Alpheus Posted January 20, 2012 Share Posted January 20, 2012 So I've been slaughtering the flying rats using the gta4.tv map: http://www.gta4.tv/guide/102/flying-rats-%28pigeons%29/ I've systematically killed them all, in order from 1 to 200. And pigeon 188 on the map just isn't there. I go exactly where the screenshot shows, double checked several times, and the pigeon 188 just isn't there. Nothing, no sound either. I've saturated the area with grenades to be sure, and still no kill message. I've killed every other pigeon to where it says just one left. Arrrggg! Anyone have any ideas or a similar problem? Karjerker Posted January 20, 2012 Share Posted January 20, 2012 Confirmation - I've just taken a helicopter out to location 188 and found the pigeon - so it is definitely there. My copy of GTA-IV (PC) is patched with all of the Rockstar approved patches, I never use mods or cheats. So perhaps there is something which has been added to your version which has caused data to be overwritten - because the flying rat in question should be exactly where stated. The bird is right where it is supposed to be, no way you can miss it - standing there on the dock, pecking away, it is facing west. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For some reason the game doesn't show it there. However if you shoot where it is supposed to be with an RPG you get credit for it. I don't believe it was this one though. It was a long time ago. Can't hurt to try though. I never had an issue with any pigeon. I did it like you are too. Did them 1-200 all at once. Making sure at the time that I didn't miss any. Like when I shot 55 it said I had 145 to go and so forth. I have gotten them at least 4 times on the PC version. At least twice on Xbox and once on PS3 and never had an issue. Well other than once where I didn't do it in order and finished with 199 and had to go back and look for the last one that I missed, lol Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Jasper Petrol Posted January 28, 2012 Share Posted January 28, 2012 I've suffered from the missing pigeon glitch in the past, but luckily I save every 20 pigeons and only had to re-shoot a couple of flying rats to continue to the 200. radioman Posted January 28, 2012 Share Posted January 28, 2012 [What if your game crashes or theres a power cut?] Well, if you are on a laptop and there's a power outage, then the game will not be affected unless your battery is dead, as laptops have battery power..That's the big advantage to playing on a laptop.-lol But, OT-Are you sure you haven't missed one-ie. got one and then forgot to save/exited the game/reloaded the game without saving? This could very well be what happened..This has been a problem ever since III, VC, SA, LCS, and VCS...So, go around and check ALL of them again to be dead sure you have got them all on your current save... I have to admit that when I see a topic like this one, that is my first thought too! Until it happened in my own game - and it has only happened once out of the many times I've played to 100%. It should have been there and it wasn't - I couldn't shoot it. When I reloaded the game from the previous save game (I saved every 20 pigeons just in case) the missing pigeon was there where it was supposed to be. Yes, I could have made a mistake but I'm confident that on this occasion there was a glitch. If you want to know the exact location it was the pigeon inside a container in/near North Holland - furthest North on the second Island. You know where I mean! My only advice on this is to save every so many flying rats (10-20). Make sure you see the text [hear the sound] on screen for each pigeon. Where they are in pairs wait for the first acknowledgement before shooting the second. Keep a tally. I'm hoping that if there is a similar feature in the next game that they include a better method of keeping track.
