gta2 for sure. The way the camera flies all over the place in gta1 makes me feel sick.

I like the GTA1 art style better. GTA1 has convertibles, bikes and a boat. GTA2 has none of those features but I like it more because of the weapons, health meter, physics, save system, missions and multiplayer.

I like GTA2 because of its feature including the artist animation on people.

I also like older GTA London 1969 game because it's based in London features as well as its weapons.

I would like GTA London game as a remake version and it would have a classic features to involve like buses, taxies, etc.

I say GTA 2 cause, not only do you have cars from the future, you have cars from as old as the late 30s. (Kinda weird for 2013 though, right?)

(Cause I'm a classic car lover.)

GTA 2 is a retro-futuristic game, mixing past and future events together. GTA London 1969 was based in the past and it doesn't have the future design like buildings or weapons but some vehicles like tank look like futuristic military tank or I may be wrong. confused.gif

(Classic car lover? cool.gif Classic car is more stylish than modern vehicles.)

I like GTA 2 better because it's funny, colorful, and just like all the characters. I did like the loonies they were my favorite gang. And some of the weapons were cool, like the Electric gun. It was fun goin' around and blasting people with it. happy.gif

The original Grand Theft Auto is my favorite from the two mainly because it is more realistic (no futuristic guns, cars etc) but GTA 2 is similar to III so I like it for that reason.

They are both quite close in terms of goodness to me, I should pick them up and play them properly sometime. The only thing that annoyed me was the frame limiter in the original game, it went too slow most of the time.

GTA1.

I can't stand the handling in GTA2, but that's all. Just the handling and the cars in general and unfortunately that's the main point of GTA so it kind of ruins it for me. I love the music and art style, though.

I agree with you. but in Gta1, every weapon have diferent skin in character hand. you can see it if character while shooting. not in Gta2, the skin same as s-uzi machine gun in each gun weapon

Things that GTA 1 did better:

Accurate weapon sprites when equipped.

Cool blood splatter effect around dead bodies.

Things GTA 2 did better:

Improved graphics, better effects, and an actual lighting system.

Missions and mission variety.

Soundtrack.

Improved health/armor system.

Being able to save after a mission.

More and better weapons.

5 and 6-star wanted levels which added more challenge.

Gang respect system.

Vehicle upgrades.

The humor.

@cidamelo

The one you like is Claude from (GTA3) not Claude Speed (GTA2).

They are different Claude's.

Ontopic: GTA2 its more fun and have the best cars and guns.

GTA1 is still beast tough.

GTA 2 is better. I didn't play GTA1, but after watching some gameplay videos and stuff, I can say GTA 2 is more fun than GTA.

GTA 2 by far. I played both in their releases. That feels like such a long time ago. Wow.

GTA 2 easily:

Smooth graphics and lighting

More responsive controls

Better missions

Much better soundtrack

A lot better camera

GTA2.

Gang mechanics are super fun along with crazy missions and silly characters.

Great urban atmosphere and yes, music is the shi*. I love the sounds of the environments, it feels like being in a futuristic giant city truly.

GTA 2 any day.

GTA 1 is an important classic and the first game of the series.

But GTA 2 is still better in almost everything. Graphics, vehicle handling, camera tracking, game mechanics and features in general, more depth in missions.

They are the same guy. Just compare their appearances (GTA 2 movie Claude -Gta3 Claude), GTA 2 takes place most likely in 1999, so Claude is 20-22 during GTA sa, 28 during GTA 2, and 30-33 during GTA 3. Rockstar also made an official Facebook quiz and if you got Claude in the description he was refered to as Claude Speed.  Rockstar has also answered that they are "probably" the same.

GTA 2 was the first GTA game I played. So it's obvious that I prefer GTA 2. 😛

I later tested GTA 1 anyway, I didn't really like it. But that doesn't mean the game is bad. The biggest weakness of this game for me is the camera view. Because of this, I stopped playing GTA 1 pretty quickly. In GTA 2 it is also from above but a lot softer. The controls are also lousy, but I could live with that if the camera work were better.

@Comrade Monke

Thanks for the link to this FAQ. I believe there is also a source where Rockstar states that it is not the same person. But I don't have the link right now. I'm starting to think Rockstar doesn't know what they were thinking or not thinking back then.

Personal guess: Scott Maslan from the GTA 2 movie served as a model for the creation of Claude from GTA III. In my opinion, there is no more than that. Claude from GTA III plays in a different GTA universe than Claude from GTA 2. Especially since it is not certain in which year GTA 2 takes place. 1999, 2013 or maybe another year.

The only other time they talked about whether they are or aren't the same guy is the "surname may or may not be Speed" thing from what I know at least. Also some characters have crossed universes like El Burro or Lazlow.

It is true that Claude Speed looks like Claude from GTA III in the GTA 2 movie, but this is his official artwork, which is on the back cover of the official GTA 2 strategy guide.

A change of appearance in an artwork still doesn't mean they aren't the same. Just look at Vic Vance, if I hadn't heard of Vice city stories you could genuinely convince me that the drug deal guy at the start of Vice city is a completely different character to the Victor Vance we see in VCS. They look completely different yet are still the same character.

Realistically there's no way GTA 2's protagonist isn't Claude from GTA 3.

- His name is Claude Speed, and in GTA 3 game files the protagonist is referred to as Claude, and his first name is also confirmed by Catalina as Claude.

- He is 28 during 1999 (when GTA 2 takes place, confirmed by in game dialogue), this makes GTA 3's Claude  20-22 in GTA Sa, and 30-33 in GTA 3, meaning it's perfectly possible for Claude (during his and Catalina's 9 year crime journey) to have traveled to Anywhere city.

- They are both silent in-game

- in the GTA 2 Movie they look completely the same

- Claude is a cross-universe character, since he also appears in GTA online as a parent model.

- Rockstar has, in a very subtle way (classic rockstar methods) confirmed they are the same. During an official rockstar-created quiz on Facebook on which GTA character are you, certain combinations of answers would give you Claude as an answer. He was referred to as Claude Speed, protagonist of GTA III, thus basically confirming they are the same.

1 just feels so clunky, idk, also like the aesthetics more from GTA2, though i will say i prefer the cars from GTA 1 & London

cant remember

GTA2 as it has better maps, more features, better graphics, better physics, better structured missions,..

Back when I played it I disliked the retro-futuristic theme and wished it had "normal" cars like GTA1, but over the years the aesthetic grew on me, I feel nostalgic about it now.
