Gang wanted system

IllnessGTA

I'm thinking since GTASA was heavily about gangs that we should have our own gang wanted system in V, since it takes place in Los Santos.

It wouldn't be the typical 1 star 2 star thing. It'll be a gang wanted meter that fills up whenever you piss of a gang so much.

Say you kill a a gang member, from any gang. He won't just be on his own, so around the street, gang members will come to attack. You can leave the area before more gang members come back, but when you go back there, you will see a lot of gangsters on the look out for you. If they spot you, they will fire upon you, and your bar will go up again (depends if you change your clothes or hair or similar when going back to the area, so they might not recognise you).

But if you kill a few more gang members or a load more, the area in the map will be coloured red meaning 'dangerous.' It'll be dangerous for a few days. Your gang wanted meter will fill back up once you enter the area, and some gang members may chase you in cars, and call for backup. The area will be swarming with armed gangsters.

If the gang meter goes all the way up to the top, you have to be careful (you only get this if you cause destruction against a gang e.g kill over 100 or blow up a load of their vehicles) since if you enter a shop, a few gang members may be waiting for you, with bats and knives. There will be cars looking for you, and the dangerous highlighted area will be spread out. A lot more gang cars will begin chasing you, and they may get you by surprise.

If you kill a gang member without his buddies seeing, you can go back to the area without being paranoid that they will attack. You will just see more gang members around the area.

If you just fight a few gang members and KO them, they will fight back, but they won't really care about going after you. Your meter will go up only slightly.

So what's your opinion of this idea?

Or they could just make it the same as the police, exept for gangs. Saints Row 2 actually has thhe same kind of system.

That's too similar to SR. Why make it like a copy of how SR did the gang system?

No-one has a problem with every game having the same police system as GTA, so why does it matter?

Having the gangs do the same thing as the police isn't very creative. They should do something more gang like, not police like.

Have a meter for each gang in the menu somewhere, like in the stats. The more the meter goes up, the more you will see their cars around the city and gang member searching on foot for you. The meters go down if you do jobs for the gangs or you just wait for it to go down.

great idea that I was hoping would show up in IV.

Like for instance I also thought that in IV after u killed Vlad and had to pay Mr Faustin back becasuse of your actions, u should have been followed by his Mr Faustins guys like when u go work for LJ and then maybve later when u walk back to Mr Faustin for work he'd question u what u been up to or what u've been doin with that rasta or whatever

so to sum up your bosses should have people keepin an eye on u when not on a mission or on your way to a mssion like sitting around the corenr in a car waitin for u when u exit your safehouse

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

A gang wanted level system is a pretty decent idea in my opinion.

Honestly though, I think it would be great if respect became a factor with gangs again in a similar fashion to that of Grand Theft Auto 2 but more refined, if the protagonist isn't affiliated with a particular gang. For example, you do side-jobs for a gang and kill rival gang members and the respect for you from that particular gang will go up, which means you can do higher-paying jobs for them and eventually recruit them to help you out. On the flip side, killing members of a gang would decrease their respect for you (while increasing rival gang respect) and will eventually cause them to carry/shoot at you with more advanced/stronger weaponry and give chase to you in vehicles whenever you enter their territory.

I would like to see a similar respect system from Grand Theft Auto 2 return as it is a mostly player controlled system. You want to start a war and have a shootout with a particular gang for the fun of it, kill a bunch of members from that gang and away you go.

Almost all GTAclones have had a "gang heat" feature. Scarface as I can remember if you had a high gang heat then as soon as you entered into a gangs territory they were waiting for you and would go nuts. Saints Row was the exact same as the cops. They'd come at you from anywhere in the city. Scarface has the right idea, it just needs the GTA wanted system spin in it and it would be awesome.

Probably not. SR had stars for gangs. This is different from the SR's 'get chased by gangsters in cars, then more, then more.'

You mean fill up the whole meter? About 2 cars at once, and maybe some gangsters follow you by foot, to attack.

or the gang members can just get high and not worry about one bloke

Throw weed into the ground to make them forget about you.

It's a stupid idea. I don't want a stupid gangmeter, wtf?

I dont need my screen filled up with meters and sh*t. When a gang is pissed of at you, you'll notice.

Like Crackdown?

It may be real, but stupid...

I think that can be better like Fallout NV: When you kill someone in a village

you being ''hated'' there.

Bah... NVM

in the 1 2 3 4 5 and 6 stars will tell you how many gang cars will arrive the car icon will tell you that the gang cars arrive

GREAT idea!, i want GTA V to be centered heavily about gangs, and it will be a very good idea if they included a 'heat' system for gangs, like if you killed a gang member, then left the area, they will start looking for you,..

I agree. With this reply and with the main idea. A gang system could be great but it should be tailored perfectly to gang culture.

I'd like to see gangs ocasionally coming after you outside of their territories, but mostly staying within, or perhaps venturing out more as a gang war is heating up, which could be part of the story. I'd also like to see police affected more by territory, since I'm pretty sure in reality there are some neighbourhoods that, once under heavy gang control, are mostly unaffected by police/state except where there is a call for intervention. So roaming into these areas when wanted by police could make them turn away. Again, unless there is a call, so a certain number of wanted stars. It was disturbing to see police patroling the streets of east los santos in SA, ignoring drug dealers and prostitutes, then chasing you when you punched someone.

Triple Vacuum Seal

There should be a system of minigames/illegal favors (like the Little Jacob drug dealing) for each major non-rival gang in the game where you earn different street rep percentage with each gang. If you don't do favors then your rep is at the level of a civilian (50%)......Tell me what you guys think?

0-20%(you constantly kill or fight that gang) - the gang members shoot at you on sight

20%-40% (you kill a gang member here or there after being harassed) - the gang confronts and attacks you on sight but unarmed

40%-60%(you do little to no minigames/illegal favors) - treated like a civilian so you might just get mugged or hassled but nothing major...if at 55% (may have done just one favor for the game) or higher they just leave you alone

60-80% (you have done a decent amount of minigames/illegal favors) - you are greeted when you pass them and they help you in unarmed fights

80-100% (you have done several favors for the gang) - the members are recruit-able and assist in fights with guns

Good idea. Maybe when there is 4 to 6 stars, the police would still enter the area. If it is 1-3 stars, then they would try to stay away. And there should be police investigations in some neighbourhoods.

I'd rather there not be a gang wanted system as I thought this was incredibly cheeseball in SR. Gangs do not have the same resources as local and state governments (it's so ridiculous when they send helicopters after you like in SR). In any case, the police/SWAT/FIB/military should be more than adequate for the primary wanted system.

You should still have gang notoriety however. You should have to choose which of various enemy gangs you will do missions for, e.g., completing missions for Grove St. precludes completing missions for the Ballas and vice versa. Depending on what missions you choose to do, you will incur the notoriety of the enemy gang and get attacked by them whenever you are in their turf (not unlike SA). It would be cool if members of a gang with which you have notoriety occasionally try to drive-by or assassinate you when you are not in their turf, though nothing more extensive than that. Gangs shouldn't come attacking you in massive waves or while you are already engaging the police, it would seem stupid and unrealistic.

But it's nothing like SR's wanted system. Didn't you read the post? Mine was completely different, and more realistic.

a gang wanted level is a great idea, if executed correctly, and not over done. maybe if u continually shoot up a certain gang for no reason, they could remember and shoot on sight next time they see you. and relentlessly hunt you down.

if u just get into a quick altercation you could have to flee the area without being seen by the gang members.

Yes. If you kill a gang member or a few but no other gang members see you, and you flee, the gang meter will just go down, and the gang members will not chase you down.
