Dude, you could say that for the military, who aren't even as smart as proper skilled agents. The snipers should be tough and so should the agents.

Stop the quote train.

The military is well, the military. Everyone is trained. These aren't retarded battle droids or clones we're talking about. And what the hell do you mean by agents? We talking about The Matrix or one of the Bourne movies here? You know that's not real, right? All of this Shooter and Salt sh*t where Snipers and Assassins are infinitely knowledgeable and invincible is all just Hollywood. The snipers you're referring to could be in the Army.

@JoanCrawford: Read above. I was being sarcastic about First Blood, but it's still a more realistic plot than any of the Bourne movies or any like them. If you want to talk about realism, go look for a documentary about these agents you speak of.

Yes, there are agents in the world. Not like in the movies with the stupid suits and such though.

Are you REALLY referring to agents that are trained assassins, nearly impossible to kill, working for secret branches of the government? If you really think that is more "realistic" than the Army, then this conversation is over.

No!!! They are't stereotypes. They work with the police and look like normal people. They are good with guns but they aren't the stupid agents in movies with suits and crap like that.

It would be cool if the S.A.S came if you committed a terrorist like crime or robbed a bank.

For god's sake take it to PM. Any more personal sh*t in this thread will be dealt with. I don't care who's guilty of it. confused.gif

Anyway as much as I enjoyed GTA IV having the army would've added more replay value. My favourite past time used to be going on rampages in the Rhino and going head to head with the other military tanks.

As for realistic vs unrealistic well IMO having the army included is more realistic than not having them at all. GTA IV was a more believable game, but it still wasn't 100% realistic. You can walk around the streets with a rocket launcher and no one will pay attention unless you use it.

The general impression I get from GTA V is it wont be as story dependent as GTA IV and perhaps be stuck between GTA IV, SA and maybe TBOGT. The army coming back is a possibility. Though R* could make army response a bit more realistic and rarer. Only in the most extreme case would they be called in. Like you start attacking government facilities or whatever.

If the army itself doesn't come back I hope the Rhino does in its strongest and most bad ass rendition yet. I don't want the pussy APC from TBOGT to come back to be honest.

Totally agree. I remember I was so disappointed with the APC in TBOGT as well sad.gif Then again I didn't miss the tank or military in IV at all. And if GTA V wouldn't have them either I wouldn't care that much. Actually, the NOOSE team which is based on Homeland Security, SWAT and such will do fine by me. But I do have fond memories of the Rhino in GTA III cool.gif

Also if there were to be tanks hunting you down maybe we should get a Hulk cheat? tounge.gif

Wow I really get caught up in interesting topics. I spent the last 45 minutes reading this thread XD

But for my two cents, I loved the army. When I was 6 years old (yes, SIX) I was watching my teenage brother pummel the crap outta 3 tanks, and I loved it especially when I got to play. I was absolutely devastated when R* didn't include the Army in GTA IV.

It doesn't have to be unrealistic. Maybe they won't show up in RHINO tanks exploding the sh*t outta everything they touch, but maybe they can show up in trucks like in GTA III. Armoured camoflouged trucks, or Bulldogs with turrets on the roofs.

BUT, they should not be as strong as they were in GTA III.

I remember I was driving to a mission, when I crashed with a pedestrian's car and I swerved right through a fence. I crash into a wall, and as I am backing out, I see 5 dudes in Green Camouflage just standing there with Assualt Rifles. I'm paralyzed at this point, wandering WTF is gonna happen. They all start shooting at my car.

0.00000000003 seconds later, I was dead. Don't make them that strong, make them stronger than the SWAT though.

Return of the army is a must. I don't buy this crap about realism. I've literally killed thousands of people and crashed dozens of choppers in IV. Very realistic... Since when is GTA all about realism anyway?

The way I see it is like this:

Realism =/= games.

The more realistic it is, the less fun to be had.

I like a game like San Andreas where you could beat up a cop with a dildo and then go mess around in a tank.

So, I am for the army.

Why isn't this a poll? monocle.gif

Not necessarily. On the opposite I find games that are too far fetched less fun. The good thing about the GTA series is it always seems to be sitting in the middle. Not too far fetched and not too realistic IMHO.

GTA IV was perhaps a more serious game in terms of narrative and certain details around the environment, but its core was still pretty much the same.

'Fun' is subjective. What you find fun and I find fun are two different things. For example, I love realism and I have fun with it.

I was just stating my point from my perspective.

I prefer it if it was similar to San Andreas in terms of fun.

It's bad enough they're going back to L.A. but if the military isn't included despite military planes being in the game then Rockstar is drinking some good syrup.

It should not be in the game. There is not much realism in it.

Have you never seen First Blood? If someone goes on a massive killing spree and Law Enforcement is unable to stop them, the armed forces WILL be brought in to deal with the situation. So if you don't want it in the game, you'll need a better excuse.

First Blood isn't a realistic film.

Dont matter. It is the truth. If some guy was running around in real life blowing up cars, and if he was able to kill all cops in his path, the higher ups would be called in. (army, navy, who knows).

I doubt 10 tanks and military helicopters with gatling guns will chase down one guy. That'll be embarrassing for the nation...

More embarrassing than having a ton of citizens massacred by one guy nobody seems to be able to stop?

Still, it shouldn't be loud tanks and such. Just bring in skilled snipers or skilled agents to take care of this guy, not an onslaught of tanks that would probably cause more damage and death than you have to their buddies.

Yes. icon14.gif

And what happens when the guy kills the skilled snipers and agents? Send more so he can kill them too?

Also, why did you feel the need to write "loud tanks"? When have you ever heard of a quiet tank?

Dude, you could say that for the military, who aren't even as smart as proper skilled agents. The snipers should be tough and so should the agents.

Yeah but destroying tanks was seriously hard in old GTA's (good challenge). I can't imagine agents/snipers being more fun.

Snipers and agents will be good challenges as well, which equals fun.

And realism.

Jeez. Why would taking out snipers and special agents would be more fun than trying to steal a rhino while being shot at? You realism whores just don't understand the concept of FUN dozingoff.gif

Stop the quote pyramid already! Also, I'd love to see the army in the game as long as they don't chase you. Well, they could chase you, but only in one cross-country mission or something.

As for a base? Not including one would be kinda stupid. They did add the APC in TBOGT, so they will most likely add APCs and/or tanks in V.

Also, you can't tell someone they don't understand the concept of fun. If your idea of fun is Saints Row, so be it, as long as you don't tell other people what they should or should not like. I'm all for realism, as long as it's not stopping you from having fun. The realism in IV didn't. It's not because of realism they removed so many things. It's because they used a then-new engine and they didn't want to push it to the limits with its second game.

How is it even a question of whether the military will be featured? You can see the goddamn Hydra in the trailer! I doubt it's privately owned. Military is coming back and it will be glorious and all the vehicles should be more realistic. Everyone wins.

Damn, people. Stop talking sh*t about realism and all that.

Grand theft Auto is not about realism, only in its last versions. I don't even care, dude. Sure, it's a bit unrealistic, but it's still fun. wink.gif

Actually, if someone were gunning down scores of SWAT teams and shooting down helicopters, it's perfectly feasible that the army would be called in to deal with them.

When you kill 20 people with an RPG or what ever the army will come and try to take you out, at least that's what I will do if that would happen in my city.

By the way, The army means:

- The Rhino

- The leviathan

- The destoyer

- The Barracks OL

- The Cargobob

- The Flatbed

- The Hydra

- The Mesa Grane (military)

- The Patriot (military)

- And my favourite the Hunter.

So I vote YES for the army.
