Empire Building!

would be cool if there was a continuous multiplayer empire building that never ends and you join up with buddies to build as much as you can meanwhile there are other players online also wanting to be the best because R* made some prize that whoever is the top Gang until GTA VI comes out will win (prize) so it's a constant struggle to be at the top especially since people can steal/take over your safe houses although u can hire NPC hench men to do certain missions and protect your properties.. I think that would be awesome and that some people will definitely go nuts trying to be the top gang.

I really like this idea. It could be like land grab in RDR. In V, they could make it so that you and your crew can take over businesses, and for every business you still own at the end of the day, you and your crew will earn a certain amount of XP. The catch is, of course, other players will try and take over your business. So you have to protect them. This could all be done in free roam. And yes, as we rank up, I think it would a good idea if we would hire NPC henchman to protect businesses when actual players aren't around.

Oh, and I updated the ideas section. Keep them coming guys! icon14.gif

I loved this in Vice City Stories and like you said it would really fit the game perfect!

Weed farms like in the country and you'll be able to visit them same with the meth labs.

Upgrade your business make it more 'modern' and 'classy'

And as I mentioned before I want advanced organizations, gang wars that include targeting key members to weaken your rival factions as well as activities that prompt FBI and DEA investigations which could lead to disassembling your organization as your members are taken up on charges. They could use LA Noire type judgement to assess the loyalty an strength of the people you choose to have involved in your organization. Weaker members may go down as snitches while loyal members can be outfitted with LAWYERS (who also range in quality and price), great lawyers may get your man acquitted. If found guilty, a key member may also be able to help expand your operation from the inside.

This could evolve into a long term economic / crime strategy game. You could be involved hands on, and/or you could delegate the work to NPCs and algortihms.

If players could hire NPC henchman and buy/rent other resources, the number of which you would maintain at a given level of outward cash flow, then the attacks and defense of safehouses and other businesses could be done statistically with the number of resources (henchmen, weapons, vehicles, bribes, etc) each player is willing to commit. Certain businesses would need more bribes or vehicles to defend, while others might need more brute force henchmen or specialized weapons.

It would be fun to watch the fights take place. There would always be a random factor, but generally, unbalanced attacks or defense would go to the side with superior resources in the fight. If the player on eahc side is also participating, they could work hard to try to affect the outcome.

^ Nice post! Judging by what you said, there is alot of potential in an empire building multiplayer mode. Still, I think it would be best suited for free roam only. It would give you more to do, just like land grab in RDR's free roam. I think it would be cool to actually earn xp (money) for every business you own at the end of the day in the game. Everyone would be fighting for control over the city...

I liked how in VC-MP the regions of the map would be held by groups of players, I remember having the most fun standing on the rooftop of Diaz's mansion with 3 other people just holdin it down as carloads of other players peeled in one by one.

If rockstar implemented that kind of gameplay into the multiplayer in V, I'd sh*t my pants and never get off my couch again

Notice how much ambition Tommy has! We need this character trait again in Grand Theft Auto V.

Well from the sound of the protagonists voice in the trailer I sounds just like him but ya voiced by a different actor, so I bet your wish comes true! He will be ambitious and always be the one kicking ass and calling names.

Buying training and equipment for your bodyguards or the soldiers you use to man businesses (choosing how many of your crew are stationed at each one) to allow them to defend their charge better. Also, being able to send your gang members out to do minor side missions while you take care of other business with the option of doing it yourself like usual, with the amount of NPCs you send, training level, and equipment determining success.

I love your idea. I'd call it a "boss" option, where you can coordinate and supervise a criminal organization without having to do the "dirty work" yourself, if the individual player so desired. Keyword being option, so it wouldn't be required to do it that way, but if you wanted to you could.

I'm cool with it, I enjoyed it to an extent in Vice City stories, but it became annoying when people kept trying to take over your sh*t all the time, probably more annoying that the relationships in IV. Things like this spoil the fun and happen way to often in some of the games.

@Dystopia: There's ways they can improve it though so it would be less annoying. Like having the ability to hire goons to protect your businesses when your not there, also it would help to purchase better security... like cameras, fences, dogs, search lights ect. That would make it easier on the player so they don't have to hurry and protect the businesses themselves.

Decided I would bump this due to lack of info, and how crazy people are becoming. I am sure there are more ideas out there people would like to share that would make Empire Building great in V! icon14.gif

Those are all RPG features, everything that involves evolution of the story the world the character and the businesses is like an RPG and i like that, i think it's the one thing that puts GTA on top of the other games.

That was the thing I was most hyped for in Vice City Stories and most disappointed about. It's a great idea but imo Rockstar failed miserably at it in VCS. Ignoring how glitchy VCS was the empire building missions were very stale and repetitive. I was hoping it would be more along the line of Vice City's asset missions, but a bit expanded on.

An idea just popped into my head concerning MP. Of course leave all these ideas for SP too, but wouldn't it be cool if there was a co-op mode where with a friend or more where you could build your own empire? Maybe call it "Pursuit Of The Mighty Dollar" mode?

