McFilck
Hello. Just bought GTAIV-EFLC a few weeks ago. I've been able to play it for a while, then all of a sudden It just does't start anymore. I click "launcheflc.exe", the cursor spins for a while but nothing happens. The only alteration I did on my pc was updating my antivirus (bitdefender). But I even tried turning it off and the game still won't run. I tried reinstaling it, but it's the same. Weird thing, when I reinstall it doesn't ask me for the register code, just checks the release date. I read that there had been some problems regarding this file and Securom. Can it be? I'm not even trying to play multiplayer, just sp. And since I don't get a activation dialog box, I don't even know how to get the Unlock Request Code to do the activation manually. Please help me. I was really enjoying playing it.
Girish
http://www.rockstargames.com/support/IV/PC/GFWLupdate/ Download and install that update. Check if the game starts then.
mkey82
You can revoke the game license (there is a link in the EFLC programs group) and then activate the game again. Do you have some disk imaging software running in the background?
McFilck
Girish: Didn't work. I also updated the game, with the same dissapointing result. mkey82: I try the revoke activation button and the offline activation, but it's the same: spinning cursor and nothing. Thank you both for the answers. Anyone knows how to get a "Unlock Request Code" so I can try manual validation?
mkey82
Mare sure to reinstall the vc++ libraries from the game's redistributables folder.
Girish
Try Xliveless and check if you can run the game then. Just copy the xlive.dll file to your GTA IV folder.
McFilck
"Mare sure to reinstall the vc++ libraries from the game's redistributables folder." mkey82: Couldn't find those. Where are they? Girish: Hey, that worked! But ingame, everything keeps spinning around, like I'm moving my mouse around. How do I fix this? Again, thanks to both for the replies! mkey82
There should be a redistributables folder on the game DVD.
McFilck
So, Xliveless worked. I can play using the "EFLC.exe", but that gets the drunkness effect. I've been reading topics that say that can be solved by using "launchEFLC.exe", wich leads us to the begining: my "launchEFLC.exe" doesn't do anything... Any ideas? mkey82
You have to start the game with the launcher.

I've been reading topics that say that can be solved by using "launchEFLC.exe", wich leads us to the begining: my "launchEFLC.exe" doesn't do anything... Any ideas? If i'm not mistaken, the "Drunkiness effect" is a sign that was put into the game for people who obtained the game illegally? So, with that being said, Where did you obtain your copy of the game from: Is is the Retail(DVD) version OR a Downloaded version? If Downloaded, from where? If Retail, Is this the Original DVD being used OR a No-DVD crack OR a Copy of the DVD? Any Daemon tools or the like installed on PC?-these can interfere with games... The "Drunk camera" is NOT a Xliveless issue, as I use it on BOTH the DVD version and the Steam version and have not experienced that problem.... Weird thing, when I reinstall it doesn't ask me for the register code, just checks the release date.I read that there had been some problems regarding this file and Securom. Can it be? And since I don't get a activation dialog box, I don't even know how to get the Unlock Request Code to do the activation manually Internet is REQUIRED to activate the game, so Is you internet connection active? Is you internet speed fast enough?
McFilck
Radioman: Its the original DVD I bought on retail. Perfectly legit. I'm usually online, I just try the offline installation to see if I could do it that way.
McFilck
It's Bitdefender. The game runs when I uninstall it.
mkey82
Interesting, you can probably add the game exe to the safe applications list so that bitdefender leaves them alone.
