What side mission is a must for V

What up GTAV crew. I have checked up on this forum pretty regular since the trailer release, and am not sure I have seen this specific topic yet.

Before IV all, I new was a little III and VC. My favorite side mission of III (from what I was exposed too) was the collecting a cars mission. When I finally got to that in IV, it was happy and sad, I like the idea of having to actually find the cars yourself, and not be told where the next one is. I was also pretty sad that the ambulance and firetruck missions were absent, though I really liked the vigilante missions in IV.

I only recently (within the last month) started up San Andreas to see what the deal was with Los Santos colgate.gif . I was amazed with the side activities to do. I think my favorite so far are the pimping missions. Something cool about having a reason to drive around the city and kill a couple dudes who are getting rough tounge.gif

Personally, I thought the Paramedic missions were a bit repetitive. I only did them to earn 100%, so I don't really care much for those returning though I won't have anything against it. However, I'd love Vigilante missions to return. I loved them in GTA IV.

Taxi missions and the return of the Borgnine cab! I just always liked cruising around the cities and being all cab driver like. Dunno why, just do.

I thought the vigilante missions in IV were much more fun than from previous games, I hope they're limitless this time around though. No more of this temporary side mission crap.

Honestly, they should make the work-related side missions more fun and immersive.

Here's my example of how Rockstar should re-work it:

We have one guy and we'll call him Albert.

Albert is able to go to a police station, Hospital, Fire Department, Taxi Company, and even other places like a Sanitation Department. Each area is enterable and each place has a specific spot to do these side missions. Each time a mision is started you will get a cutscene that is something like this:

"Now hiring; apply within"

Police- because so many people hate the fact of playing as a cop and to keep the original theme of Vigiliante in tact, you will ask to apply for a job at the PD; you will get a response like "Sorry, but it's not that simple. You need to apply online and go through a Police Academy for about 6 months". Your protag will be like "No thanks." And begin to leave when a criminalist comes out of nowhere and pulls you aside. He says "Looking to make some quick cash in the Law Enforcment field or something?" You will just look at him questionably. He'll then say, "I can do just that; I have a list of people that have been more than a handful for the police. I can give you their names and you take them out. Don't worry; you are doing the department a favor so we will not interfere until the job is done (NO WANTED LEVEL). If you are interested, call me; here's my cell. We'll be in touch". You leave the deaprtment and get a prompt saying " The criminalist's phone # has been added to your contacts. You can accept Vigiliante missions from your phone at any time."

Example:

Criminalist: Some low life Drug Dealer thinks he's pretty damn slick and is making us look like fools! He hangs out around Wilshire, in a rundown apartment building. Should be easy pickings, but he might have company. Use caution; call me when it's done and I'll send the "boys" over to take care of the rest."

**Albert Hangs up phone.**

**Albert goes to the location, kills the target and his company**

Criminalist: "I guess everything is alright then; the police are enroute and so are my boys; make yourself scarce as it will make the story easir to tell the Chief."

**Albert hangs up the phone**

SYNOPSIS: Basically it is more of a hitman style and focuses more on the Most Wanted style of Vigilante. I haven't figured out a way to do the original Vigilante concept without consequences from the Law.

Paramedic- Albert walks into the hospital and asks about the volunteer program they are running. The Nurse at the desks says "Yes we are running a volunteer program here; are you interested"? Albert seems nonchalant. "We also have a paid volunteer program if you'd like that?" Albert seems interested. "Pay you say? I'm in."

Albert is put outside in a paramedic outfit and is prompted to enter the ambulance. A call goes out on the radio about a stab victim in Hollywood distcict; apparently, something went wrong during a movie shoot. Albert responds to the scene, picks up the patient and drives him/her back to the hospital. He is payed $1,000. A prompt comes up saying "You can continue Paramedic misions anytime; you must enter the Ambulance to trigger it and must be wearing the Paid Volunteer uniform.

Firefighter- Albert walks into the Fire department and notices a "Now Hiring for LSFD". Albert inquires about the sign. Yet another volunteer program is discussed, but the Chief seems distruaght as he had to fire several firefighters due to their laziness on the job (GTA IV joke). Albert sympathizes with the Chief, and is hired.

