Introduction

It's a long time ago that we did a contest... After winning quite a few awards AND reaching almost 16 500 missions and 400 storylines at our site, it is time to organize another contest. This time the theme is "2012 - The End of the World".

Goal

The goal of the contest is off course to create the best mission using "Design Your Own Mission". Things to keep in mind are originality, playability and difficulty. You should challenge the players of your mission, but they should not get frustrated. If your mission is ready, you should upload it to our mission upload site.

Theme

In this edition the theme is: 2012 - The End of the World. Be creative, but use this specific theme. We are curious about what you make up!

Jury

The jury, consisting for the fifth edition of PatrickW, Chimpso (if he wants to, seeing he is the winner of the fourth one), Dutchy3010 and myself, will choose a number of missions from all submissions and from those mission everybody can choose the top 3. The mission with the most votes will win the contest. The winner will be part of the jury for the next edition of the contest if he wants.

Schedule

You can submit your mission until March 8, 2012. All missions will then be reviewed by the jury, which will present the nominated missions within a week. After that everybody can play the nominated missions and name their favourites. This will be possible for a week after the nominees have been made public. After this week the mission with the most votes is declared winner.

Submit

You can submit a mission for the contest by uploading it to the mission download site and post the following information in this topic:

Mission name:Mission description:Link to the mission:

Everybody can submit two missions, when you submit more than two, only the last two will compete.

Reward

The most important reward for everybody that enters the contest is off course that you can claim to be a GTA mission designer. The author of the winning mission will be invited to become a jury member for the next edition of the contest and you will be in the Wall of Fame!

Finally

Good luck, and, above all, have fun! wink.gif

This is after the main storyline missions are done at 100% game completion.

CUTSCENE:

You, the protagonist start off in your apartment; getting up from bed. You flip on the television and hear the news about a disease spreading across south-western United States moving up north. You flip it off and head out the door. While heading outside, a familiar face is waiting for you at your doorsteps - it is one of your friends.

You say "Hey!" while reaching out to greet him. He attempts to bite your arm off and you pull back immediately.

<END CUTSCENE>

GAMEPLAY: You can choose to either knock out your friend or kill him.

CUTSCENE:

After neutralizing your friend, you look up and see many army helicopters heading into the city. You head for your garage to get into your vehicle.

<END CUTSCENE>

GAMEPLAY: You are to follow the helicopters and see what is going on. You run over and shoot at many zombies at once.

CUTSCENE:

When you arrive at the waypoint, you are concealing yourself and seeing multiple soldiers heading into a local police station. You see one peculiar soldier, fully armoured and carrying what seems to be an energy weapon. You whisper to yourself "Damn!"

<END CUTSCENE>

GAMEPLAY: You are to fight your way into the police station, or you can sneak past the officers firing at zombies attempting to enter the station. The armoured soldier, defeated; tells you the weapon was being made during the 90's, but due to the compromise of Area 69, they stopped the project in fear of the enemies retrieving it. It was started again in 2008 and completed two weeks ago. You retrieve the weapon.

CUTSCENE:

You walk out of the police station, weapon at hand and prepared to destroy anything in your path.

GAMEPLAY:

There are now territories you must take control of. Not only must you liberate the regions from zombies, but you can befriend survivors and you can rebel against Government forces. Territories are constantly being attacked by zombies and Government forces and you have a chance to lose territories. Once you get all territories, you are rewarded with a specialty jet used for bombing purposes. The army attempts to take control of the city and you can stop them if you wish, but doing so will result in a never-ending war.

This is not mission designing like this. You must use DYOM mod...

Single mission. icon14.gif

Still, you are allowed two different missions.

Only one mission will be choosen as the best mission. Does that answer your question?

EDIT 2:

Still, you are allowed two different missions.

Interesting theme, although it may be a bit difficult to implement it using DYOM. I will see what I can do.

A question, you said there are two missions allowed. So are they supposed to be related, like the first mission stops at a certain point in the story and the next mission picks up from there and finishes (like mission packs) or are the two missions supposed to be single missions, each with completely different storylines which are unrelated to each other?

I am not going to join this, simply because I know that I will get really competitive, and when I loose(which I definitely will) I will take it personal and then I will get hostile against everybody that have beaten me...

So I don't join this, but good luck everyone, I hope that the jury will look at the missions and not at the mission designers... icon14.gif

What I said was sh*t....

Of course they 'll judge in a fair way.

Just look at the jury.

Patrick, Dutchy, SP (and maybe Chimpso)

Who doesn't look fair to you?

The DYOM creators or 2 of the best members in the DYOM section.
