it's okay, but I'd still prefer cheaper CPU and better GPU.

Something like I mentioned above - Phenom 960T + decent mobo (like ASRock 870 Extreme3 R2.0) + 4GBs of RAM + HD6850/HD6870.

2GBs of RAM is not enough, get 4GBs (RAM is cheap anyway). It doesn't have to be 1600MHz, 1333MHz will cut it. You can also get a cheaper power supply, you don't really need 650W, even proper 400W will do. What PSU did you choose exactly (brand and model)?

Yea it is 4gb

an PSU is Inter-Tech 650W, aPFC, 120mm fan

Maybe I take this? Codegen 550W ATX PSU, QoRi or well-known firm?

I was told that the PCU must be taken with reserve.

Codegen is just plain sh*t, do not buy it. As for the Inter-tech I've never heard of it before and chances are it's not so good too.

Does the store you buy your PC in has a website? If yes, please link to it, I'll check what's worth buying there. if not, then your best bet is to buy a 400-500W (that _includes_ a reserve) PSU from a reliable brand, such as Corsair, OCZ, Antec, Seasonic, XFX, BeQuiet, Fortron/FSP, Fractal Design. Other good brand include Thermaltake, Chieftec, Aerocool - though these three have also outdated PSUs in their lineup, don't buy these unless you're 100% sure it's an up-to-date design. Avoid Cooler Master, LC-Power and Xilence, since their cheap PSUs just suck.

I disagree, GTA4 runs fine on my rig with just 2GB RAM albeit I'm still using Windows XP. It might be a problem with Vista/7.

2Gb ram is enough for windows xp 32 bit. Even then, with the \3Gb switch, 4Gb ram is better. For a new operating system, windows 7 64 bit with 4Gb ram is a good choice.

Well, what I wanted to say is that RAM is so cheap nowadays that there's no point in getting only 2GBs. wink.gif

This one is OK if you don't want to spend too much.

Nice choice dude,i got a AMD 6870 sapphire, your 6850 will make you happy trust me,not only for GTA4

I run GTA4 constantly at 60Fps+ to 53Fps lowest ,on 1920x1080 ,with high texture settings and moderate viewfield.

But in the future i would get Intel sandy bridge cpu's,since they beat AMD cpu's in Gaming Benchmark Tests.

Intel i5 2400 4x 3,1 for example, low price but has a great performance, and brings like 10FPS more in several games.

but i guess you didnt had the chance to build your pc competly,so its still a good gaming PC wink.gif

(Just upgrade to 4gb Ram sometime) biggrin.gif

i want to bump this because i have been doing more testing, installing updates. getting this game to run without this weird stutter/frameskip/whatever has been such trouble... plus i actually hooked the machine up to a monitor that runs @1024x768 default.

i uninstalled EFLC (made sure to revoke. always revoke the install. kiddies), swapped the samsung 830 64gb for velociraptor 300gb. installed whopping 530mb update from biostar's site (still haven't changed bios from 9/13/2011):

gamor, a little friendly advice:

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. I cannot recommend you to pirate it; that is completely against the ToS.

However I can tell you this: This game is not optimized at all for PC. It's a sh*tty port and they haven't put time into fixing all the issues. You will crash hourly, have missing textures, and spend hours and hours troubleshooting simple things just to work.

i disagree. now is the perfect time to buy this game.

anyway, so the corsair xms3 was being recognized by the biostar ta75A+ @ 1333. fortunately, because newegg is discontinuing money orders as payment, i ordered some gskill ddr3 1600 as well ($40). the board recognizes it @ 1600. the auto overclock setting v12 is 3270 mhz. result:

You call seven patches and 2 years of support doing nothing? turn.gif
