Should you be able to own pets?

First-time posting a new topic so be gentle. I've done my searches and I'm pretty sure this is a new idea but I've seen others get flamed for topics I thought were good ones as well.

Anyways: The first place most of our minds went when confronted with the possibility of dogs in the game was police attack dogs. I'm still not sure that I like the idea of having to kill a dog to get it off of me (thinking about it always results in sad images of Turner and Hooch), but I'm sure that old GTA instinct would kick right in when I was being attacked and I'd pull the trigger without hesitation. But this dilemma started me thinking about the relationships you build in GTA and how powerful they could be for animal lovers if you could make one with a dog. Imagine buying a pit bull for your safehouse. This could result in people randomly breaking in while you're on the computer or watching the TV stations or whatever else you choose to do in your time at home. Without a dog, they'd be able to attack you from behind or steal without alerting you... But if you've purchased a pet, they could go crazy and even attack the person letting you kill the intruder. I'm sure there are other features I'm not considering... but if you're able to take the dog with you, you could even sic the dog on enemies (probably going a little overboard with the feature at this point) but if someone attacked you, it wouldn't be a long stretch to have a dog automatically go after them. And if you took the dog out and someone killed it... well the response it would bring from me and many others is the power of GTA. So if animals are a part of the game and you're allowed to buy and use them, what animals would you want and what interaction would you like to have with them? Or is this going way overboard and a waste of space on the best GTA forum site there is?

i dont thing ull be able to own a pet wink.gif

To be honest, I doubt it as well. But if the cops can attack me with a dog, I want one to bite them back.

I don't mind owning a guard dog as long as they don't go overboard with the amount of maintenance required. Like if I have to feed it every game day I wouldn't even bother.

Very true... if it turns into a Tamagotchi type thing it'd ruin the game.

Hmm having pets,I wouldn't really mind it. In Red Dead Redemption you had a dog and there was this mission involving the dog trying to sniff and find animals for you to kill. If they added something in like that with GTA V it would be okay, but I think its highly unlikely will be able to have pets, maybe will see pedestrians with it and be able to interact but other then that I have to say no in my opinion.

I'm getting old an don't have time for video games anymore (my wife knows GTA is my one exception) but this RDR game is sounding better and better the more I hear about it. I like the idea of a mission counting on the dog, but the dog would have to be more of a storyline character than an option... but that might actually work out much better. I can really see myself growing to love the dog through cutscenes and just having him running around a safehouse without really doing anything... Then if something were to happen to him because of an enemy, my rage would definitely show itself when I was going to get my revenge. This is really where my post is coming from: I could care less how many people are tortured or killed in movies, but one dog gets hurt or dies and I'm a mess. Something like that mixed with a powerful GTA storyline and I'd probably be screaming at the TV as I mowed down those responsible.

Any species valuing the survival of another over its own is an evolutionary defect and should be denied all breeding rights.

I'm talking about movies moron. If I had to choose between rescuing a person or an animal from a fire I'll choose the human every time. On the other hand, if you can't understand the difference between media and real life, than you should be denied your breeding rights.

There are more than enough topics about pets and animals, just search around and eventually use the search tool.

Locked.
