kailomonkey
As long as the wanted goes away once you die, then a gang could hunt you down if it really wanted. It's like they took revenge and killed you, then ofcourse you live on as you do when killed by the police, as if nothing ever happened. Wonder what would happen if they captured you alive though (gang arrest ). Tortured? Given permanent scars? Lose a finger? Or a limb?? The wanted goes away even if you don't die yet. It'll eventually die down, and they'll stop looking for you. And the gang arrest idea is pretty cool, but it'll be hard to do...maybe they'll catch you, and force you to bring them to your safehouse. They'll burn it down, and you need to pay a lot to get it fixed. In the meantime, you have to sleep in a hotel, or something. i would have suggested a full experience but as with police, nobody wants to have to go through a side story every time they get arrested (even gang arrested). The same goes for losing resources or having to recover from an arrest. It wouldn't be used because mostly people would rather reload a savegame than have to go through it. A problem that would otherwise support lots of good ideas When I was thinking of wanted "to death" I was thinking more if the wanted system went away as you described, but if a crime was serious enough it would be unlikely to be shaken off (like a 5 or 6 star wanted level). Such as in reality when a ruthless gang is dedicated to administering revenge as a sign of its ruthlessness. In such a circumstance where they wouldn't rest until the person was dead, the problem would arise when the player simply respawns, so comparing it to the current system with police I tried to show that this unbelievable result is already present and would therefore be possible. If there was a more sustaining hostility level as some have described, it would probably be very slow and connected to the passage of a story. SGT. Johnson
A gang wanted system? H to the NO! GTA V does not need an extensive gang wanted system similar to the police. I'm about to piss a lot of people off by I don't care. Gangs are NOT that goddamn rich that they can afford to drive around in convoys of vehicles similar to the likes of SR and any others. That is "Hollywood" sh*t right there! Unrelaistic and totally boing and unecessary IMO. Two, gangs don't do that tactical sh*t that the police do, looking for you and wasting gang resources. They see you, you get shot at; plain and simple. Since I've played GTA II, I figure that Rockstar will go back to the GTA II era RESPECT BARS for gangs, ASSUMING THAT WE EVEN HAVE TO DEAL WITH GANGS THAT MUCH! This is GTA V; not San Andreas. For godsakes, I hope we DON'T have an extensive dealing with gangs (except for misions) and TURF WARS (unless they are a mission). Turf wars in San Andreas were pathetic and boring. Not only was the attacking squad pathetic and easy to kill, but the whole activity felt like a chore, and when it was finally done, you were like "That's it?" There was no great reward or incentive to do so; just a way for Rockstar to simply staple the plot together and support how you were a badass gangster with gold chains and clocks and a f*ckin fro! Sterotyping the gangster mentality of the 90s; nuff said. Anyways, keep the Police Wanted Level System, but leave the Gangs alone. Simply keep them shooting at you if hated and maybe the occassional drive-by now and then. There is no need for the gangs to become like that of SR, which is the most annoying gangs I've ever met. Plus, they simply run you over with their vehicles at one point and wield RPGS. WTF??? No thank you! Keep the RESPECT BARS; DOWN WITH A WANTED SYSTEM! Could be crap or not. Gang members do drive cars, you know? If they are looking for someone that bad, of course they would use a gun. And do you know anything about gangs? If you kill a member, they'll be looking for you. It's happened before. They are going to try to find you, and put a bullet through your brain. Official General
@ SGT.Johnson and IllnessGTA You both make good points, I see what the both of you are saying. Johnson, in a way you are right about street gangs generally not using tactical methods go around looking for an intended target to kill. There are many times a street gang will go out on the move around a city or town looking for a someone if they gotta kill that person, but for most part it is a case of " we will kill you when we see you" type of mentality they have. This is one of the main reasons why street gang members are almost always armed with guns, they are always on the move and they have to be ready to kill a target on sight the once the opportunity presents itself (very often an enemy will do the same). Since street gangs are very territorial by nature and very rarely stray out of their domains, it is more than likely an enemy, rival or anyone they want to kill, will still be be found within the vicinity, its just a matter of catching the target off-guard or when they are vulnerable. The targets of most street gang murders are rival street gang members as a collective, there is generally not always a specific target they will seek to kill. So yeah in way, what you said about this makes a lot sense. But regardless, it makes no difference whether its street gangs, mafias or drug cartels, they will all act the same - if they wanna badly kill someone, they WILL go around looking for them, no matter what it takes. So I think the idea is still relevant to GTA V. But Johnsons, I disagree with what said about gang wars in San Andreas though. You actually did get something for killing rival gang members and claiming their territory, the more territory you gained, the more money you made from it each week. And the gun battles where very well replicated as they would