But can you see SOPA/PIPA affecting GTA V? Will SOPA leak over to the gaming industry? Will sharing content - replays through R*'s video editor be possible. Will modding be affected. Will the forums suffer. Fanfiction? My thoughts? I think it WILL be affected. Modding hinges off of R*'s content so there's the potential for THAT to breach the SOPA. Sharing videos on youtube wil certainly be outlawed, and i suspect that even writing fan fiction may be wrong too. Screenshots - like uploading them here would that be a breach? Also would the decision be down to R* - could they say "nah everyone one GTA NET is allowed to share out content" or not? Rockstar NORTH is a scottish based comapany, but a subdivision of an american one, so will they be affected by the US bill? How can a US bill take effect outside of the states? Or is it because TT and R* are american? If anyone has any OFFICIAL* information too that'd help. My mate is in the process of obtaining written info through his lawyer, and when i hear that i will share what i can. I am against it of course, as i'm a firm believer in liberty and free speach, and this bill APPARENTLY has the threat to ruin that online. Thoughts? As long as Rockstar them self would allow us to use mods, and upload videos of V, SOPA would probably not do anything, and sharing content trough the Rockstar's video editor would definitely be possible, since it's their idea and they have the function to upload it. In terms of affection forums etc, that can definitely get locked down, if there will be posted leaks, copyrighted materials etc. SOPA will probably not affect the world of gaming that much, game publishers probably want their fan forums to be up and us posting you tube videos of their games, as long as they don't post lets say a link to a torrent of the game or stuff like that. Tho the chance for the bill to actually pass is quite low, but PIPA might have a bigger shoot at getting a pass, but none probably will. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Apparently Obama doesn't even support it, now whether or not people say he can't do anything about it I don't see it passing either way. It's too much of a issue for the US government to handle if things got out of control in terms of people causing riots, which will happen with out a doubt if they did pass. Im not too strong on the american politic system - the left/right thing confuses me. I'm todl that SOPA isnt the worry - PIPA is - apparently PIPA is the same but less so, that will "sneak" through. but there's no fact in that. I had thought that if it DID pass, it wouldn't last, but still i jst don't know. I heard an interesting "rumour" yesterday: A company (can't remember who) that own Cnet and download.com began sharing winmx, Limewire etc Then because of that people downloaded stuff illegally, and then said company began to lose money, so they're backing this bill in an attempt to regain the money THEY lost - and they're hiding this information too. I can't confirm that - it's just speculation, and i have NO idea if ANY of it is true. @forzum - what i MEANT about sharing through the vid editor was (and sorry for not being clear) sharing that on youtube.
