New Info or Surprise?

I don't really like making topics in this section, but oh well.

Barguast had the idea, so my apologies to him for ripping it off.

 

To be honest, I would really like some new info. I want to know who the main protagonist really is. I would also like to know how big the map really is, wath actual cities there will be and stuff. And maybe some other details, like what new features and such.

But, at the same time I would really like to wait until I play it. To the date, I've never played a GTA game not knowing most of its content prior to starting it for the first time. The only exeption being Vice City, and I remember how good it felt to discover all the new stuff when you are playing. I didn't felt dissapointed at GTAIV like many people say, but I really felt spoiled when I played it for the first time (a couple months after the PC release). I didn't knew the storyline, but I already knew what to expect, having seen tons of videos and stuff.

 

Don't get me wrong, it was so awesome to actually play the game rather than watch videos or images. But it wasn't the same feeling I had with VC, discovering a new world.

I bought a PS3 a few weeks ago. So I now don't have to wait for PC release (although I will get it to make mods for it!), so I'm actually thinking wheather or not I want to see the new info.

 

TL;DR... I want info, but I want to be surprised with the game. I'm glad R* isn't showing stuff yet.

Loads of new info is what I want. Have them pull what Bethesda did with Skyrim, every time I got on a computer and went to a site where I talked about Skyrim there where new preview articles, interviews screens just about every day, and none of it really ruined the game for me.

 

Now don't get me wrong, I like being surprised, and they can keep allot of surprise in it, I just want to hear about game play, and see some screens, little to no info on the story though.

Hmmm, they can release new info whenever they want. It will get here when it gets here. Greatly enough, I can occupy my time in numerous ways, outside of doing like guys on here expecting something everyday, constantly logging on the site with hope. I'll take some basic stuff though. I'll take some basic stuff though. Reveal the protagonist so all of this annoying protag talk can stop.

There's three annoying debates constantly revisited on this site that should be resolved so as to end the insanity:

1. Featured protagonist(s)

2. Featured cities/towns

3. Featured animals (two dogs in the trailer still hasn't convinced everyone)

 

A release date would be nice too, but I don't think we'll get one until the game testers have a go and R* is confident V is bug free.

i'm not saying stop caring, because that would wouldn't do rockstar any favours. just stop crying for information.

i'm just as excited as anyone but we just have to wait until they decide to release new info.

To be honest I think R* is taking the piss as it has now been almost 2 months since the trailer has been shown and still zilt. Nothing. Not even a protagonist's name, simple features or the story.

It's been 72 days since the trailer and the lack of new information is killing me, however... come to think about it I don't need to know much about the game beforehand. I KNOW there are new super-cool features and it's the biggest GTA map ever and the city might be twice the size of IV. Biggest map ever, bigger than San Andreas. And with really good graphics, animation and from the trailer it looks like the game has captured a rally good "feel" to it. So with that in mind, I know R* has made a great game and I have no doubt that it will be the best GTA game ever. But I would like to have some basic information about the game though, will be pretty disappointed otherwise. I'd like to know the characters better, the story, a few new features, see more of the country side and a few cutscenes from some cool missions. That'd be awesome.

Obviously no one will disagree with you on the whole thing about new information, but if you look on the bright side, maybe Rockstar is making us wait a little long so they can chuck big info at us at a later date. I know you'd prefer what game makers do these days which is new info now, then maybe in a couple of weeks, then again a couple of weeks later, but the way we know Rockstar, they're unique to every other game maker, so Rockstar's timing of information release is unique compared to other game makers.

 

I personally want as much as you guys want, but knowing games makers for a long time, and anticipated many many games in my time, I've learnt one thing -

 

"Good things come to those who wait"

 

So let's just wait. I understand we don't have much to talk about and what we do talk about becomes a wishlist, but I got a little hunch Rockstar will throw us off our chair the next time they release some information!

Well they spoiled us with so much to see in the trailer. I woud prefer a steady stream(once a week or so) of little new bits of info rather than everything at once.

I want basic stuff like release date, platforms, PC version details, Name of protagonist, deny/reveal of other cities, some info on radios, 2-3 more trailers and may as release date. That's all.

I know in the long term, it'd be better for me not to know a whole lot about what V will have in it. We just have to keep ourselves occupied for the time being. Play other games, finish other games, read a book, make a snowman, make a model ship, just something other than hanging on to the small chance that R* will hit us with something huge. They will in their own time.

 

Personally, I need to finish some Madden Moments in Madden 12. And a little more of the superstar mode. I need to get my fantasy football star me a Lombardi Trophy.

As someone jokingly suggested the other day when I lurked, if everyone would STOP posting and talking about GTA, they'll release something, however, I wonder if everyone thinks things going on here play an integral part in GTA or Rockstar's marketing??

 

That's more then highly suspect when claimed to be so,

BUT, why not just read what we have, don't make a new topic AT ALL, until Rockstar have new information, barring that, there's enough topics already, just stop pretending there's anything new to present, I've read and heard it all, from this section of GTAF

I think they should do this only if it comes out in Summer. It would be a bit frustrating trying to pass the time when you have little to no details on the game if it were to come out in Fall, or later for that matter.

Nah, it would still get frustrating. As you said, we need to learn the protagonist and release date, and I will be happy.

With Max Payne 3, Rockstar seems to be going down the surprise route. While there have been a lot of screenshots and videos, most of them appear to take place in the same level as each other, just from different angles. Plus, we're only 7-10 weeks away from launch, yet they haven't shown us any multiplayer footage nor cover art.

I chose i would like more. I don't NEED more info, we'll all get a chance to play it eventually.

All I want is the things like the release date, confirmation on things like the cities or protagonist (i normally wouldn't care too much about that but the arguing is annoying), and a few trailers and screenshot sets till the release.
