wse_jack
I reinstalled this for the first time, and not only does my system exeede the reccomended specs whilst not even coming close to being able to play it smoothly while on high settings, but my controls that I rebound wont stick. I can bind them once, play, then when I quit and start it up again, they are back to defaults. I looked at the controlmap.dat file thingy in your appdata/local/ file, and it hasent changed since the install time. I tried uninstalling, then installing patch 4 as I heard some odd things about key maps and whatnot with the later patches, but no luck. This is a STUPID problem to have, it makes no sense whatsoever, not only that but it makes the game very unplayable. Has any one found a fix for this, Ive searched everywhere including the thred that seemed to be dedicated to this on this particular site, but the solution provided wasent a solution in the least. win 7 IE: 9800 GT 1 gig ddr3 8 gigs ram 3.2 GHZ athlon 2 x3 (with 4th core enabled)

mkey82
You will face issues running the game at high on that PC. Are you by any change using xliveless?
wse_jack
its odd that you cant run the game on high with anywhere near the reccomended specs, but anyhow what is xliveless. w
wse_jack
Figured this bitch out. Basicly, what you have to do is bind your controls in game, then hit escape to return to the game, and when it brings up the whole controls arent bound thing, you gotta hit escape again and it takes you to whatever isnt bound, then keep doing that till you have it all and then hit escape directly and go back into game. Also, what I did was ran the game in XP compatability mode (I changed all the EXEs in the program files folder) and I set each of those to run as administrator. I think you only need to do the first part, but I could have sworn that I DID that before. Any how I contacted RS who said that win 7 is not supported and they couldent help me but to try running it in compatabiliity mode. I mean thats totaly f*cking lame, but its not a surprise concidering that SAN Andreas wouldent work with a dual core processor (I mean it ran, but what it did was there were keyboard controls that wouldent work... what the hell is up with that?, you couldent shut down your cores either and fix it, it just went as usual, and I did this, and it f*cked up my mobo all the same...). But whatever, at least I got it down, GTA is gotta be one of the glitchyest games I have ever played. I get that there would be gameplay glitches, The world and AI and whatnot is still one of the most complex as I have seen (yhea, its better than skyrim in my opinion, by quite a bit too) but at the same time, the interface glitches and all the other bullsh*t is just unexeptable. On top of that, the whole forcing windows live and social club sh*t is rediculous.
wse_jack
Also, once those controls have been saved (you can tell by that the date on the controlmap.dat file has been updated) You can take off compatability mode so it dosent run like sh*t.
