paperbackmummy
I don't know much about video games in terms of the way they're created, and since info on V is so scarce at the moment I was thinking of what I could deduce about the game from what little we already know. So I was wondering, what is the process Rockstar North follows in creating a GTA game? I figured if we could outline a general procedure we could guess what percentage completion the game is. I know there are a lot of people on here more knowledgeable with this process than I am. If you link to any R* North interviews where they talk about this, cookies for you. I'm thinking, generally: - Scout location - take pictures, draw maps and outlines - Build city - with reference to census data, traffic patterns etc. - Write story, characters, missions, script out all scenarios - Hire voice actors for characters/radio personalities - License songs to appear on radio - Mini-games, side missions and collectibles - Beta testing? (Also, I don't even know what alpha testing is.) - Polish and perfect - Release! So let's talk about the process and gain an idea of what we can reasonably expect they've accomplished in the last four years!
tommzy2
Decide to start making GTA V in late 2007. Scout location = December 2007 - Feb 2008 Build City = March 2008 - May 2011 Writing Script = Jan 2009 - May 2009 (remember, they get paid for making the script, so they spend alot of their time on it) Hiring Voice Actors = June 2009 - July 2009 Recording of the Voice Actors = August 2009 - October 2009 Applying Script to ingame Engine = June 2011 - May 2012 Licensing Songs = December 2011 - April 2012 Recording of Radio Personalities = May 2012 - July 2012 Minigames = July 2012 - August 2012 Polish and perfect = August 2012 - September 2012 Mass Production = September 2012 - Games Release Beta Testing Starting From Jan 2012 until 3-4 weeks before release Sometime october 2012 = Release. ... profit. Gtaman_92
I think they do this. 1.first they think of a location then they scout it out. 2.then they write the characters and the story. 3.they then build the game 4.finally they make sure its bug free. Aesthetic
4.finally they make sure its bug free. I'm sure they did that with GTA IV PC.
Braindawg
Fixing some bugs can make others.... Just so you know. Besides it's a port to a completely different console. More bugs are DEFFINITE to occur.
EscoLehGo
here's the process 1. Announce new GTA 2. Put out a fantastic trailer 3. Watch fanboys squirm 4. Withhold info from fanboys to see just how crazy you can make these f*ckers 5. Release new info months after the trailer and watch fanboys cream themselves 6. Repeat steps 2-5 until GTA V hits the shelves

llpalm08
Alpha testing is testing done in house by Rockstar themselves, Beta testing is done by people who have no association with Rockstar. (Just thaught I would say as you said you didnt know what it was)

November 16 2009 http://www.g4tv.com/thefeed/blog/post/7007...and-theft-auto/ I'm positive Rockstar still hasn't finished with the recording of the voice actors/hiring voice actors. In GTA IV they weren't done with all the voice actors for 5 months of it's release. I'm sure they finishing up but not 2009 early.
