radioman
You will be lucky if the game even runs at all, as your Processor is not even supported by the game AND your Video card is weak for gaming, as it is a Office/Student card and not for gaming...No offence, but if you had read the Pinned "Can I Run it..." thread AND the box the game comes in, you would have figured out your PC does not meet minimum. To back up that, for example, I have a desktop with a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core, and cannot even run the game even though the Athlon Dual Core is the Minimum requirements, so what makes you think a Single-core processor will run this game when a Dual core will not? Just curious. ... Just a friendly heads up. Also, the Pentium 4 is a Single-core processor and IV needs at least a Dual Core(Core2Duo or better) and at least a ATI 3870/Nvidia 7900 or better to run at a decent fps...Just another friendly heads up... Th3MaN1
First of all,get a dual core.Sadly,I can't recommend one.Just wait until someone like Exxon, yojo or OverTheBelow will find this topic. They are experts at this.
Exxon
Just wait until someone like Exxon, yojo or OverTheBelow will find this topic. They are experts at this. I'm getting recognized! Anyway, you'll be better off with a whole new computer. If you want a new processor, you'll need a new motherboard (which can also mean a new case), which also means new RAM and probably a new power supply. So, it's better to ask: any budget? As for the videocard, I should get something like atleast a GeForce GTX 460 or GTX 560 Ti, but that'll require a new power supply.

unc13bud
can your motherboard accept any type of dual core? if so, get a used one and upgrade your video to a discrete card like used 8600gt/8800gt
Grady Featherstone
Hey, I recommend, from what you have said, would be just to get a new computer! If you are wonderin performance wise, these are my system specs: Intel Core i3 @ 3.1 GHZ (DUAL CORE) 8GB DDR3 RAM NO GRAPHICS CARD 1600 x 900 Widescreen monitor I can play the game on low settings (without a graphics card) and get around 30 FPS with Fraps running I don't think, if you are on a budget, you need anything more then the intel core i3 I have (Intel Core i3 2100) or an intel core i5.... As for a graphics card, get somethig about 1 GB..... You will usually be able to get the highest settings with some good 1 GB graphics cards! Exxon
@Grady Featherstone Are you saying you're playing IV on low (not lowest) settings on integrated Intel graphics?
radioman
@Grady Featherstone Are you saying you're playing IV on low (not lowest) settings on integrated Intel graphics? Exxon, where did you get the Intel graphics card from? Grady said above that he has NO video card, which leads to the question he is obviously lieing, as you cannot run the game without a video card.... As worded here by grady: I can play the game on low settings (without a graphics card) and get around 30 FPS with Fraps running NO GRAPHICS CARD
Exxon
Lalalaa If he doesn't have a discrete graphics card, it means he's using the integrated graphics chip which is integrated in the CPU
Slamman
Sadly, 9400GT nVidia is a card I bought for my first PCIe proper, turns out like the 9250 boards, meant for DirectX10 in terms of business apps, using 3D in limited capacity, it's just not a good enough card for hard core gaming, so like the X300 and X1900 or other cards starting out the PCIe graphics revolution, they look nice, but fail to deliver. You want to get a 9600 or higher, avoid the 9500 cards as well. SELL! My own 9400 is used on my 939 Athlon to run BD output to an HD TV, and it works well in that regard, it could be used to encode and decode video well, not gaming though Integrated does not mean a GPU in the CPU unless it's later tech then the 9400 series, which is OLD if I have one! hahaha BTW, you ANTI Single Core Zealots, better get your facts straight, for one, a 2 CORE CPU includes some AMD 64s from 2005 onward, as well, Pentium D as I have, and HT tech single cores, since that allows dual processing on one core CPUs, and GTA IV will run, just don't expect to be pleased as punch, just will be able to get it tweaking along Edited January 30, 2012 by Slamman
unc13bud
i have read that GTA IV doesn't do hyperthreading...
Grady Featherstone
@Grady Featherstone Are you saying you're playing IV on low (not lowest) settings on integrated Intel graphics? I am running GTA IV on the lowest settings possible, with integrated intel HD graphics in an Intel Core i3 2100!!! Although, to my surprise, I can put textures on high, and still get 20 - 30 FPS with Fraps!!!!!!!!!!!

Although it's not the best experience, it is possible.... By the way, I am thinking of getting a nVidia GeForce GTX 560!
