No, not park our, with the flips and such, but where you can slide across vehicles, jump and shoot at the same time, climb and jump to other buildings (they have to be close obviously)/.

Got any ideas?

This would actually be quite fun. But, put in parkour too. So I can wall jump and sh*t. That would be awesome. I bet lots of real criminals would learn parkour if they got the chance.

That would look like a mix of GTA with Mirror's Edge. Though it wouldn't be too bad for some police chases, let's remember that if the character is actually 50 years old, I don't see him doing that tounge.gif

That sounds cool, but I doubt it'll suit GTA with all the flips and crap.

yes, but not like climbing buildings and sh*t. just make him be able to climb fences quicker and do some neat, but still GTA like tricks

I was thinking that he could climb houses and such, but not tall buildings. You should be able to hang from buildings, and jump to the next.

I am going to disregard my policy of not replying when i got nothing positive to say just so i can add that this is a sucky idea. Its like riding a childrens tricycle or however that is called in english.

Why not add reading books, toilet-papering houses, drinking coffee, going to house partys and what not.

Assuming we're playing as a gray-haired, middle-aged man.... no. Maybe next time eh?

Free running would be awesome. The one annoying aspect about GTA 4 is that everything felt very clunky. Imagine running up to a fence, only to quickly hop over it and continue chasing someone; that'd be epic. Similar to Mirror's Edge, you could press a button to tuck your legs in and take less/if any damage at all. Obviously if you fall from huge heights, then sure, but having an athletic character should warrant the ability to catch your falls; so to speak.

Do you even know what free running is? It is nothing like reading books or drinking coffee....

What the hell does suit GTA anyways? Drunken combat and sloppy foot getaways that are either on foot with barely any ability to climb a fence or in a slow car that turns like it's on ice? What the hell does make the core of GTA anyways? Because I thought criminals would want to be skilled in things such as parkour to get away from cops easier. I thought criminals would want to steal fast sports cars and live in mansions. I didn't know it was supposed to be a poverty and worst criminal ever simulator.

It takes years to get good at park our, I doubt some criminals would be good at it lol

Come on, the protagonist doesn't have to do backflips and flip flops and stuff to do freerunning, he just needs to traverse the landscape more smoothly, like climbing walls/fences faster and more smoothly climbing on ledges etc.

Yeah maybe GTA should also exclude jumping and fast sprint because it's "too childish". suicidal.gif

Assuming we're playing as a gray-haired, middle-aged man.... no. Maybe next time eh?

And the voice in trailer fits gray-haired, middle-aged man perfectly... suicidal.gif

Anyway I'd like a mix of LA Noire and True Crime Hong Kong.

It doesn't have to be over the top. Nearly everyone in this thread is reacting in that way.

GTA IV allowed for some basic 'free running' elements to the on-foot controls/gameplay. But it can be agreed that the on-foot mechanics were rather clunky and so didn't quite do justice to Rockstar's original intention.

If Rockstar can revamp the mechanics to allow quicker climbing and tighter on-the-spot jumping, then we should be fine.

I liked how "liquid" the movement felt in LA Noire. Not having to press a button to hop over a low bench etc. It was all automatic and the animation and "feel" was satisfying to me during chases (on foot).

Well, I won't be happy if I find out I'm playing an old f*cking fart.

WATCH THIS from about 2:33

It would be really cool if R* implemented a climbing and running system like this in GTA V (minus the flips and unnecessary stuff)

Yeah, I agree. It would be cool to jump from one stair to another and such. Useful when escaping from police.

Don't want to be all moddish, but there is an existing topic about this here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=491914

As this is an active discussion, perhaps the mods will consider merging these threads.

But that aside, it's worth going to have a look at that thread to see what has been said already; a lot about how it'd have to be the right sort of protag. It even has a poll.

Enjoy.

No parkour/free running shouldn't be in GTA if you want that kind of thing go play Assassin's creed or mirrors edge.

One of my favourite GTA 4 missions was Ivan The Not So Terrible, where you chased him on that construction site. I would LOVE to see more missions like that.

We still dont know if the character is 50 years old. We don't even know who the main character is!

But if the character is 50 y.o.,then we see him running and gunning, parkour, growing muscles...

I'll just laugh. colgate.gif
