ThePartTimer
The Children of Men Theory A short time ago I was discussing with a friend of mine about the horrific Ghost baby stroller we watched on YouTube via Cracked.com, and I asked where all the children were. My friend stated the possibility of everyone in the game being sterile and unable to produce children. The real reason outside the game is obviously the controversy it would create to add children in a crime-based game like GTA, but in universe this would be very plausible. In 1992 there was a dystopian novel written by P. D. James , were every man on the lost the ability to produce offspring, the book was later adopted by Hollywood and became a huge success as a film. I personally suggested that my friend’s theory reflected this book/film, and that GTA might have a similar situation were no-one can produce any children, since there no pregnant females to be found, and every city is a plethora of prostitutes and pimps . There are also playgrounds to be found at various locations like the Firefly projects, Liberty City were the infamous Swing Glitch is located. Also in ‘’The Children of Men’’ everybody was older than 18 and the youngest person in the world (an Argentine man) got killed in the first chapter/scene. In short: everyone is sterile. Nguyen Van Minh. Disclaimer: I did search for this on the forum and found no results, if this theory ready exists, I apologize for this inconvenience. If this theory is original to the (but not limited to) the domain of the Internet, I (Nguyen Van Minh) do not claim to have invented the theory, that was the doing of my (not to be named ) friend, I only named and posted the theory. Djdevin10
Ok, this theory is very flawed. If everybody was sterile, then why isn't it such a big deal in the game? Also some of the protagonist would not exist, as in GTA:London was set in the 60's, didn't have any children, yet in GTA 1 and in GTA 2(which is set in the same era) the protagonist is in their mid 20's. I honestly think that children are required by law to stay inside before and after school, because all gta enviorments are dangerous.(And TECHNICALLY, in GTA VCS, there is a small baby.....) bluesboyjr
Doesn't work, sorry. Kids are mentioned (and sometimes heard, like in the Degenatron ads in VC) on the radio. They exist in the universe, but Rockstar doesn't need some madcap theory to explain the fact they're not allowed to let you blow one up.

PowerKracker
I'd rather think that the GTA cities are top-secret experiments on isolated islands where everyone except the named characters is a semi-sentient clone. That's why a lot of people look the same, and your punishment for killing them is a slap on a wrist, and you only get in serious trouble if you kill a real person. That's why there are no children and people never run out even if you massacre a multiple of the population in a small village. The information is also controlled, which is why we do hear of the rest of the world except the counterpart cities (e.g. NYC). The real people who get into the GTA cities are in fact e.g. convicts, volunteers, etc. who get their memories replaced before departure. The GTA III canon is also merely a film series in the IV canon - which is why you see locations from SA on the in-game TV. Boy I love crazy theories. MostOfAll
That theory was compelling at first, but now that I think more about it, I'm going to disagree with it. Here's my theory: Since the locations in Grand Theft Auto are obviously very crime-ridden, the government required that every child would be taken to some camp so that they could be protected from crime. The government hoped that the children would be safe from the world of crime and the influence of crime.
