Traffic Laws

try playing the arrest warrant mod for pc. if you have gta on pc. then come back and make a judgement. i enjoy looking around if there are no cops to run a red light without being spotted, or speeding in a lone road then slowing a bit when i spot a police car coming by. it makes a simple drive to a point to another a little more entertaining. makes the game longer too, driving at max speed everytime will reduce the overall lenght of the game wink.gif

No thanks I don't want anymore mods!! BTW I think these realistic traffic laws only appear in modded GTAs right?? not real un-modded ones.. whatsthat.gif

maybe... The peoples who want traffic rules in game are the peoples who just cant drive the cars on the streets. So that they could do it in the video games. But i wouldnd if these would be in. More realistic, better for me .

actually i dont know if its speculation or not but some internet magazine which i dont remeber , which starts something like computer........com

has gived interview as they were writing , with EX-worker of R and he told some sh*t, that if you cross a red line, speeding and cops will see you they start chasing you

OT :

Also as there was writed some cool sh*t , like if you are on wanted lvl 4 police will translate trough radio stations about suspect , 6 stars will start chasing you wil military vehicles (probably attack helis , humvees , trucks)and if you loose wanted level from 6 stars , then ingame police will search for you ingame 72 hours that maches something like you, and some missions will be unavable , with 5 and 4 stars the same just on 5 stars 32 hours and special police forces chase you , with police hellis...sp cop cars , 4 stars 12h ingame cops chasing ,shooting etc..

So, throughout this entire forum, I've seen people ask for traffic laws in GTA V. So much so that I've decided to create this topic. So, here are the laws people want.

*No Speeding

*No Illegal Parking (Disregard this one, I think it was part of a joke thread)

*No Reckless Driving

*No Hit and Run

Now, I have to ask sincerely, why do you people want these? Seriously, I'd like to know. Was getting a wanted star for fighting, shooting a gun in the middle of nowhere, setting anything on fire even at a large distance out side the city, defending yourself from attack, and all of the other things just not enough? Now you want this?

Well, here are the reasons I have heard.

1. "It would make you drive better" This is the one that makes me feel like people just want to force me to behave like a regular citizen in GTA. Why? Well, what's stopping the people who use this argument from following traffic laws right now? I mean, really. Why do they need the added thing where police will pull them over if they don't? I don't think you people out there who use this argument really need that incentive. If you want to drive normally, then go ahead and do so, but I love speeding and crashing into people, so I'd rather do that without getting a wanted star every 5 seconds.

2."It's realistic" This, this right here, this is a real brick wall of an argument. Apparently, realism is like some kind of magic fairy bacon that makes games better, even if the type of realism is having to eat every half hour or die of hunger, or having to follow every traffic law in the book. Well, there are already driving simulators and life simulators out there for if you want to drive normally and fill up on gas and eat. Hell, there's even fallout new vegas with hardcore mode. Plus, even GTA IV still had hollywood movie elements to it. Sure, there was not much to do after the story, but there were some crazy ass missions. Would any of you watch a movie, see a 5 minute scene where he eats or fills up his car or even follows traffic laws and go "That scene was so fulfilling"? Well, I'll be honest, I know some of you would, but this is not that type of movie or game.

But I digress. I just don't want traffic laws in there because that would make the cops twice as annoying and the game more boring overall as you spend minute after minute watching ticket writing animations or even just spending an hour in rush hour traffic. So, again, why else do you want these in? I really need to understand why.

I completely agree with you!! GTA is about criminals and breaking the law! If people want it more realistic they should be playing the Sims. I'm gonna be pissed if when I finally play the game and end up getting wanted stars every 5 mins. I like the idea that the police will be a little smarter but I hope they are not too realistic. It will ruin the idea of Grand Theft Auto.

The sims doesn't have driving. A better comparison would be Grand Turismo 5 or 3D Driving Instructor.

