Hit a cop car. That's all you need to do. I don't think I should have to deal with speeding laws because you want a chase, especially since you can have a chase anyways.

Traffic Laws? Are you kidding me... Whats next curfew before 9pm?

This is gta, laws are meant to be broken

You realize your logic there means traffic laws should be in the game, since as of now they aren't so you're not able to break them.

Personally I'm in favor of traffic laws like speeding, if done correctly. It mainly depends if R* has kept their idiotic police system, where if you accidentally bump into a police vehicle you get arrested, instead of it being a simple accident or maybe just a fine. If they go the Mafia II route of having fines at lower level crimes then I would welcome a speeding law (on the subject of the other game, I like how when you're caught fighting they just warn the two involved to stop).

I don't think R* will add the laws since so many people seem to be against it. One thing I know for sure, I really hope R* doesn't put in an on/off switch for gameplay mechanics like so many people mention when a "feature" is discussed like this, gas for vehicles and bringing back needing to eat.

It would be funny if they had traffic cameras at certain intersections. Every month, they'd email you tickets for all of the times you ran a red light or broke the speed limit. The only problem is that you'll most likely be driving a stolen car and they won't be able to send the ticket to you. tounge.gif

Why shouldn't those features be optional? I will not be forced to deal with hunger and gas as well as traffic laws. No way.

+10

Traffic laws can be integrated in a manner which does not hamper gameplay, destroying properties and cars could result in stars, while minor infractions can result in a siren flash or what not. I would like to see something different, some incentive from R* to slow down and actually enjoy the insane amount of detail given to their environments.

Off topic.

Dude, your signature just made me crack up, I was watching it, waiting for it to get to the end.. lol

OT.

Traffic laws would ruin some of the fun things in GTA, I can only agree on being able to get a ticket when you get 1 star, thats it, I dont want to be chased for running a red light.

That'll just be darn annoying.

Drink driving, yeah ok, you already get a wanted level for that, so that's no change, being able to get a ticket for it would be quite neat.

Because people like to complain about being "forced" to do things. I only asked about making it optional for this reason.

You don't seem to want any of this stuff but then we ask why there isn't enough to do or enough to spend your money on.

No because what if you're in situations of urgency? I can't be bothered with laws like this if I need to be somewhere within 60 seconds. even still it would be pretty damn repetitive since cops tend to be f*cking everywhere and would make me not want to dive anywhere. I'd just be taking taxis all the time.

Because big houses and lots of vehicles apparently don't appeal to people and they'd rather follow traffic laws then say, race in the hotring or wreck cars in the bloodring. Oh sure, we could bring back an entirely real sport in which cars are given the objective to crash into eachother within two minutes until ones is left, a mini game which is incredibly fun and satisfying, but why do that when I could be paying f*cking speeding tickets, right? I mean, who would want to wreck cars legally when we could be eating and filling up on gas. Right? RIGHT?!

Yes! A speed limit cap for the road you are on would be nice. Too many times I start off playing Bus driver (hehe) in GTA 4 and end up going really fast because I don't want to be bothered going slow. A speed limit cap that you could toggle would help that. It would also be fun to just use that and drive around the city taking in everything without that need to go fast and always acting on it.

Big houses and nice cars are very important. But so is immersion.

I don't think anybody said "we want to pay fines and have nothing fun in the game".

Destruction derbys would be bad ass.

Seriously, and this is simply my opinion and it is not intended to offend anybody, I think there is one of two things going on here.

Number 1. Most people on these forums are fairly young and very unimaginative.

or

Number 2. There is a divide between GTA gamers in terms of immersion versus senseless violence and havoc.

My question though is this. What was the very first Grand Theft Auto based on? In my opinion, the original idea wasn't based on driving around a massive city on a mass murder rampage for sh*ts and giggles.

It was about a regular citizen getting by in life, making money, by committing crime. Is every criminal out there a mass murderer? I don't think so.

And that is not what GTA is trying to purvey either.

And on that sole basis, if the game is based on making money by committing crime, I believe there should be as many laws to break as is feasibly possible.

Again, don't get me wrong, I want the fun sh*t too. I want the destruction derbies. I want the hookers. I want missions where I have to kill somebody to make a little bit of money. I want the parachutes. I want the big houses. I want the nice cars. I want the airplanes. I want the clothes, the clubs, and the booze.

But I also want the ability to use my own brain and make money by committing crime as you would in the real world. And that isn't by driving down the side walk and running over 100 people in a cold blooded murdering spree.

