Chukkles
I find it much easier to learn the cities using only the mini map and never looking at the full map. That way you learn the little areas on the mini first then start to piece it all together as one big place. IDK, it works for me. That and MP DM's that have you running all over smaller areas. CrowBarZ
Good Idea, I should try that. I'm doing something similar right now with GTA IV I just started a new game yesterday and the rules I did was to 1. Never run only walk (This would actually make you realize how beautiful Liberty City is and how R* spend hard work trying to make this game. Instead of passing by really fast on a car.) 2. Never steal a car. Use Public Transportation or Taxis/Cabs.. The only possible way to use a car is Romans Cab or Lambo given to you to keep. (Make it more realistic) Any other car given to you. Leave it when you are done with the mission and walk. 3. Never skip RED LIGHTS (Unless you are being chased by cops or trying to run away from someone) 4. Make it realistic, like you are Niko Bellic and how will you react to certain situations.. People fighting out of no where, COPS pointing a gun at someone ect. This actually makes the game longer and fun for me. I've never realized how cool Liberty City was until I did this. I spend like 10 minutes or some times 15 minutes because of the walking or transportation. However it could make the boring but you would actually learn a lot from this game. I will do the fun tweak with no radar. Wish me luck. Wow, this just made me wanna play through GTA 4 for the 15th time. Now to the OP: I've been doing that since my second playthrough. Ped crossings. The little walk no walk signs. Follow them as if their real.
Durden
Hmm interesting idea, OP. I might just try this eventually in a playthrough after the first. If there is a trophy like in GTA IV, for beating the game in a certain time period, I am surely doing that in my second playthrough, then No HUD in my third. The first playthrough should be relaxing, welcoming, savioured, and enjoyable.
StateofMind15
On gtaSA i would always have the hud off. I love the feel of adventure, AND the feel of danger. (since i cant see the health bar!) Hmm health bar off aye? Seems interesting, but with the direction most shooters are going today (including R*), I doubt the next GTA will have health bars at all. Like RDR, they will probably go with the screen turning red with the more damage you take. What I really hope is they do what Saints Row 3/Mafia 2 did - have a self healing health bar. This way, the self healing part will only go up to halfway, and you need to eat/drink to get the health to maximum. This way Cluckin Bells and Burger shot will still be in business If there is any kind of self healing, I wont be playing V
cp1dell
The thing I didn't really like about the recharging health in Red Dead Redemption, was that it made Medicine inferior. They could have at least let you sustain damage and wounds to about 15%, and anything lower than that would rechrage automatically back to 15%. Exkabewbikadid
Yeah, I liked turning radar off too. It was a challenge to come back home from some thrown village in desert. But I don't really like idea of adding difficulty levels. Just imagine it: Main Menu -> Game -> New Game -> Select Difficulty -> Play! Awful! That is damn Driver, not GTA! No, no, that isn't grown enough for Grand Theft Auto, especially the fifth era. whats wrong with that? I agree with him because GTA is open-ended enough that missions can vary from extremely easy to extremely difficult based purely on the nature of the mission itself. SA's Supply Lines is a good example of how ridiculously difficult a mission can be. I think I spent over 3 hours on it before I finally beat it the first time, but beating it left me with about as strong of a sense of accomplishment as I'm going to get in a game, and that's something that would've been lost if the option to pussy out by lowering the difficulty were there (because I'm sure I would have caved. ) As far as the hud goes, I like having the radar on my first go through, but the GPS route makes it so you don't really learn the map, so I turn it off. BaldadigeAnton
I'm going to try this the next time I play TBoGT. I noticed it before, but never turned it off. I do play with manual aim though. By the way this is just like the first time I found out about the Counter combo attacks of GTA IV, never knew it was there and it is awesome. I love the double nut kick, especially because it is an instant KO for the victim!

I remember the first time I played GTA IV. I didn't have a ps3 or xbox360 and was in the middle of my HSC. So I went to an arcade place and payed 20 bucks to play it for just 3 hours. Yeh, I was quite desperate Unfortunately I spent nearly half an hour just trying work out which button was the counter button. Great way to spend those precious 3 hours Edit: Nothing new has come out this month, so I thought I might raise this topic from the dead Edited February 3, 2012 by urbanfire
