However, when it comes to THE ONLY INFORMATION ROCKSTAR HAS RELEASED, also a large amount of people thoroughly disregard it. Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created. A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California. THERE. It says it RIGHT THERE. "Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches" They explicitly state it is one city and its own surroundings. So why, oh why, oh why do people STILL insist on saying "there's going to be more than one city". No there will not. If there was more than one city Rockstar would have said so, or at the very least they wouldn't have just mentioned one. I can hear an argument already coming: "But San Andreas also only showed Los Santos in its opening trailer but then San Fierro and Las Venturas came in later trailers". While this is undoubtedly true, we can debunk the fact that this will be the case for GTA V by delving into the depths of the gtasanandreas.net news archives, specifically the first news item: the announcement. On his return to the neighborhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets. You see that? It clearly mentions an entire state of San Andreas in the announcement, before the first trailer was released. So there, no multiple cities. Boo freakin' hoo. But the insistence of denial in the face of proof is not only incredibly annoying, it is made even more so by the fact that many of the same people complain about the lack of news. Even if we put aside the fact that Rockstar's statement makes it perfectly clear that there will not be any additional cities, it still doesn't make sense to me how people believe this would be possible. To have a city the size of Los Santos with the intricate detail and realism of GTA IV's Liberty City plus a huge countryside surrounding it is already ambitious enough. But to think they would have three cities at that level of detail with enough countryside in between to have the cities realistically spaced apart... It's not possible at this level of detail. And it would be a huge waste of space. Los Santos and surrounding countryside is already going to be the biggest GTA map to date. They are clearly focusing on Los Santos and giving it the same treatment they did Liberty City in GTA IV; doing it justice as they can with current gen tech. I agree with the O.P. on every point, and to answer the question of why people continue to bitch and moan in spite of clear and definitive statements direct from Rockstar, the answer is quite simple. They are immature, mentally unstable children with the self awareness of gnats. It does'nt matter WHAT info comes out, they will continue to act like retards. This is from gtav.net: It's Los Santos and the surrounding countryside - and a very big map. If it was a simple list, there wouldn't have been the dash. Houser's evasive response in a later interview is enough for me to know they haven't told us everything... whether or not it means LV and SF or something else is entirely different. Because this is an internet forum. Because speculation drives conversation. Because R* games and especially GTA games are intentionally vague and mysterious all the way to release date and beyond.
