The PS3 version

PS3 is only slightly more powerful than the Xbox 360 and that has nothing to do with the disk space (which has more to do with the developers content distribution on disk) for all of these ps3 fanboys trying to sound technical. I believe that the ps3 has always had a slight upper hand over the 360 but not to the extent it should have an upper hand given that it came out later than the 360 and the higher price didn't correlate with the quality as Sony essentially had at least an extra year to see what the competition had on the market.

 

 

I have never in my life seen a game on ps3 that was much better than its 360 counterpart. They are essentailly the same console but most ps3 owners want to convince themselves and others that the extra buck was well spent and I can respect that effort but GTA5 will likely be the same on both.

Well it will come to both, but the only reason the ps3 has an advantage over the competitors is because of all ps3 systems have a hard drive, and all ps3 systems have blu ray. Meaning that disk space is not an issue on ps3. Other then that, there even.

Both consoles have their pros but trust me the extra money for the ps3 did go somewhere mostly the blu ray storage which is starting to pay off now as games are getting considerably larger and ambitious its also a problem Sam Houser himself brought up Link at one point which has hopefully been resolved without the need for multiple disks when the game arrives.

Agreed. Blu Ray (128 GB max) is mad nice. I just think that by the time 360 owners really become truly disadvantaged by the disc space, the new consoles will come rolling in.

 

It will be interesting seeing Microsoft's response to Blu Ray next time around given that Blu Ray was Sony's go to disc. They certainly can't use the competition's product but there is lots of hope for both companies in terms of optical disc as we now have discs that can hold over a 1 TERABYTE (protein coated disc, ls-r and holographic disc). That is if we still used discs on the next gen consoles.

Keep this in mind, MOST of all the comparision videos are BIASED. One looks at it and says OH DEFINITLEY, Xbox 360 looks better. I think both of them will look the same, it doesn't matter which console you play as long as it's smooth and looks to your preference. Xbox 360 users should worry how the game looks like on the 360. PS3 users should worry how the game looks on the ps3. Simple.

It's easy to make a game darker and less sharp, it's impossible the other way around unless you've got the hardware for it.

And where exactly did you learn this from? Because you might want to inform your source they are wrong.

 

-The darker/lighter can be adjusted by brightness in the game, or on your screen. You don't need "a better GPU" for a lighter or brighter picture, it's just color settings and comes down to software.

 

-The "blur" you're seeing on PS3 (and 360) is applied afterwards. If everything was rendered raw with no after effects, you'd essentially have the same exact extremely sharp picture on either GPU. The blur is there to make up for the lack of anti-aliasing.

As someone who's owned the PS3 and 360 version of GTA IV here's my thoughts.

 

I honestly didn't notice any significant difference between framerate, textures etc. As for graphics I slightly prefer the 360 version, but even then the differences are so miniscule they're hardly worth mentioning.

 

I'll more than likely buy GTA V for 360 as it's the console I use the most for gaming and the fact most of my friends are 360 players. Keep in mind I have a longer history with Playstation consoles than Xbox. My first was a PS1 back in 1997.

Yes it is. Holding PS3 IV copy now... supports 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. Every tv/monitor I have used in conjunction with my PS3 has displayed IV in 720p or 1080i. The PS3 version is also celebrated for having less aliasing and pop-ins.

The only people that say that one version is better than the other or that R* prefers one console to the other are usually the people who have only played it on one console.

 

Honestly, every post on here is just "well the PS3 warmer colour palette yadda yadda I think R* prefers this console because I know everything" or "the 360 is R*'s favorite its their original console". Honestly, its getting very, very tiresome.

 

Look at any comparison video on the internet of a R* game such as RDR or GTA IV on YouTube. There really is no difference at all. Any difference you see is personal bias manifesting itself. They look VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL.

 

You're all beating a dead horse here. The games will most likely be identical in every way (AGAIN) so you can stop this console fanboy war and lock this thread.

Brendan McNamara said they made LA NOIRE for the PS3 and then ported it over to the XBOX. And also stated it was easier that way he also said a lot of developers are using XBOX then porting over to the PS3. Which is why PS3 games look like sh*t I hope R* learnt from this and will create it for the PS3 then port it over. I may also state that if developers are using the 360 first then porting it over to PS3 it kills the PS3s capabilitys. LA NOIRE runs better on the PS3 and PS3 exclusives like UNCHARTED 3 and upcoming The Last Of Us are really using to PS3 to its full potential and are showing the PS3 is more powerful then the 360. This is true because you have 2 consoles one has a smaller disc and the other has BLU RAY you want the games to be the same on both consoles. But one has limited space you have to make the game for the one with limited space dont you. Otherwise you may go over the 360 disc space and end up having to pay for another disc or cut back the game. Red Dead and GTA IV was made for the 360 first then ported to PS3. Some searching on the internet and you will find this out to be true. PS3 games will be better this has also been said PS3 games are getting better its easier to make for the PS3 and then port to XBOX. As stated by Brendan McNamara about LA NOIRE. PS3 has not even been shown to be at its best because developers have made games for the XBOX first then had a hard time porting them over to PS3 but its actually easier to do it the other way around. If developers learn from this including R* then ps3 owners can expect to see there games get alot better then XBOX. I hated the way Red Dead looked on PS3 and thats R*s fault for making it for the XBOX first then porting it to the PS3 it had to downgrade to 640p and had to downgrade on the draw distance. Its only PS3 exclusives that show PS3 off for what it can truely do. So I hope R* learnt from LA NOIRE and will do PS3 then port to XBOX 360. Developers need to learn to start with the PS3 then port to xbox 360 its easier.

LA Noire was basically unplayable on the Xbox 360 lol. If every game was developed on the PS3 then ported to the 360 like that, the 360 would be dead.
