grope_4_that_date
The 'Real' Oldies Introduction: What are your thoughts on a "oldies" themed radio station, based off of late 1950s, mid 1960s music? You know what I mean, the "oldies" before the oldies - DooWopp, Motown, Rock&Roll, Ballads, etc. Post your suggestions! Suggestions: • Try to keep that Jukebox feel. • Pick songs between 1956-1969. Reasoning: Rockstar has never created this style radio station before, which would be perfect for the California vibe. I think (at least going by the trailer) GTA5 will have a Goodfellas feel. It will be a classic old-school crime thriller based around counterfeit plates. The protagonist will be old, thus he'll need something to listen to. A 60s radio station would be the perfect fit. I've come up with some suggestions, but I'd like to hear yours. I really feel this type of station will be in GTA5. No game that I could find covered this type of music. Examples: A Whiter Shade Of Pale - Procol Harum (1967) Sleepwalk - Santo & Johnny (1959) He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother - The Hollies (1969) Good Vibrations - Beach Boys (1966) Frankie Valli - Rag Doll (1964) Groovin - The Young Rascals (1967) Edited January 12, 2012 by grope_4_that_date
sonnyBlack
These songs are wayyy before my time but I grew up listening to this because of my parents. I heard every last one of these songs so many times, but most of them I never knew who sang them or what their titles were, so I won't be much help in posting any recommendations. But damn was this a nostalgia trip. As a kid, I hated this stuff, but after growing up I learned to appreciate these old tunes. I think this would be a great station for GTAV, it'd be something good to chill to when cruising around. I like it.
Jeeebuuus
Yes, if I could turn to a station while driving in "LA" and here "Everybodys gone suuurfin, surfin u.s.aaa." That would groovin.
aaronimpact
I would love to hear Chuck Berry's "No Particular Place To Go" while driving a 1950's/60's type car in GTA.

jojuinc
Seems like an great idea for a radio station. Also, I think that they're called JUKEboxes, not JUTEboxes.

Tipper
On the one hand, I'd love to have that kind of music in V. On the other hand, since they never use the same songs used in previous games, I'm still hoping for a future GTA set in the 60s, where these songs would belong. Algonquin Assassin
I've been dreaming of a 50s/60s radio station for a long time. Even though it was well before my time the music just has something I like about it. I love Chuck Berry's "Johnny B Goode". Mostly because of Back To The Future. Mr Podge
I also think it would be great to have a 50's and 60's station! It would make a change from the usual genres that we get in every GTA. IMHO the more variety that the in game radio station's have, the better!

Nah Tso Gud
Songs from Back to the Future and "The Sandlot" can't think of any off hand except Mr. Sandman Hahahah. Come Go With Me. Is one that'd fit not sure if its their original but I know the Beach Boys sang it.

catney11
Other then talk radio this would be the only station I'd listen to in GTA V by far the best music to create a vibe around a game. Along with the early 90's rap in the SA. But that's been done.

EverLost123
I personally loved Mafia 2 alot because of the musics , many of them in my iTunes , but personally i think that it must be a script that in not-mission/not-wanted situations the musics are calmer then on situations that you're using a car , being more specific: Little Richard would be great
JoanCrawford
Oh goodness! Mr. Sandman and Come to me softly are my favorite 50s songs. I would love that.
CrzChris4
Donna by Richie Valens, Rockin' Robin by Bobby Day, Octopus' Garden by The Beatles, Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry, etc. etc. I definitely wouldn't mind having a type of station like this in Grand Theft Auto V.
LotusRIP
Donna by Richie Valens, Rockin' Robin by Bobby Day, Octopus' Garden by The Beatles, Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry, etc. etc. I definitely wouldn't mind having a type of station like this in Grand Theft Auto V. I'm a Beatles maniac but I don't know if Octopus's Garden would be a great Jukebox track, maybe their early days stuff more suitable (I Want To Hold Your Hand, Hard Day's Night etc). Definitely some Elvis would go down well, maybe Chuck Berry "You Can't Catch Me". I think it's more likely though that there will be a hippie rock/psychedelic radio station considering the track they used in the trailer which could feature in the same radio station. If that's the case, a 50's station might be too close in style? I wouldn't complain though!
bluesboyjr
GTA needs something like this. The closest I can think of is Master Sounds, which had some amazing songs like Gloria Jones' "Tainted Love", though that might me a little too modern-sounding for your station, Newman. Anyhoo, here's a few tracks for y'all. The first track is amazing... Martha Reeves and The Vandellas - "(Love Is Like A) Heat Wave" - 1963 Benny Spellman - "Fortune Teller" - 1962 Fats Domino - "I'm Walking" - 1957 Rufus Thomas - "Walking The Dog" - 1963

llpalm08
I think it would be a good idea for Los Santos as long as they also have a 1950/60 themed diner aswell with the station playing over the tannoy. I can imadgine listening to Hey Jude while rolling through the countryside slowley.
