DangerousAbe
You have to hand it to Rockstar Games, as they give us a little information regarding Grand Theft Auto V and gamers try to find every morsel of news they can – and who can blame them? Even though the developer has been a little bit quiet of late, this has not stopped a number of rumors from surfacing, but are they now bordering on the ridiculous. Take the idea of MotionScan, there has not been any proof Rockstar would implement this in GTA 5, but for some reason a few people hang on to the hope it will happen – even if it looks as though it will not. This now leads us to another piece of news, which was made official by Rockstar themselves. On their website they are looking for environment artists to help design games for next-gen consoles. As you can imagine, this has now started a huge debate, as there seems to be some confusion thinking this next-gen employment has something to do with GTA 5 – but can you really blame them? One article has reported the simple facts, but then asks if this job listing could have anything to do with the next Grand Theft Auto game, or even Red Dead Redemption 2? However, we were intrigued with what we read here, as they suggest GTA V could be coming to the Wii U. There are two things to argue this; the first is many gamers believe the Wii U not to be next-gen and the second; development of the game has to be far along now – unless it is launched on Nintendo’s upcoming console a little down the line? Nowgamer has a feeling that GTA V will be released on the next Xbox, as it looks as though Microsoft are a lot further in development than Sony is with the PS4. There’s still the possibility of an E3 announcement for the former, as Sony has said they will not mention the next PlayStation at all during the gaming event in the summer. We have to remember not to get ahead of ourselves here, as Rockstar has not stated Grand Theft Auto at all in the job listing; as well as their one they advertised last week to test an upcoming game. It’s hard to imagine GTA V on a next-gen console; however, Red Dead Redemption 2 is another story. http://www.inentertainment.co.uk/20120117/...gen-employment/ i personally i wouldn't mind those graphics on next gen consoles because that means more room for a bigger map and longer story line with more stuff to do/enter, instead of rockstar doing the best looking graphics and not leaving any room for much else. EDIT:Rockstar has removed all mention of "next-gen consoles" from a recent job ad. Very Funny Rockstar lol Edited January 17, 2012 by DangerousAbe
Vormek
Game companies are starting to develop games for the next gen according to rumors so it will probably be 3 more years before we see the new Playstation and Xbox. The new Nintendo might be here this year or next year but who cares about Nintendo? Anyway, someone stated that Playstation 3 has a 10 year life span and that they have no plans on releasing a PS4 any time soon. So with that in mind and by judging from those two pieces of statements I will go ahead and say that the new XBox and PS will be released in late 2014 at earliest! 2015 is the most likely year though, at least for Playstation. And if that's the case and game companies just starting to develop games for the next gen it will probably take 'em a few more years to complete a game so obviously the next GTA game after V will be on the next game. And yes I agree with you. It's ridiculous that not one piece of information has been revealed since Rockstar's statement after the release of the trailer. It's been 76 days since the trailer and it's getting a tad annoying. It's a long wait, even for Rockstar. But that might not be something negative. Imagine if you don't know anything about the game except from what we learned from the trailer. That would be awesome because we don't know what to expect and that, my ladies and gentlemen, is the ultimate hype! Slamman
Really already pointed out in the prior threads, people LOOKING for information are going to search out anything Rockstar are making public, but it's not a way to say anything firm about GTA V in particular
MotjoBoss
GTAV will NOT be for the next gen. They've been working on the game for a long time allready and now suddenly they need a designer? And besides, The next gen consoles won't be out for 2 years, cause the ps4 and the xbox aren't even officialy announced yet. At least this is what I think, I have no sources ofcourse . DjMiikkii
There are a few games that have been scheduled for 2013 as of late, and you probably won't hear much about them either. So it's not exactly out of the ordinary that we haven't heard anything yet. Maybe they feel they need more time for the development/testing process and figure releasing more info will put more pressure on them.
SchizNitz
GTA V won't come out for PS4 or xbox 720 or whatever. I'm pretty sure that most of the "environmental art" for GTA V is done by now, judging by the trailer.

ANYTHING.If they want it on the next gen consoles, they will work hard for it. It doesn't matter how far they are. Nonsense. As a developer, you plan a game for certain platforms, and then start developing. Now I know Red Dead Redemption was supposed to be released on the Xbox and PS2, but back then, they were at a very early developing state. Rockstar made sort of a testing game with Rockstar's Table Tennis (which was their first next gen game at the time), and then they decided to develop Red Dead Redemption further on for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Now, as we have already seen a whole trailer of GTA V with ingame footage, there is no other possibility than that it will be released for the current generation high end consoles. It DOES matter how far you are with a game.

GTA V will be next gen in the same fashion Bully: Scholarship Edition was IMO.

NYC PATROL
After V the earliest I think we can expect a new gta on "next-gen" consoles is probably around 2016-2017. Emphasis on earliest.

Emphasis on earliest. It depends on when the next consoles are released. If 2014 then early 2016 would be likely. A two year gap seems reasonable.
