I have been wondering this alot lately, why would they announce this game so early if its easily not coming out anytime soon?

What i think is the answer is that not a lot of people were really that interested in MP3(excluding the fans of the series)

and also i guess they needed to boost their stocks so they announce GTA V and kill two birds in one stone.

I'm just really mad that they use something that is not ready nor planned to come soon to do something like that to just boost their sales on another game, leaving the fans of the other game waiting for something that is clearly not coming.

Thats my theory anyway, i can see the reason why no magazines have gotten any information either.

That's my theory too...although I'm sure something was ready for GTA V though.

Pretty much! Put video up of one of the most anticipated games and get people signed up to news letters/checking your website. Then bombared them with info on a game they havent heard of in the hope they buy that to pass the time until GTA comes out.

I dunno why R* does this either. Every one of their games gets delayed and what is the purpose of releasing a trailer literally a year before they plan on releasing the game? Yeah I know we don't know the release date but October/November seems about right, and that's if we're lucky enough to see it in 2012. I'm expecting V to be delayed.

Exactly! I mean, imagine that we get a release date ex. Sep 2012, i'm pretty sure it would be delayed for atleast 3 months if not more.

Forgetting other R* products for a second. GTA IV is the only GTA to have a significant delay and it was for technical reasons. All others have been weeks not months.

If R* announced GTA V's release as October and if it had a delay I don't see it longer than a couple of weeks. A GTA IV like delay is unlikey to happen again.

True, but I'm a firm believer of Murphy's Law. R*'s "largest and most ambitious game" is surely to get delayed biggrin.gif But I've got my fingers crossed.

C'mon R*, give us another one and a half minute trailer so we can make another 6,000 posts to keep us busy for a while!

well wasn't IV announced quite a while before it was due for release?

I'm sorry do you read? look above you.. he was JUST talking about GTA IV's delay.

^ It was announced quite a while before the original release date too.

Before late Oct/Nov '11 people were complaining that there was a lack of info on GTA V, now people are complaining it was announced too early.

It probably will, but I don't always think delays are a terrible thing. Imagine if GTA IV came out in October 2007 as originally planned? The game still has usual bugs you expect from such a big game, but it would've been a lot worse if it was a 2007 release.

I would like to play GTA V as much as everyone does, but a delay wouldn't bother me. Infact I wish some developers would take a page out of R*'s book. The amount of buggy pieces of crap I've played over the years is countless.

cherrycola- It's a strange irony. R* finally announced GTA V and now people are complaining it was announced too early after months of begging for anything at all.

What bothers me is that they haven't even announced a release date and everyone is speculating they wont make the target. How is that in anyway fair to R*? Around here there name gets dragged through the mud like they are the lamest studio out there, and I can think of others that are way worse.

If we had a hypothetical time machine to go back to about 6 months ago most threads consisted of...

"Where's GTA V?"

"I'm so sick of this"

"Come on R*"

Now imagine what this forum would be like had GTA V not been announced at all? Whether the game/trailer was announced pre-maturely the fact most were calling for R*'s head for months just for a sniff of GTA V to me suggests some don't know what they want out of R*.

I think part of the issue here is that fans would no longer STFU about GTAV, so Rockstar finally decided to give in and release a trailer.

With Max Payne 3 coming out in May that pretty much is the final nail in the coffin for GTA V this year. May, 2013 it is then. It's a good job that nobody gives a flying f*ck about Agent. Ha Rockstar Social club coming soon indeed.... 2014 isn't soon.

Why now is a good question when you clearly have no intention of even speaking to the press until mid 2012/early 2013.

Take Two have too many games out this year... Max Payne 3, Bioshock: Infinite and Borderlands 2 and more all in the same year... they all need marketing.... it's too crowded for GTA V and especially trying to launch Agent.

It's not uncommon for studios to announce games/release trailers one or 2 years before a game is released.

Yeah, people can't handle R* doing things differently. People seem to forget that GTA IV was actually announced in 2006. Sure, the trailer didn't come until a year later but it just goes to show that R* don't follow some preset pattern like some people believe.

I wouldn't say people don't know what they want from R*, they want V. In all honesty most hardcore fans have been pretty understandin but it's been since 2008 for most people (I'm sorry but dlc doesn't count in my book as a full release game) and all the while we've sat through other games. Yes RDR was great Noire eh, now MP3. Somehow I feel V should have been placed somewhere in that mix to keep people happy. The only reason I personally gave RDR a chance was because of my respect for R* and my love of GTA, then the only reason I bought LAN was those two reasons and the fact RDR was so great. LAN didn't deliver for alot of people and who actually knows what MP3 will pull, my point if after LAN a GTA release IMHO would help fuel this streak R* has been on since IV. I personally don't think of R* as a one franchise publisher but I do view it the same as a band. Play yur new sh*t but pepper it with the hits that keep the ass in the seats. If the new sh*t is that good then it doesn't matter where you place the hits. But if they aren't as good as the hits and you place the tried and tries last yur looking to playing a half empty venue.

Moral of the story is people get tired of waitin and even though the hardcore might be there the general populace might not so if I were R* I'd start making GTA and MP3 fans happy and not by releasin MP3 videos and screenshots.

Just my 2 cents.

Hell, I thought GTA:V was going to be announced at E3 back in '10, so I thought the announcement was a bit....late. I couldn't care less about them trying to sell MP3; I don't like the fact that they used GTA:V's hype to try and boost the hype for MP3. As far as I'm concerned, the sooner MP3 comes out, the better.

Besides, didn't they say that GTA:V was nearing completion? I don't think GTA:IV was anywhere near complete when Microsoft had announced it back in '06, but I could be wrong.

Is there really any substantial evidence that GTA V is being used to sell/hype MP3? I mean other then forum speculation. I think MP3 has its own merits and is being pushed on its own volition. Also as I stated earlier at this point we have no idea when V will be released. People are speculating it being released a year or so from now or even later.

I don't beliveve there is. Max Payne is an established series . People didn't just forget what it was. If R* wanted to boost hype using GTA V they would've done it with LA Noire which had no existing fanbase.

I hear you but it's 2012 and patience is not a virtue these days to most people. But like I said they need to throw a bone, the idea of a release date reveal seems to be appropriate for this matter (at least to me tounge.gif).

Wondering a lot...have you also tried simple LOGIC? Look at the history of R* games.

Let's not go too far but these titles will ring the bells:

GTA IV (time between first screenshot/trailer/official info) - 1 year (even more)

Red dead Redemption (same)

L.A. Noire (same)

Max Payne 3 (oh...even more)

Agent (...more...)

GTA V . . .?

I've posted this timeline quite a few times already and I can hardly believe how people still wonder why there isn't a new announcement, trailer, info...

It has always been like this.

Can't you see that?

You have to wait.

Aside from common sense, the amount of views on MP3's trailers and the amount of attention that was given to MP3 after GTA:V's trailer was released. That's about it. I mean, you can sit here and believe that MP3 would have gotten that attention on its own, but even I couldn't do that.

That is what I am thinking. I mean understandably there is a huge following for GTA and more so then MP. Lets take the average consumer who know of GTA through the trailer (Non-forum visiting people obviously):

-I think the first set of people probably viewed the GTA V trailer and noticed MP3 videos but paid them no mind.

-The second set that did view MP3 through GTA V's trailer probably thought it was something interesting but were not as excited as they were for GTA. So in that sense MP3 might have had a negative effect due to GTA V.

-The third set that got excited by it after viewing the GTA V trailer most likely already knew about MP3, and are fans of the series.

Overall I do not see how GTA V has anything to do with MP3 other then the fact that the developer is R*
