Return of the RC Vehicles

I know what you must be thinking, playing with RC vehicles is soo III-era. But if you think about it, it's creative genius.

We know the current GTA era is aiming for realism, and that it must be the reason they were disregarded in IV. Why? Because remote controlled vehicles don't exist in real life? Because they aren't used to carry out highly sensitive operations? It doesn't make sense.

The RC vehicles are an element that would provide for a nostalgic breakthrough with GTA V. First of all, there's so many improvements that can be made from the previous era:

1) Handling. Most average-GTA players had a tough time controlling them. Remember the Vice City mission where you had to plant bombs in the construction yard? There should be a more efficient way to integrate altitude adjustment, directional maneuvering, firing of projectiles, and the execution of special functions.

2) Accessibility. They should be offered outside of one-time missions. There could be a whole thread of side missions, challenging ones at that, where a player could cycle through various RC vehicles to accomplish vehicle-specific mission objectives. For example, you are trying to assassinate someone on a cargo ship. You initially use the RC car to maneuver through the cargo, but need to go back to obtain a RC helicopter to fly through an opening on the deck. RC cars could be used for museum heists, assuming the popular notion that our main character is an expert jewel thief.

3) Variation. Creating a varied line of RC vehicles would exponentially boost the creative factor. RC cars, RC helicopters, RC planes, RC boats, RC submarines, RC construction equipment, RC military equipment (tanks), etc.

4) Integration into the Storyline. You could be working for a mad scientist or a tech geek with ambitious plans to take down a man or an organization. Hell, even be a terrorist threatening the military. All his or her missions would include utilization of RC vehicles for spying, bombing, finding something in a dark, low-clearance area, racing, etc.

5) Function. I feel as if controlling the vehicles through first-person perspective made gameplay too easy. Let's say you were doing a spying mission with a RC car where you had to maneuver through a dark, rough-terrained mine shaft in the countryside. Even though you were controlling it out there, your physical body would be in some building in Los Santos looking at the spy camera, while activating specific functions. Some new functions that would add to the fun would be new camera angles (i.e. birds-eye, if you wanted to drop a bomb or spike directly on someone). New features could include new weapons, gas or smoke emissions, zoomable spy camera, night-vision mode, silence mode (ability to turn it off), heavy-duty electromagnets, special detection capabilities, etc.

The possibilities are endless. Rockstar Games and the player need to keep their mind open on the limits of the term "remote-control." The purpose of these vehicles would not jeopardize the realism; only add to the fun factor and ambition. I don't mean it to sound overstuffed and convoluted at all.

GTA V will be a modern game, hopefully incorporating some modern technology besides a cell phone and internet. Remember what Modern Warfare did to the Call of Duty franchise?

Thoughts?

Here's one: I wish to hell that Wikipedia was working.

I don't know why people want the game to be realistic anyway. I would like GTA V to be less realistic than IV.

Same here. But i don't mind if its even more realistic than IV, but added with a lot of fun.

RC vehicles would be awesome. I support this idea.

If Rockstar decides to bring back the "fun" part of GTA, and strays less from realism then why not? Nostalgia is indeed a bitch at times!

Triple Penetration

I want for GTA V to have the blips and radar removed. Would make an UAV radar drone useful.

OK to be honest amount of fun and things to do after 100% is higher in GTA IV than GTA III so stop this ok?

As for RCs - NO - they're frustration at first walkthrough and then boredom.

haha, i dont think you ever finished vice city or san andreas then. and little ideas like the RC...well thats one of many awesome aspects to those games that helped make GTA what it is. Thats why this thread is here and why true gta fans were disappointed with 4. such good attention to detail and variety with activities like this. what could you do in 4?? deliver weed? steal a car for brucie...take someone to get drunk... im already asleep. there was nothing to do after missions, rookie.

True but I think we were spoiled with San Andreas. Plus I didn't really enjoy bowling all that much whatsthat.gif

I hated them on VC, I hated them on SA. Man seriously those were stressful missions. Especially the Zero missions in SA, god!

I remember i couldn't pass those for a week. Good thing they let you skip them.

But its just stressful doing those missions.

I wouldn't mind them making a return, but I want their use to be optional. Don't make it mandatory to use them in storyline missions (side missions would be OK).

People always go on about hot GTA IV was realistic when really it wasnt... One man gunning down hundreds of guards by himself and actually winning..... yeahhhhh heaps realistic! pretty sure that mission in TBOGT when ur on that train and heaps of helicopters come after u im sure one of the bullets would hit u realistically... but no one man with a shotgun took down all of the helicopters and managed to balance on the train still... I am not saying i want realism because i like outragous stuff but it annoys me when people say GTA IV was aiming for realism when it clearly isnt realistic at all and it shouldnt be, the GTA franchise is about fun and doing illegal stuff in game that would kill u or put u in jail in real life!

Rc cars can easily be put in the game without realism being a factor.... add as much in as u can R* i say

I think we could put an end to this "Realism" debate by calling it "Movie realism".

They're basically made to resmeble movies, and in movies the good guy always takes out an army with only a scratch or 2 to show.

I want GTAV to be as movie realistic as possible.

I honestly would not be surprised if someone went insane while trying to complete Zero's missions. I couldn't even get passed the first one sad.gif

I think one of the "leaks" said something about an RC car as a weapon. Dear God I hope it's true.

And yeah, I hated the RC missions too. But having an RC car as a weapon? That you can use whenever you want or in any mission? Man, that would be tits.

Well the idea I think with the Zero missions came from the movie The Dead Pool, which happens to be set in San Fran:

GTA SA was more realistic compared to GTA3 yet it's more fun. So why can't GTA5 be the same?

And how GTA 4 was "utter-realistic"? Because of graphics? LOLs.

It was realistic because you couldnt:

Fly a plane

Fly a jet pack

Flame thrower people

*Instert every other fun feature left out that was in SA lol

LOOOOOL. And how cutting features is unrealistic? And surely jets and flamethrowers don't exist IRL...

Must not, as IV is realistic and they arent on that. Hmmm moto_whistle.gif

Funny thing is, SA was over the top but it was actually quite realistic in the fact you had to eat, you could work out, you could dive under water, you could ride a bike, you could drive RC car's, you could operate a crane, you could operate a forklift truck, you could fly a plane, you could use a flame thrower, you could use a chain saw, you could drive a monster truck, you could graffiti, you could be in a gang, you could buy a house, you could modify your car.... Most of which arent realisitc for most of us, but it's not like people cant do that stuff lol.

Anywho, gone off track - big yes from me for RC's returning

and why true gta fans were disappointed with 4.

I wasn't disappointed by GTA IV, so I'm not a true fan according to you? If anything a true fan would find something they like in each game.

On topic. Never really liked RC missions. They felt juvenile IMO.
