R* are slipping. They could have easily beat CoD if they actually had released a GTA game this decade, but as it stands there has not been a new GTA this decade. Last time I checked EFLC was an expansion pack. Also you twisted your words to make it sound like MW3 sold 400 million copies (lol) on its first day when in actual fact it made over $400 million and sold 6.5 million copies. As a few people have said though the fact EFLC was originally launched on 360 brought numbers down, but I'm sure if sales from the PS3 and PC were combined it wouldn't come close to MW3, but that's alright since TLAD and TBOGT weren't full games designed to overtake COD in sales. Another thing to consider is TLAD was released in early 2009 as DLC and so was EFLC when it came out. It's impossible to know the true figure when many people downloaded the games aswell as buying the retail copies. Will GTA V be able to beat COD in sales? Who knows. I thought people loved the GTA series for more than just being #1 in the sales race. In saying that I bet no sandbox game coming out around the time of GTA V will be able to top its sales. If it wasn't for their shares dropping the trailer wouldn't of came out yet at all. This also explains why the trailer is a cutscene/ shown like a movie instead of a game They didnt have any game play because it hasnt been created yet. I disagree. The trailer was almost entirely gameplay, shown from cinematic camera angles. The robbery is the only scene in the entire trailer that looks like a blocked-out motion capture performance. Besides that, they're showing off the variety of things peds are programmed to do and how the AI makes them react to each other. The car chases are played, not scripted. Rockstar has gameplay capture people who do nothing but record gameplay and when something cool happens they can replay the moment and change the camera angle, time of day and weather to whatever looks coolest. There was an article that mentioned it took a lot of playing to get the awesome J-turn shot in GTA IV Trailer 4. To further show that all GTA trailers are made in game, in GTA3 you can fly the dodo (if you're good enough) to a part of map not normally accessible where the trailers where made. Basically copies of parts of the map for in game trailer making. Kind of sketchy but they left it in as there was no real way to fly there. There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism, or just flat out disliking the game, but i find complaining before the game is even released, to be rediculous. The logic of GTA Forums is that every scene from gta trailers is 100% cut scene. But I think R* already said, a long time ago, that the trailers they make are 90% in-game, and 10% pre-scripted trailers. Everything is 100% rendered using the in-game engine though, so it doesn't matter what way they say it, GTA trailers are always, and will always be, 100% in-game. Oh and there's one more scene in the trailer that I think is a cut scene. The part where the guy get's thrown out of the club/bar. Totally looks like the main character and a contact are going to a meeting in the club, which will end in a violent shoot out. There are alot of younger people who can't appreciate what Max Payne was and are so "hip" that they feel nothing but V is worth paying attention to, even if it is created by R*. Then you have the die hard MP fans who don't like the new setting in MP3 because it isn't like the first two, even though if they watch the trailer Max is in snowy NY at night in the beggining. The fact that you can't see how Rockstar could walk and chew at the same time only confirms that you ARE Zee, probably on a seperate account. Algonquin Assassin Posted January 7, 2012 Share Posted January 7, 2012 (edited) To put things into perspective if GTA V followed the same procedure as the past GTAs by this time (2 months from announcement) all we would be stuck with is a basis description and maybe a screenshot or two. GTA IV was announced in 2006, but we didn't get a trailer until March 2007. R* could've waited another 3-4 months before releasing the first trailer, but they decided to break the mold and gave us a trailer 1 week after the announcement which IMO was far more revealing than any previous first GTA trailer. 2 months isn't a long time. Infact it only feels like a few days ago the trailer was released. When you sit on here day after day frustrated about no information you'll only drive yourself nuts. MP3 is being pushed hard, because it's coming out in March which isn't that far away. R* are not the cruel, uncaring assholes some make them out to be. In what sense have they dogged you? He is right that if you sit here day in and day out hoping for new info you will go crazy and feel "dogged". And I really don't think the mods here get paid to do this, and if they do then they rightly deserve it. Either way whether you beleive it or not MP3 has its own fan base. Look at a game like RDR that was nearly forgotten when it was Revolver and as Redemption the series has become heralded as somewhat iconic. Its not the fact that they havnt released information, but more of how they think of us. I just feel unappreciated as a fan. Like, cant they just show us that they care? Probably just me, though... Because they aren't revealing new information everyday about the game? The game looks significantly better and sees to be packing a huge punch. Seems to already be in line to be a great game and yes it is a cash cow for them so what? So Infinity Ward is allowed to make millions off of COD but GTA isn't allowed the same dollar value? Rockstar is a business. You expect them to ignore their other games in order to appease a couple of "fans" who NEVER seem satisfied regardless of what they do? Instead of being pumped up that GTAV was finally announced, including a trailer right after, you guys jump right on them like spoiled brats demanding that they succumb to immature and impatient rantings.
