brianiphone4s
I was just reading the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) Website and it says this about the RP Rating: "RATING PENDING Titles listed as RP (Rating Pending) have been submitted to the ESRB and are awaiting final rating. (This symbol appears only in advertising prior to a game's release.)" Now this would have to mean that GTA V has been submitted to the ESRB for a final rating. I realize of course that it can take a while for the ESRB to approve a rating for a game, but at least the first steps have been taken to do so. Comments? All I am saying is that it means that the game is in it's final development...nothing more...nothing less. It's not listed because it is still RP, and they only list games that have been given a final rating...but in order for them to put RP in the trailer, that means it has already been submitted to the ESRB for a rating...thus the core game is completed... You do have a point, I do recall other games that are not finished saying "not yet rated" so if GTA V says "rating pending" it must be closer to completion than we think. wolak2302
Dude... No one ever finished a game, I mean why do you think they're realising new and new patches?? This isn't even mentioned on ESRB. Trust only the information that R* publish, nothing more.
Pumpkin Zone
He does have a point, promotional material have "not yet rated" for a reason. It wouldn't say rating pending if it wasn't really pending. If they haven't submitted it, and show that it's pending, I do believe that's spreading false information and shouldn't be there. But regardless it doesn't matter much, we won't get it until after Max Payne releases so there's no sense in getting your hopes up yet.

This isn't even mentioned on ESRB. Trust only the information that R* publish, nothing more. I'm glad to see that most people cannot read or understand the post...IN ORDER TO SAY RP IT HAS TO HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED FOR A RATING, WHICH MEANS THE CORE GAME HAS BEEN SUBMITTED TO THE ESRB FOR REVIEW. "During the final stages of development and prior to a game being released to the public, game publishers submit responses to a detailed written ESRB questionnaire (often supplementing such responses with lyric sheets, scripts, etc.), specifying exactly what pertinent content (as defined by ESRB) will be in their game. Along with the written submission materials, publishers must provide a DVD that captures all pertinent content. This includes typical gameplay, missions, and cutscenes, along with the most extreme instances of content across all relevant categories including but not limited to violence, language, sex, controlled substances and gambling. Pertinent content that is not playable (i.e., "locked out") but will exist in the game code on the final game disc must also be disclosed." As far as I am aware if a game isn't submitted they just say: "not yet rated" GTA V was annonced via a teaser trailer. Who's to say the "RP rating" isn't just there because the trailer was intended as PROOF that GTA V existed; therefore, they just stuck a "RP rating" there?