I wouldn't like this! The good thing in GTA is that we have freedom! Usually I drive like a good citizen, but sometimes I like to speed up!!! I wouldn't like to have a cop stopping me from this! angry.gif

I wouldn't mind a few more traffic laws, just as long as there were less police cars. And it should only be police cars which can give you a wanted star for driving offences, so if a police officer standing on the street sees you then you won't get a star. It would add more of a challenge as well, it was way too easy in IV in terms of escaping the law.

And of course there's the realism aspect as well, I like the immersion and it makes the city feel more alive and like a real city.

True, also instead of the police trying to arrest you just for a driving offense, they should fine instead, just like Mafia II. I mean I don't see a reason to arrest just for scratching a police vehicle.

I'm putting this whole thing to the test now. Playing SA. The goal is to see what it takes to ramp up three or four stars, which is when the police response really starts pulling out the stops the way real-life law enforcement would do in a real high-speed chase through an urban area.

With no stars, I walk right up to the hospital in Market, Los Santos. I steal the ambulance that spawns outside, right as a motorcycle cop pulls in front. No star. I had to actually pull the ambulance out in the street and hit his bike with it to get the first star.

I started knocking light posts and other destructible things over (which never increased your wanted level in that game) and then start mowing down pedestrians. The ambulance can really get some speed and momentum behind it and it's quite good for barreling through people. Turns out nothing really serves to increase the wanted level this way until you start running over cops. As in, actively seeking them out and running them down.

This has the effect of having your car shot at a lot, since after two stars any police on foot or on motorbike will be firing at will. I managed to get a fourth star only after having a Greenwood, which I stole after they blew up both the ambulance and a Clover which I rode from East Los Santos to Grove Street, then I took Sweet's ride. I took the rampage over to Idlewood by the Pizza Stack where they managed to blow the car up and follow it closely enough to set off a chain reaction explosion that blew up at least two cop cars and no fewer than four cops on foot.

But had I at least been pursued with more force just for them serving and protecting the general public, they'd have brought the SWAT Enforcers out a long time ago.

We might say that it may be overkill to get two stars just for running two red lights, but surely there should be more ways that driving like a maniac can naturally run up a wanted level. If you really don't want wanted levels, there's a cheat for that.

Radar detectors could be cool to let you know when cops are around.

Think, time-limit missions? Traffic laws would be annoying then. You have to rush a friend to the hospital because he got shot or something.

Tailing missions? What if the light switches on you and he gets away driving like a maniac, because you aren't trying to get the cops' attention. Don't say, "they can deactivate cops on those missions." That sounds silly to me. You have traffic laws when free roaming but you don't on tailing or time based missions?

Well, there are missions or segments of missions where wanted levels are turned off completely. Here's a guide to them in SA. No cheating, this is hardcoded into the game script when these things happen.

During most of those segments you can even go onto the other islands, Area 69 or wherever and not get any wanted level.

What if there was a bounty system like in Red Dead Redemption?

If you got automatic tickets for running red lights and speeding (when seen by a cop) without getting stars, allowing you to carry on tailing a car for example, but when your bounty ... or unpaid tickets ... excedes a set value you occasionally get a cop or two trying to jump you. You could access your bounty in the menu or internet and pay it off, or bribe someone, eventually get a girlfriend who can deal with it automatically

I think I could still live without it though. Just driving Luis from his apartment to the club I would probably have built up a few thousand dollars worth of fines. But it would be a lot better than getting a star each time I ran a light, or was seen speeding. I'd have a battalion of tanks and a squadron of hydras tailing me by the end of the same journey if that was the case.

Apologies if this has already suggested. No time to read the whole thread.

We don't know what to expect. Maybe there'll be a cheat for it somewhere.

Who would want to be pulled over for speeding in a GTA game? Not getting pulled over for that is the fun part. If you want a chase, just hit a cop car, shoot, or run over people. Or play MCLA.

I wouldn't mind red light cameras though. They could send you a fine for passing them. Knowing the way I drive, I'd be n serious debt with all the fines I'd get. tounge.gif

Getting a simple one star wanted level for traffic violations doesn't mean it needs to turn into a high speed chase. Remember how easy it is to flee a single star? Most of the time I don't even have to try, I just get away naturally. Then I get to where I was going like nothing even happened.