And if I have to stop at a red light because I see a cop at the intersection so be it. Or if I have to make sure I am not driving at an excessive speed on the highway because there might be a speed trap waiting up around the bend. That is cool too.

How I picture the Grand Theft Auto series is simple. Make money by committing crime. If there are no laws, how on earth do I commit crime?

What fun is a game based of committing crime going to be if there are no laws to break and crimes to commit?

From what I read on these forums, it sounds like the only time you guys want the police to come after you is if you kill somebody. And THAT is a lot more lame than any traffic law.

I just don't get it.

I've said it once, I'll say it a thousand times, if Rockstar follows the path many of you want, The GTA series will go to sh*t.

us pc gamers have had many realistic features given by mods...hunger mod, petrol mod, weapon weight mod, arrest warrant with traffic laws etc.. personally, i love that type of realism, it creates much more immersion especially when re-playing the game...the beautyful thing of it all is that we could choose what elements of realism play with.

So basically, a sort of hardcore mode that adds realism stuff for the vanilla game would be perfect, who cares if it's "gta style" or not? it's just something more that would not force anyone to avoid casual gameplay

Yeah I've also seen people asking for marriage and owning pets and stuff. My theory is that these people want to live the realistic gangster high life, but can't in real life so they do it through a game.

Maybe the optional cheat should be for the people who don't care for the immersion aspect.

I think the series would be dead and/or irrelevant by now if it never made it past freeroam -> kill people/blow stuff up -> run from cops -> lose wanted level -> start mission -> watch cutscene -> drive to marker -> kill a bunch of people -> steal fast car -> go back to safehouse -> freeroam -> kill people/blow stuff up -> rinse/lather/repeat. I guess there's only one acceptable way to run up a wanted level.

The star of the GTA games is not a character. It is the city and environment in which the characters live. The things that bring the environment to life lend themselves to lifelike things in the game.

At the very least there should be stricter traffic laws during certain missions, like when you've got a body in the trunk or you're driving around a van full of stolen loot. For that matter they ought to react when they see you coming out of the black van wearing a ski mask and entering a house, or coming out of it with a giant TV.

Our? Speak for yourself.

Traffic Laws would be awesome.

I like to speed past a cop and then see him chase me and think 'f*ck you' and if I don't have time for an evasion I'll just stop the car and pay up.

What's the problem?

It doesn't spoil fun at all. If anything, it adds fun.

You'd only have to slow down if you saw a cop near you.

if you wanted to drive fast you could steal a cop car and put the sirnes on and then the cops would think you are another cop responding to a situation and ignore you.

There should be more ways to evade/not get spotted by cops.

IV started with this when you could ditch your car for another and drive past a cop and not get spotted if you had a wanted level

Despite the fact that I'm usually prefer realism, I don't think there should be traffic laws in GTA V. We already have that in Mafia.

GTA V would be f*cking sh*t if you get wanted everytime you speed, don't park right or hit someone's car. You would be wanted 24/7

ah i never said that they should add a star for passsing through a red light confused.gif

i only wanted that speeding over 180 or more should become a 1 STAR police chase thats it and the 1 Star is really is to avoid not just in GTA IV but all the previous GTA's 2 STAR would end up them calling back up

I think traffic laws were in the "Italian Job" game. You couldn't speed and you had to stop at the red light. It wasn't actually that oppressed as it seems, because the cops ain't EVERYWHERE.

It was fun. It didn't seem "too realistic"

What car thieves do you know that obey traffic laws?? Oh, i just robbed a car (drives up street), sh*t, red light, better stop!! lol.gif

You would be more at home playing a driving simulation game, then you can obey the law all you want.

Wise up please!! dozingoff.gif

im sorry but your logic is flawed, if I were to steal a car and get it to my buyer im sure as hell going to follow all laws as to not bring unwanted attention to myself. I think car thieves follow traffic laws, they dont want to get caught for something dumb like running a red light or speeding in a "hot" car. I think some traffic laws should be used in the game, just for that fact there. A true criminal would follow traffic laws until they got out in the country then your less likely to get caught anyways.

i was getting at joy riding, not stealing to sell, so its not flawed...

Go to youtube and type in: Belfast joyriders, and see if they obey the law.

your logic is the one thats flawed, its not a game about chop shopping cars, but stealing at wrecking them...

Either way it's realistic ;o

Even in real life, doesn't matter if you are doing a joyride, running a red light will get cops attention.

Fine, do it, but cops aren't dumb. They will still give you a ticket if you run a red light.

OK I've an idea> if you ignore the red light the cops will fine you and will give you a fine time. If you commit another crime during this fine time the cops will bust you. smile.gif