It probably wouldn't be as intricate as the SP version, but the principle would be the same. You make your own gang (With other friends too) and you can buy into businesses with them. Maybe there could be a component where you compete with rival gangs (other players. No A.I) to see who can accumulate the most wealth and/or try to steal income from them via all sorts of means.

As I said I just thought of the idea, so if anyone wants to expand they're more than welcome too.

Great thread btw. icon14.gif

Lol that would be awesome in GTA. I can tell you it's a lot of fun because on the game Gary's Mod there are servers called Perp where you can grow drugs and create an empire on MP and it's absolutely crazy.

It may already have been mentioned... but i think it should be an integrated system, utilizing approaches from Vice City, Vice City Stories, and San Andreas. In VCS they had Empire building, but it was mostly going in and starting a gang war, and then the property falls apart and gets re-sold. i think it would be neat to go back to what we had in Vice City, when you purchase the property, it would have regular story-line missions (like how The Malibu Club in Vice City was used as a meet up for the Bank Heist setup, or how the Taxi Firm required Tommy to show up the competition, and the Car Showroom in Doherty was used to sell stolen cars....i could go on...)

Also, Gang Wars could be brought in as a device to bring down real estate prices, this could also be part of the regular story missions.

Also, with the Home Mortgage crisis, this offers the possibility of buying houses, flipping them, and then reselling....this could be fun as well, and if done properly, (and yes, this might make it feel a little bit like The Sims, if they went all out on how you could redo a place, but of course it would be a side venture and not something you would HAVE to do) could add hours of replay value. They could always make it less involved, but i think it would be fun, nonetheless.

Also, you could keep the house if you wanted...i found it really annoying not being able to spend money, or buy houses in GTA:4, but i must say that after finishing the story of TLAD, i was least satisfied, always having to drive back to the south of Alderney to save...

It would have been nice to have a hotel chain where you pay $50 or something to save the game...

Also, bring back Trucking...this could be incorporated into the empire building....maybe you partner with a guy who steals electronics, he brings them back to your lock up, and you sell them, thereby incorporating both the Robbery and Trucking missions... just some thoughts i had...

Just imagine: Driving around Los Santos, buying up some businesses with your henchmen. Slowly but surely building your criminal empire from the ground up. What a feeling of success that would be!

I read the original topic and here are some ideas and some expansions on other.

Money is divided into two catagories, clean and dirty. You can use either one at either time but there will be limits to using dirty money. You can go to Clucking Bell and buy a meal with dirty money but you will not be able to buy a house with it. However if you buy something illegal you can use dirty money. In order to convert the money from dirty to clean you have several options.

-Have it cleaned for a fee. To do this you will have to pay a large percentage based fee

-Gamble it in a casino-Any money won in a casino will automatically be clean. The risk is that if you lose, you lose the money

-Use businesses as fronts-I want to expand on that last one. You should have limits as to how much you can launder at each business based on size. For instance a coin laundry you may get about $5-10 a day cleaned (no pun intended), A mechanic would launder about $500 a day, A big casino would bring in about $10,000 a day.

If you got busted police would take all your dirty money and also some of your clean money as well. In order to prevent from losing your Dirty Money when busted you could stop by your safehouse and put it in your stash but it will not be laundered while there.

Also I would love to see dummy companies in the game that you can buy that allows you to run scams such as a Pyramid Scam or a Ponzi Scheme. Speaking of scams why not throw in a few scam based mini-games such as the Pigeon Drop or the Van Speaker Scam.

As far as your businesses getting attacked hopefully they do not go the VCS or SA route where they are constantly under attack. However I think it would be great to have them occasionally attacked with a Godfather II The Game type set-up. You can hire guards for your businesses the more paid they are the better they will protect you. Also on your payroll is a group you can send to a business being attacked if things get real bad.

If all these ideas are NOT in the game, it would be a major dissapointment. GTA V needs to move in a slightly more RPG fashion.

Great thread and I love your enthusiamis!

Oh yes! This idea is exciting, make it more integrated into the storyline. I loved that in VC. But however, there should be room for hostile takeovers as well. The bigger the business, the harder it is to take over. Also, it would be neat if you take over from someone who's affiliated with someone you are involved with, that it would effect that relationship. Positive or negative, like maybe they'll say 'You did a good thing rubbing him out, i didn't like his way of doing business' thus gaining respect from someone who might be important in the end.

Personally, i think Scarface (T.W.i.Y.) had a pretty good system, except too many attacks. Really annoying at times.

I also liked the 'minigame' they had for all your deals, that circle-thingy, but i feel it would be cheesy for GTA V.

I dunno, i'll expand on this empire building later, i'll think of something. Great thread btw! The original post has some EPIC videos man smile.gif

Is not just a great idea TC, it what is going to make me purchase V or forgetting about it immediately.

Mark my words:

Either R* does something like that...or sooner or later some other Dev will come up with it and put R* forever to shame.

I'm tired of "open-world gaming evolutions" that are nothing more than driving faster cars in a huge, boring (but beautifully design) environment.

It's either what you proposed or retirement for GTA.

I'd also like to see moneylenders.

You can get money from them and, the higher the amount, the toughest are the consequences if you don't repay.

Not just physically, but always economically.

They might be beating you up a little, then you car is taken, then one of your activities and finally you safe-houses.
