ZAZ
Well, the licence agreement says: You're allowed to USE the software for one computer Does it mean that i'm allowed to install the game also on my girlfriends pc but playing only either on my pc or on her pc ? If yes, what happens with the product activation? - activation on my girlfriends pc isn't possible - i loose the activation of my own pc - the product can be activated for both pc without problem If no, then i could give the game as a gift to my girlfriend for ever and later she could give me back the game for ever because the licence agreement says: I'm allowed to transfer the software permanent to another person as long as i don't keep any copy Does copy means also the gameinstallation? what happens in that case with the product activation? - activation on my girlfriends pc isn't possible - i loose the activation of my own pc - the product can be activated for both pc without problem CLEO MODS CLEO Script Tutorial
mkey82
Well, the licence agreement says:You're allowed to USE the software for one computer Does it mean that i'm allowed to install the game also on my girlfriends pc but playing only either on my pc or on her pc ? Practically, you're allowed to have 5 (at least in most countries) concurrent Securom activations and up to 10 (again, at least in some countries) GFWL activations TOTAL. Securom licenses can be revoked, GFWL can not. Securom will allow you play SP indefinitely, GFWL will, once exhausted, deny you from going online. For the other part look down. If yes, what happens with the product activation?- activation on my girlfriends pc isn't possible - i loose the activation of my own pc - the product can be activated for both pc without problem - it will be possible if you comply to above terms - you shouldn't definitively - this should be the case as long as you comply to above (or similar) conditions If no, then i could give the game as a gift to my girlfriend for everand later she could give me back the game for ever because the licence agreement says: I'm allowed to transfer the software permanent to another person as long as i don't keep any copy Are you sure the license says that (haven't read it, obviously )? If yes, then you're well within your rights to give the license to someone else. Does copy means also the gameinstallation?what happens in that case with the product activation? - activation on my girlfriends pc isn't possible - i loose the activation of my own pc - the product can be activated for both pc without problem The copy should relate to the software license and usage. The intention in this case should be to allow ONE user per ONE software license CONCURRENTLY. If you're allowed to transfer the license, then the only thing limiting you is the number of GFWL activations.
ZAZ
Unexpected answers, especially about the limitation of GFWL activations. I had problems with MP-access in the first year and had a phone call with GFWL. They said i should create a new account. I did that and also at socialclub to can fix the problems. I did that more times and if it should be a solution for people with problems they can run into a bigger problem. Are you sure the license says that (haven't read it, obviously tounge.gif )? If yes, then you're well within your rights to give the license to someone elseit belongs to the case to can sell the game (my licence, dvd, etc..) thx for reply, mkey82 btw. tricky avatar CLEO MODS CLEO Script Tutorial
radioman
Of coarse you can install the game on more than 1 PC, I have installed IV on my computer and my mom's computer and had no problems with activation issues....It doesn't make sense to only allow a game to be installed on only one PC, as some people have a laptop and a desktop, as well as people who get the game and play it, and then get a new and better PC....I have never seen a game that has this restriction(to only allow one PC install)? Also, since this question has come up, you must not have played GTA III, VC, and SA-lol I have those games installed on my old laptop, my desktop, my XP Pro laptop, and my mom's PC, and have not had any issues...Basically, as long as you have a User Account on the PC you are installing it on, you are good to go...I mention III, VC, and SA as they are created by the same company(Rockstar Games)..... Exxon
But the real question is: why would you give your girl a videogame as a gift?

ZAZ
it belongs to the case to can sell the game (my licence, dvd, etc..) Not sure I understood this bit. If you wanna sell it at ebay because of epileptic seizure, then your allowed to give the licence to another person I have the german booklet , and the last licene determination, below of index (j) means: You are allowed to give the software and accessories permanent(durable) to another person as long as you don't keep any copy of the software or accessories or parts of them and the new owner accepts the content and agreements. Thanks for avatar compliments, I like it too is it you or a soccerstar? CLEO MODS CLEO Script Tutorial

You obviously don't know who ZAZ is and what mods he has done. and You obviously haven't installed GTA IV on your PC. I installed 2 copies of the same GTA IV on my Brother's and My PC so we could make a video using LAN. GFWL was a bad choice for GTA. hopefully they will use Steam instead for GTA V
radioman
You obviously don't know who ZAZ is and what mods he has done.and You obviously haven't installed GTA IV on your PC. I know ZAZ knows A LOT about mods-I have seen the number of posts he has in the Mod section, that is why I never talked about mods, cause I know he knows A LOT more about mods than I do... Yes, I have IV installed on my PC-I have the Retail(DVD) version AND the Steam version installed on my PC(Patch 4 for the DVD version and Patch 7 for the Steam version) and I have the DVD version installed on my mom's computer, and have not encountered any problems with the game. Plus Live is not really a problem, as if you use Xliveless(created by Mkey-I think?) you can bypass the GFWL thing...I used Xliveless, cause it was the only way I could save, as everytime I tried to do it with Live, it always came up with the usual "update required.." I go through the update process and it still came up that way-4-5 times in a row..so, I just gave up, and used Xliveless and fixed that problem...Just a heads up. unc13bud
maybe it was already mentioned, but if the original poster is giving the game to his girlfriend, he is not going to play it online right? so he could just do the "offline profile" from the start and not have to worry with GFWL and their installation limits (and they are a pain, but i have to go get something to eat, so i don't want to start ranting right now)
mkey82
^^^ he obviously wants to keep everything nice and legal. ZAZ, that must be an expansion of the licence for the German market, I have to check my booklet (UK provenance) for that bit. Eduardo is his name, football is his game. I do like him, but not THAT way
unc13bud
my way is legal. install on two separate computers. use offline profile on both. use the physical DVDROM disc to enable play on whichever computer wanted. --- "Crepin N., Jan 30 10:07 (EST): Hello, Thank you for responding with the requested information. Your system is running on Windows 7 which is unfortunately not supported by the game. We are very sorry but we cannot assist you any further on the subject since the Game (which was released long before your OS) doesn't officially support your OS. Running the game on a non-supported OS can create issues like bugs glitches and even more serious system failures. We highly recommend you run the game on XP or Vista. Please understand that the game is not stable enough on Windows 7 to it to be supported. Here are the system requirements to play GTA IV:"
