They said that it is still gimickey for games and I dont think they should bother adding because they wont be fully focused on it untill they feel it will improove the gameplay. You are wrong there, the 4th Dimension is time and I seriously doubt you could play a game through time travel. Computer generated 3d means that characters and environments are 3d models displayed on a 2d screen. Have you ever been to an imax? Objects are literally popping out of the screen. You obviously haven't seen it because if you have, you wouldn't confuse it with CG 3d. There's also digital 3d which makes objects pop into the screen rather than out of it. CommonSeb Posted January 5, 2012 Share Posted January 5, 2012 heres why it wont be in 3d: A 3d video uses twice the frames to generate the second picture to make the 3d effect. Therefore a game would have to first run 60fps in normal mode to get 30 fps in 3d. I would rather use that power to get a good looking "normal" game than holding back on just about anything to get the 3d effect. 30fps is good on gta IV PC version because of the weak port. But I don't think that consoles can handle GTA games in 3D. Unless GTA V is coming for PS4 and X720. In 3D mode GPU has to render twice as many frames per second as in 2D mode. Yes, the consoles arent that different in the processing power, the only thing that 360 is less than PS3 on is the disk space because 360 uses DVD instead of Blu Ray. It simply doesnt work for me, with the sense of the glasses. but i've got batman AC - which is 3d compatable, and having the option doesn't bother me whatsoever. Why would i care? So yeah - gta in 3d would be cool - gimmicky, but a lot of poeple would get a lot of enjoyment out of it. If 3d worked for me, i'd go for it, and no i won't explain why it don't work. mdniterder Posted January 5, 2012 Share Posted January 5, 2012 (edited) I have played Grand Turismo in 3D and was a bit disappointed, It didn't make me feel like I had any better depth perception. Now I don't know if games on the PS3 or 360 can be produced in Screen popping 3D like movies. In fact I don't know if the consumer TV's with 3D can produce Screen Popping 3D like the theater. As for a gimmick who knows. I don't think it will be a fad like the 80s or the 50's as it is more realistic than the old red/cyan glasses. Btw I made a post about this a few months back, Why, Cause i would like it if it adds to the depth of field. As much as I support it, unfortunately putting something into the game would mean something else (and possibly better) might be left out to make room/time for this option.
