Traffic Laws

What car thieves do you know that obey traffic laws?? Oh, i just robbed a car (drives up street), sh*t, red light, better stop!! lol.gif

You would be more at home playing a driving simulation game, then you can obey the law all you want.

Wise up please!! dozingoff.gif

im sorry but your logic is flawed, if I were to steal a car and get it to my buyer im sure as hell going to follow all laws as to not bring unwanted attention to myself. I think car thieves follow traffic laws, they dont want to get caught for something dumb like running a red light or speeding in a "hot" car. I think some traffic laws should be used in the game, just for that fact there. A true criminal would follow traffic laws until they got out in the country then your less likely to get caught anyways.

i was getting at joy riding, not stealing to sell, so its not flawed...

Either way it's realistic ;o

Even in real life, doesn't matter if you are doing a joyride, running a red light will get cops attention.

Fine, do it, but cops aren't dumb. They will still give you a ticket if you run a red light.

there are some realistic things that desrve to stay out of the game, like this topic.

do you not think it would be annoying getting pulled over all the time.

The only good thing to do would be, wait till the cop gets out to come to your window, when he gets to the back of your car, put the boot down..

exactly, and i didnt say that just for a person who steals to sell, even a joy rider isnt going to be dumb enough to speed and run through red lights. The belfast joyriders are a bunch of idiots, smart car thieves follow the law.

Unless they fix AI driving, im not stopping at a light for some prick to shunt me...then commiting a 187 on the poor c*nt. lol.gif

i admit it would be good but more annoying than anything else.

totally agree with you there, i hate when im hit randomly specially when im driving a truck full of explosives. It may be annoying but just because its annoying doesnt mean it shouldnt be in there. I know a lot of people who are criminal at heart when they play would love to have the cop approach there door as they pull out the pistol kill the cop and drive off. I dont see anything wrong with that, or when hes coming up to your car like you said drive away, or take the ticket its your choice but they will attempt to ticket you for these infractions.

Car theives would always obey the traffic laws; because if they get pulled over the cop's going to figure out it's a stolen car pretty quickly.

I think hit and run and maybe cops coming after you if they see you going ridiculously fast (>120 mph) would be good 1-star offenses, but anything more would be have to be option at the best.

I still want turn signals and more intelligent AI drivers, so I at least can pretend to follow traffic laws.

The only reason I could traffic laws being fun is if you can beat up the cop that pulls you over... because it would be kinda like going back to euhmm ya know.. doing you stuff you CAN'T do in real life.. which is kinda like.. the essence of gaming. But having to do that everytime would get annoying after a while.

Please consider that they're not going to put their people and time on developing features, like smoking, that have no discernable effect on gameplay just for variety's sake. Game design doesn't work like that.. it costs money.

Go buy a 600 dollar joystick to play Bus Simulator, please.

Speeding tickets no, Red lights, no, but I do think I have a good parking system idea.

Purchased car:

• Players should be able to purchase their own unique car. (like Bully and RDR)

• Players can park this car in any parking lot across the city for no additional fee. (There were tons in GTA4.)

• If, and when, they park it anywhere else (ex. on the street, on top of a hobo, inside a Burger Shot), then the car should respawn at a local Pay n' Spray. Players would be charged a fee ($100).

Note: The car would only respawn if the player leaves the general area.

Stolen cars

All of the other non-purchased cars would work just like GTA4's system. If you leave the area, it's gone forever. (generally)

Safehouse Parking

Just live IV, we can save cars in our parking lots.

Also, I think this is realistic too. Generally, if we purchase cars, we get registration. The car we buy in the game will be under our name, therefore we can trace it back to the Pay n' Spray. cool.gif

Best idea I've read on these forums so far.

Traffic laws as an optional feature that are automatically off will not trouble me. They won't interest me, either, and I'd rather Rockstar focus on other ways to make the game world more believable.

It won't happen. Traffic laws, mandatory or optional, will not happen. Rockstar knows they are a waste of time, unsuited for GTA, and really dull.

Exactly keep it optional kind of like New Vegas' hard core mode which had you sleep, eat, and drink to survive, neat feature (fit that game) but I like that it wasn't forced upon you at all.

And yeah odds are it won't happen and if it did it would most likely be an option like you stated.

So, throughout this entire forum, I've seen people ask for traffic laws in GTA V. So much so that I've decided to create this topic. So, here are the laws people want.

*No Speeding

*No Illegal Parking (Disregard this one, I think it was part of a joke thread)

*No Reckless Driving

*No Hit and Run

Now, I have to ask sincerely, why do you people want these? Seriously, I'd like to know. Was getting a wanted star for fighting, shooting a gun in the middle of nowhere, setting anything on fire even at a large distance out side the city, defending yourself from attack, and all of the other things just not enough? Now you want this?

Well, here are the reasons I have heard.

1. "It would make you drive better" This is the one that makes me feel like people just want to force me to behave like a regular citizen in GTA. Why? Well, what's stopping the people who use this argument from following traffic laws right now? I mean, really. Why do they need the added thing where police will pull them over if they don't? I don't think you people out there who use this argument really need that incentive. If you want to drive normally, then go ahead and do so, but I love speeding and crashing into people, so I'd rather do that without getting a wanted star every 5 seconds.

