Q-13 V.I.P. Session 13 Setlist

Coming up in February The Q-13 Lounge will be 2 years old. A lot of people don't know this but The Lounge actually originates from a 2006 Public Gang Chat thread that had a very music focused theme. This was at a time before the ever so helpful youtube tags came along but within the thread you would find a very strong discussion of music from all types and genres going on at all times. The atmosphere within the topic was meant to be festive and stylish, often with a lot of song lyrics and album suggestions being made and so in a sense this idea of a "Open Format" music thread to simply discuss and share good, quality music from all walks and genres has been rooted in my mind for quite some time.

I appreciate you keeping an open mind and allowing us to share and for all the new songs and artists we've heard over the last few years, lives have been enriched on some level and musical horizons have been expanded by your participation. Discovery is the thing.

For those of you not familiar with what that is. Every 5 pages in the thread represents a "Session". For every Session I send out a Setlist of what was played and enjoyed to anyone who's ever participated in the thread and also a few close friends and confidants who haven't. If you want to be added to the mailing list or need back issues just let me know.

This being the 13th Session I figured we'd do something a little special to commemorate the occasion with a public presentation and some added features towards the end, namely The Choice 5 Spinners for 2011 and the Q-13 Top 20 Artists for 2011.

Diversity requires the input of a wide range of people from different walks of life with differing tastes and preferences in music. Even outside some of the genres discussed in this threads intro we've heard things like punk, folk and rock music on occasion. The point being the music presented puts you in a good positive mood and eases the tensions of the day. These five individuals have consistently contributed over the last two years and really added a solid mix of new and different music to the Session setlists. At this time, we take a moment out to thank them.

Honorable Mentions: Of course we appreciate everyone who participates and listens to the music shared within The Lounge but we would remiss not to mentions these regular patrons as well. ThePinkFloydSound, The Guru, Claude Speed., Warlord., Ats., Lethal Nizzle, DOOM!, Mockage, Sakuya, Tyler, kippers., radltzx, Zak., Maleficus

Let's be direct on this point these musical artists fall in no particular order, this isn't a countdown. These are just a collective list of some newer artists that have served to really move things along and get quite a bit of play in our households and earbuds over the last two years. Many you will have heard of, many you may have yet to discover but be assured this listing represents individuals who bring consistent quality to their craft. Enjoy.

A Big credit to Narcis_speed6 for providing the graphical backdrop for this special occasion and to Wikipedia for providing the free information I needed to research the musical artists we honored this year. A credit to GTAF for taking issues like this seriously, as we would not even be able to share imbedded youtube links or otherwise under the stringent guidelines the SOPA act suggested. Keep fighting the good fight on that front and as always, Stay Groovy.

Things like these bring a tear of joy to a young man's eye. Even if I didn't make it to the Top 5 of such a remarkable setlist tounge2.gif

In all seriousness, though, it has been a wonderful journey alongside heaps of great men, let alone music, and I do feel truly privileged, grateful and proud to say that I've been a part of it. The thought that it's been two years since I wandered into the topic wondering what the hell is it's purpose feels insane. I've been happy to help and I always will be. Keep the good music comin', gentlemen!

I'm not a frequent visitor of the Lounge, but I must say, this is beautifully done Meta. I worship you.

Love that you included Foster The People in the top 20. I saw them live just last week. Freakin awesome. They had a remix of the outro of Pumped Up Kicks, wonderful stuff.

It's always nice to see topics that have a great deal of effort go into them, especially when they're continuing projects with a lot of people contributing. Nice work meta, and the rest of you too.

I'm very happy about the Crystal Castles love too.

This ^ Beautiful topic.

It's one of those topics that I just can't stay away from. I like looking through the old pages and picking songs at random. You're pretty much guaranteed to come across something brilliant. Cheers for this brilliance biggrin.gif

Hugely appreciate the effort you've put into Q13 Meta. I've always enjoyed popping in and seeing what people have posted and some times contributing something myself. I've built up a huge playlist on itunes just from browsing the setlists for every session. There's a lot of music I wouldn't know existed if it wasn't for the topic. Thank you.
