pile on the pounds to give yourself a real challenge.

You can work on your vehicle stats, perfecting your skills behind the wheel of a car or a motorcycle, or the stick of a helicopter, to help you win a race or get out of a sticky situation. You can work on your weaponry abilities to build upon the core gunplay and rack up the points. You can fine tune what speciality your player has right here.

It is also where you can create havoc on your own, or with friends. In GTA IV it felt quite disjointed when Niko talked about how he hates killing people for a living, and then five minutes later mowing everybody on the pavement down with your car. In this free mode there’ll be every aspect of the single player world – the police etc – but with your custom created character, and potentially your friends as well.

And then like Red Dead Redemption, it is from here, using the interface of the mobile phone, that you will be able to enter various matches of deathmatch; Mafiya Work; GTA Race etc. And put your skills to good use. In these matches you will be able to play your own way, and see a diverse amount of different play styles due to the multiplayer character customisation.

This is my opinion on a thread I made a couple of weeks back:

Customization similar to that of SA would suit me fine in V as long as we don't have those long intervals between watching them sport a coat and watching them take it of and put on another one. However in multiplayer I'd like to have the option to pick from storyline characters, create my own and so on . Oh and I completely agree with Miamivicecity about being able to play as characters from past GTA games, like Redemption did with Revolver.

Now should we also have the ability to wear occupational and special clothing called "suits"?
