RockStarNiko
How large does the map need to be so that you are not disappointed? Originally I was thinking I hope Los Santos is about 2x as big as Liberty City in GTA IV plus we have huge countryside area to explore so it ends up about 4x as big as Liberty City in GTA IV But, after browsing youtube, I saw a video of a similar game to GTA IV (not mention name in case against rules) In this video the player travelled in a jet plane across the map and it took ~7 minutes So I decided to see how long it take a Maverick to go from the most eastern point near Francis International to the most western point in Tudor Alderney Time was ~45 ingame minutes which is ~90 seconds real time The Plane was going much faster than me in my Maverick too, I estimate the Jet could have made same journey in around 60 seconds, maybe even less This other game was around 7x bigger than GTA IV So, I now hope GTA V is at least the same size as this other game and is maybe 7-10x larger than GTA IV Liberty City When GTA V finally comes out I hope to fly a Maverick across the entire map and this time instead of it taking 1.5 minutes, it takes 15 minutes! I be very disappointed if it takes only 3-4 minutes or something

Da Perzinga
I think the map will maybe 4x bigger than IV Liberty City but not much bigger. PS Sorry for my bad english
senor_huevos_benedicto
I'd say the city itself should be at least the size of Liberty City, if not twice the size, and then add a lot of countryside surrounding that.
C2H5OH
Optimistically i would say i hope for a map 5 times bigger as Red Dead Redemption´s map. But I think it´s realistic to say it could be 2,5 times bigger then RDR.
Zeichef
It's not against the rules to mention another game. I take it, the game in question is Just Cause 2. Yes the map in JC2 is HUGE, but it's really empty and lacks details. I assure you it's nowhere near as detailed as LC in GTAIV even if the latter is so much smaller. I'd be happy with a LC twice the size of LC plus detailed countryside of the same size (probably larger since a city is so dense). LV and/or SF could be smaller though... Hell yeah the map is huge 400 square miles but I agree that it lacks details and feels somewhat empty this is of topic but I always get an eerie feeling when driving a boat across the water toward another part of the island mostly when it is day time especially diving its pretty weird
pdbq
how long does it take for a shamal to cross SA? anyway SA size would be fine, im more for quality over quantity
HOTMILFDAD
As much as I am hoping for a big map, I don't want it to be too big. It'd be too much of a pain to go from one side to the other, especially in a car!
AfroCrew2022
how long does it take for a shamal to cross SA? anyway SA size would be fine, im more for quality over quantity I think it takes a good five minutes with a plane but it's most likely because they are slowed down considerably and the sensation of speed is probably just an illusion with the clouds etc

Isuck100%
Just Cause 2 lacks detail. It's just a bunch of copy/pasted towns spread out across copy/pasted landmasses. It looks pretty, but there is not much depth to it. A game with such intricate detail as GTA V will not be anywhere near that large. I'd say one block in GTA V's Los Santos will have more detail than entire cities do in JC2.
sonnyBlack
I'd be happy if Los Santos is around the same size of Liberty City, and adding in the countryside the entire map would be a bit bigger than SA. Hopefully my expectations aren't too high, they seem reasonable to me.

Lioshenka
I want a huge map, but if you come and think about it - original SA map was big enough to entertain me for about 4 years. And after that it was fun to play. I would love to see a map 10 times SA. But speaking realistically I am thinking we'll get something about 4 times bigger than the original SA. JoanCrawford
It needs to be rather large, but not as big as JC2. That was just frustrating.

Slamman
THREE TIMES AS BIG, since re-reading Aaron Garbut's comments about GTA IV, he said the last GTA was three times bigger, so they should be setting a similar target me thinks!
TheMechanic
Rdr sized country side, lc sized los santos, plus an alderney sized second city would be good balance if its as detailed as IV. Putting them on opposite sides if the map would make planes useful.

Durden
I'm expecting the map to be 2x the size of SA, with Los Santos being 75% of that.

cp1dell
Hopefully as big as Liberty City, but with countryside. I don't want anything too big. Has anyone seen that fake map? That huge with with lots of countryside, and a huge city with many roads? A lot of people say they would love it if that was going to be the actual map, but that is just too much. You would never be able to learn the city very well, there would be literally too much to explore. I would rather have the size of Liberty City, with loads of detail. MARKUS.
When you think about the size of Red Dead Redemption, WELL, GTA should be bigger then THAT map, not any previous GTA map in comparison You think that Red Dead Redemption's map is huge because you're travelling with a horse, but if you do with a plane it wouldn't be too big, seriously I hope that is 2 times bigger than San Andreas' map