2."It's realistic" This, this right here, this is a real brick wall of an argument. Apparently, realism is like some kind of magic fairy bacon that makes games better, even if the type of realism is having to eat every half hour or die of hunger, or having to follow every traffic law in the book. Well, there are already driving simulators and life simulators out there for if you want to drive normally and fill up on gas and eat. Hell, there's even fallout new vegas with hardcore mode. Plus, even GTA IV still had hollywood movie elements to it. Sure, there was not much to do after the story, but there were some crazy ass missions. Would any of you watch a movie, see a 5 minute scene where he eats or fills up his car or even follows traffic laws and go "That scene was so fulfilling"? Well, I'll be honest, I know some of you would, but this is not that type of movie or game.

But I digress. I just don't want traffic laws in there because that would make the cops twice as annoying and the game more boring overall as you spend minute after minute watching ticket writing animations or even just spending an hour in rush hour traffic. So, again, why else do you want these in? I really need to understand why.

one reason for wanting these laws could be for having the potential of being spotted by a nearby police officer and possible legal troubles for the player that range from traffic tickets to police chases.

Come on guys, this is probably the hundredth time I've seen something being discussed with someone saying "Maybe they can make it optional". At this rate everything in GTA will be optional... and what fun is that?

If you want everything your way, go make your own game. Rockstar is making it the way they want to. Right now to some of yall, traffic laws sound like an awesome idea, but the same people will be bashing Rockstar when they can't do anything or go anywhere without getting a wanted level. And no options for these kinds of things. The game needs to be made the way the game needs to be made. If not, the menus and settings will be cluttered with all sorts of random pointless options.

Last time I checked, there never is a police at every corner in New York City. You say you don't want to get a wanted star every second, but why do you think you will get it that fast? You obviously are thinking that there will be a police man in every corner of Los Santos and you will get a wanted star because of that.

Well, if R* was smart, they would not make the same mistaktes they made with GTA IV's Liberty City. Los Santos should NOT have a police car or police man in every corner I drive past, an it should take time for someone to report me to the police. You are speeding at say 200 km/h, do you actually expect someone to see your license plate? You crash into someone in the streets and no one there is there to see it, do you actually think a police car will appear out of no where? You bump into a police car just a tad bit, do you expect the police to arrest you for that? The worst they can do is give you a fine.

When people say they want traffic laws for the protagonist himself, that is where GTA V should not go. What I want and many others want is the A.I following traffic laws. Ever feel you just want to act good for awhile and drive your nice Infernous you found 100 miles away from Los Santos? Well what if the A.I acted like the did in GTA IV? Within seconds of you stopping at a red light, the A.I will f*ck up your car. I would be truely pissed if that happened. And I will be truely pissed if A.I acted like the f*ck faces they are in GTA IV.

My point here is, that we do not expect yourself to following the traffic laws but at least the A.I should. I want to see A.I follow the traffic law, but I also want to see some assholes who break the traffic law and get fined or even arrested for it.

Remember how san andreas had all sorts of cheats that kind of did mold the game? I just want things like traffic laws and hunger and fuel to be options because I do not want to be forced to fuel up my car and eat, even if those take hours to manifest. Maybe other people like following traffic laws, and that's fine. They can already follow them in any GTA game. But me getting a star for not following them and things like hit and run on another vehicle? No thanks. Maybe if I hit a cop car directly, but that's it.

Traffic rules should never be implemented in GTA. There should be better AI should you choose to obey laws, though. In GTA IV, cars would ram into the back of you or pull around you if you were stopped at a red light. Very immersion breaking and not realistic, and that kind of thing shouldn't happen.

I'm all for some level of realism (this is one reason why IV is my favorite GTA), but too much of it like some are calling for is just absurd.

I actually liked how Mafia II addressed traffic laws. Red lights were not an issue, but you would get a ticket for speeding only if you were going excessively higher than it (like 30MPH faster). Plus, you wouldn't get a ticket if there were no cops around.

If traffic laws were introduced, people aren't going to wait around and pay fines, they're just going to flee. So most people's experience of GTA would just be mad dashes from A to B all the time . . .

I seriously cannot see Rockstar taking the time to add this in, even if it were an optional thing that's off by default. This is just down right ridiculous. I have no problem with it being an option, I'm just telling those of you who want it, you must have a lot of faith in Rockstar or something.

I don't see them ever adding in something like this, and ontop of that, Rockstar does what they want. They're not going to see this thread and say, "Dan, we really need to delay the game and add realistic traffic laws!", they're going to make the game the way they want it, and I doubt it has anything to do with realistic traffic laws, considering the game has always been about freedom to do whatever. This is just too much realism, and wouldn't be that fun. One of those things that sounds like it could be done on paper, but once implemented, everyone realizes how much it sucks.

Havent they(R*) already stated that the only way you will get a star is if you are going full speed and blow past a cop?

High speed driving will ruin the fun and I don't think Rockstar will include that much laws in V. yin-yang.gif

I think that 1 star for going 120 or 1 star for running over a pedestrian would be okay; it's not that hard to evade cops at 1 star. But 40 mph speed limits and tickets for going through red lights is too Mafia and not GTA.