Albert is put inside the Fire Station, in a fire suit as a call comes out over the speaker about a house fire in the Downtown district. The chief and two other firefighters rush to the Firetruck and proceed to the area. The Chief orders Albert to focus on putting out the flames as the Chief and the other two officers go into the building (don't worry, you get "promoted as you progress"). Once the fire is out, Albert and the rest of the firefighters will drive back ot the Station, where the Chief will pay Albert andthe crew their money: $1,000. You will soon get a prompt "You can continue Firefighter missions antime you want. You must have the Firefighter outfit equipped and must be at the Fire Station.

Taxi- Albert walks into the Cab Company, Mean Street Taxis, and asks about the sign "Now Hiring". The desk guy asks him a few, easy questions which Albert answers. A few seconds later, the desk guy simply says "You're hired. Grab one of the cabs out back and get to work. Time is money!".

Albert proceeds to one of the cabs and waits for a call over the radio; a fare is waiting at 1224 West Simpleton. Albert proceeds to the fare, picks him/her up and drives her to the location. The fare gives Albert a few extra $$ for getting him/her there early. Albert drives back to the Cab company. The desk guy comes out and says "Here's your pay." $500 is given to Albert. A prompt comes up saying "You can ontinue Taxi missions anytime you want by entering the Taxi from the Cab depot."

I'll stop here and update later; hopefully you get the idea by now.

I don't think they should be limitless, but perhaps a bit more for each side mission like say 30 each? I mean who's going to keep playing the same side mission over and over again countless times?

What I liked about GTA IV is the side missions ended before they got too repetitive and stale. I was actually playing VC last night doing the taxi missions and after 11 it was already starting to bore me to sh*t.

I would rather less side missions that aren't so repetitive than countless side missions that are.

I'd actually keep playing the side mission over again if I really liked it. In TBOGT I really liked Drug Wars, and that's why I have over 200 completed. I'm happy I can always go back and do more whenever I want, and I'd want it to stay that way.

That's why I'm in so much favor of the limitless idea. If you do get bored of them, then you can just stop doing them, but you can always come back later and do more if you're in the mood.

Fair point. I suppose it's not too bad of an idea, but I feel I would enjoy more variety in the side missions themselves if there were less of them.

Variety is a good thing as well. But let's say there are 30 of a particular side mission, and each is unique and full of variety. Why not just give the ability to replay them after you complete them all? It could be similar to how you can replay missions in TBOGT. I think that could work.

Im sorta hoping for some honest and regularly stable ways to make money, odd jobs and favors for crooks are good but there should be some 'side mission' that is honest, which u can gain money from, either thro investments or trading or sumtin

TAXI DRIVING is a must 24/7 in the game. It's sh*t you can only do a few fares for roman in IV. Believe it or not i like driving people around while i listen to the radio. Its one of my favorite past times in gta games

Lets put it this way. When i first get the ability to freerom in v i'm going to steal a cab listen to music and get used to the map while taking in the sites getting high ( in real life) And enjoying the game

Starting as a taxi driver is my tradition and they ruined it in san andreas ( Stupid tip meter i hated that sh*t IM NOT DOING THIS FOR FREE if i crash the car a few times it's not my fault and you still have to pay me bitch) just give me a taxi to drive with no tip meter please

Sorry about this post im obessed with taxi missions what can i say lol

I hated the Tip meter as well. You crash by accident and they don't pay you extra. Hope they don't have that in if they bring the taxi missions back.

I liked the turf wars from SA, although I'm not sure how they would do it in V without being in a street gang.

Also, I'm sure near the top of everyone's list of favorite missions in IV is the bank heist. I think it would great if they added a bank robbing side mission in there. Rob as many banks as you want, the bigger the bank, the harder it is. Complete with duffel bags and ski masks.

You do taxi missions throughout the game even after Roman's Taxi Company burns down, every time you meet up with friends or dates, except with them you get mini-games too.

Personally, since I've done at least 500 taxi missions since GTA III, I'm kind of done with them. They're fun to start with but doing 100 gets dull. The 9 or so taxi fares in IV were a nice reminder of the past and their low number meant they didn't outstay their welcome. However, I would like it if there was more dialogue between the player and the fare (kind of like the actual missions that start out as fares), and if there were more chance for random events.