The same would be so if traffic laws were added. Obviously not extremely strict laws, but laws that will make me feel like I need to watch out for the cops as I'm careening along the streets, approaching my next waypoint. The absence of being able to get in trouble for flying through town at top speed, or mowing down a blocks worth of street lights, hot dogs stands and garbage cans, just didn't ever sit right with me in IV. Why would a cop just shrug that off?

AI traffic needs to be able to get pulled over for all the same laws. In IV, the police really didn't seem to ever go after anyone but you. Playing SA recently, it was pretty cool to see a car being chased down by police. Then they caught him, he got out, there was a gun fight, he died and the cops packed up and left the scene while I swooped in and picked up the spoils. Seeing something like that in IV, would have been awesome. Sure there was a car pulled over on the main bridge every once in a while in IV, but that seemed unnatural even the first time I ever saw it.

While personally I'm against traffic laws being implemented except for getting fines for hitting a cop car instead of a wanted star unless of course you decide to run, IF R* for some reason do decide to include traffic laws, then they must show positions of both vehicle and on foot police, same as in gtaIV when wanted except at all times on the mini map to allow players to be aware and plan their route while speeding about, otherwise you will be pulled over ALOT!!! they would also need to fix traffic magically appearing both in front and behind players to prevent someone who is speeding or whatever from having a cop appear in front of them just because they checked behind them for a split second.

Anyone who played the driver series pre San Francisco will know the system Im on about.

It seems this topic is popping up again, so have at it. Tell me once again why I should get a wanted star every 5 seconds for speeding.

This is from July, there's no point bumping it up again...

Why the hell should I make a duplicate new topic when there's a perfectly good old topic to use? Seriously, where's this hate for old threads coming from? Is it because the protagonist might be an old guy or something? What's going on?

I honestly don't get people who want more realism in GTA games. Realism isn't what made past GTA's fun. If you want to fill up your car with gas so bad why don't you people buy your own car, drive it around, and then pay $50.00 for a full tank of gas. SO MUCH FUN!

Personally, I think the way it was in IV was fine. They don't care about speeding, parking, or anything, unless you hit someone (or them). I mean in Mafia II it was cool at first, but eventually it just became tedious that I had to slow down around cops. I'm usually one for realism, but somethings are different. I already have to deal with speed limits and parking in real life, don't wanna have to deal with it on GTA as well, lol. Maybe have a "hard core" mode where the cops DO care about that sort of thing, then everyone would be happy. I don't know. Actually I would like that, if I was in a mood to have that then I could just turn it on,. If not, then turn it off and fly down the street no problem. I guess that's better off being a mod for the PC version.

If you want that, play Mafia 2... It's basically GTA set in the 50's and they have those rules.. If you speed, cops come after you. Hit and run is basically reckless driving, and the cops come after you for hit and running on there, too.

It's basically GTA in the 50's with those added concepts. Don't try to ruin GTA with that crap. If you want that so bad, just go play Mafia 2....

I want less bloody rules. Was really pissed off when kept getting the stars in GTA 4 for merely pushing other vehicles with mine.

Making other drivers respect the lights and rules is a good thing though. Sometimes I just feel like driving abiding by the rules and it would help if everyone else in the game did the same.

I played GTA IV with this mod called TrafficFelony. Literallly every five seconds I was wanted and I wasn't even sure what I did. With that mod you were immediately caught no matter who saw you. I began to break MORE laws because, hey, they were gonna get me for changing lanes without signaling anyway. I don't know who plays GTA with that mod but I imagine they're the kind of people who never had library fines in their life.

Needless to say, I don't want that kind of traffic enforcement.

Oh man, I saw a video of that mod. The fact that your computer is not broken from being thrown out of a window indicates you have a stronger will than I, because if I had IV PC and that mod, that whole thing would be in the junkyard by now.