happen in real-life LA gang wars. I don't know what else you could have asked for at the time. In my view, it was very good for what it was at the time. Illness, still think a gang wanted system would be great and I would like to see it in GTA V, but it would have to done in a very sophisticated way. For instance this will simply not invlove hordes of gang members chasing you everytime they spot on their territory. I think the proposed gang wanted system should invlove just one carload of gang assassins following you around the map in a vehicle of some kind. A special warning system will notify you that there is a hit squad out to get you and you will be able to spot their location on the radar map. The hit squad will keep following you around on the map until it catches up with you and finds you, even while you are on a seperate mission or activity. You can choose to either keep evading the hit squad, or you can make your life easier and confront the hit squad, then kill them off if you can. Once that happens, you no longer have a price on your head and the hit is called off. However if you annoy the same gang again, the process will repeat itself. However if you don't kill off the hit squad they will always be looking for you, even if you save the game and end it - everytime you resume from the save point, the hit squad will burst into your safehouse and you may have to kill them right there and then, or just fight or shoot your way out and escape them. I think something like this will make GTA even more exciting and thrilling. Edited January 18, 2012 by Official General

I just don't want a gang system similar to SR is all, which is what I'm getting from the OP's wishes. If it is similar to how you were hunted in SA for debt and in LCS by Hitmen, then I'll be fine with that. Just to gloat, even if those gangs tried a tactical approach, I'd take them all down, headshots and all
Official General
@ SGT. Johnson I appreciate that you to took time to understand what I saying. I have Saints Row 2 and I did'nt even finsih playing it properly, it was just too gimmicky and silly for me to take seriously, and the graphics were too colourful and cartoony. So i can't even remember what kind of gang wanted system was in SR2, I just went off the game very quickly. Judging from this, I will believe you in saying that the gang wanted system in SR2 was a load of rubbish, a bit like the game itself. As for your gloasting, I feel you on that, I'd love the idea of hitmen in the game sent to find me, I'd relish the chance to pop heads too! As for your gloasting, I feel you on that, I'd love the idea of hitmen in the game sent to find me, I'd relish the chance to pop heads too! I took the liberty of making the gang system from SR2 noticeable: Gang Notoriety [edit] Gang/Police Notoriety By attacking/killing members of a particular gang, tagging in hoods owned by that gang, and destroying gang property you will raise your gang notoriety. This is shown by the coloured bar across the top half of the ring around the mini-map in the bottom left corner of the screen - red for the Brotherhood, yellow for the Ronin, green for the Samedi. Once the bar fills it resets to zero and a gang icon appears in the bar, up to a maximum of five. The more icons, the longer it will take for the notoriety to deplete to zero, and the more frequent and harsh the gang attacks against you will be. The gangs tend to be more tenacious than the police at the first two notoriety levels, although this is soon eclipsed by the police force's superior firepower in the higher notoriety levels. If you happen to have notoriety above zero for multiple gangs, the highest one will be displayed. [edit] Getting Rid of Notoriety You also have your own notoriety level with respect to the police, which increases whenever you do any illegal action that isn't traffic-or-gang-related, such as destroying public property like fences and signposts, running over/shooting pedestrians, and of course, assaulting police officers and police vehicles. Killing gang members will immediately raise your gang notoriety by one, but will NOT raise your police notoriety. You can be in serious trouble if you find yourself at above three in both gang and police notoriety, and are not in a hood you own where you have homies for backup. Later police notoriety levels become extremely difficult to deal with, so find a Forgive and Forget or an Activity/Mission quickly (outlined below). Providing you don't do anything to anger the cops or a particular gang, such as return fire on those shooting at you, and just escape, your notoriety will decrease slowly over time. The rates at which notorieties for each of the three gangs and the police diminish can be increased as level-based rewards for certain activities, which are specified in the Activities appendix of this guide. Alternatively, if you are near to a Forgive & Forget, marked with a devil with a halo icon in a green diamond on your maps, you can pay an amount of money proportional to your current notoriety levels to completely eliminate all current notoriety. Image As Designed plastic surgeons can also reduce your notoriety like this, as does starting any Activity or Mission (providing you're not currently in one). That'll be annoying, and I'll edit that out.
Official General
@ SGT. Johnson I think I remember it now, I do now remember taking part in some kind of wanted gang system. Its been so long since I played that nonesense! @ IllnessGTA Thanks bro, I just wish Rockstar could be implenting these ideas if they have not done so already. I really wanna have dealings and confrontations with these very dangerous and murderous Mexican Cartels regarding gang wanted systems, they are just about some real serious sh*t man!
