Am I the only one who's still 100% rooting for Walter at this point? Yeah, I know he's an egotistical sociopath, but I can't help but root for him still. But yeah, am I the only one? It seems like everyone hates him now, lol.

Nah bro, i'm with you. I've said it before, it will be hard to get me to stop rooting for him.

Even with all his unforgivable actions, i still want this guy to come out on top. That is, speaking of right now. I can't predict what will happen in the end, i guess i'll make an evaluation then and see. But his story really speaks to me.

I'm still rooting for him too, but I'm also invested in other characters... like Jesse for example. If something happens to him because of Walt, then that's it. F*ck Walt! Honestly, when he killed Mike, that just about did it for me. I only forgave him because he obviously killed Mike through blind rage, & he showed remorse after he did it. But even then it's getting very hard to root for this guy. Bryan Cranston said there will be no redemption for Walt in season 5B... so things are going to get ugly. The whole point of the show is Walt's transition from good to bad, & I strongly believe he will be COMPLETELY bad in the last 8 episodes.

 

I personally think the reason most people are still rooting for him is because he is the protagonist of the show. Everything centers around him. But, if Walt was to completely turn into the antagonist in season 5B, will most of you guys still root for him? Just curious.

For me it's a bit different. I kind of admire his choice, the ultimate one i mean, just going after the big money through criminal ways. Despite the guy he has been his entire life. Even more so because it's not out of glutonous reasons, but to provide after his death. This sounds like something i'd really feel obligated to do myself, given the same situation. He had a stroke of brilliance you could say, using his broad amount of knowledge about chemistry to produce drugs. Sounds like the way to go for a guy like him.

 

Now, everything that has happened along the way... he did some pretty dark stuff, but every time he made a choice, i thought 'What would i do?' And seriously thinking about it. I really can't say i approve of everything (especially killing Mike, and after that, poisoning Brock) but everything he did provided what was needed; it got the job done. Not counting Mike's death of course. But i admire the way he sought for solutions and managed to keep things working the way he wanted them to...

^ Walt is definitely a complicated character, that's for sure. I can definitely understand where he's coming from. He's a guy who has held back on alot of things in life... finally he just says "f*ck it" and he takes the world by the balls. Staring death in the face will change anybody, I don't care who you are. Cancer is what woke up the monster inside Walt (Heisenberg). He had to summon this alter ego so he could provide his family with a comfortable nest egg, and that is something I can root for. Doing bad things for good reasons. Over the course of the show, Heisenberg has evolved into something much more sinister & out of control. While I can understand his rush of being the alpha dog for a change, some of his actions are not justifiable. Hell, not even Tony Montana would poison an innocent kid! There has to be a point where we all jump off the band wagon & really despise Walt, in my opinion. That is, after all, the whole experiment with this show. The process of a good guy becoming a bad guy... showing us all just how evil even the nicest man can become given the right set of circumstances.

 

By the time this show ends, I honestly believe a good percentage of people will hate Walt. That is the point of the show, right?. Watching the protagonist finally turn into the antagonist.

Walt started out as my favorite character. I only started liking Jesse after the episode where we saw his home life. Walt is a complex character. At first he had good reasons for manufacturing crystal meth, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. He only wanted to manufacturer the meth, he had no idea how deep he would get involved. But then he killed Gus and his ego took a turn for the worst. He embraced his life style. Walt has manipulated his family and his only friend. And that's what makes me hate him. Sure I may cheer for him a little, but I am hoping for Jesse or Hank to take him down. Hank is probably the character I care about the most right now. He's dedicated to his job of the near impossible task of trying to wipe drug empires and cartels off the streets.

I think in order for me to give up on rooting for Walt, would have to be if he not only does something very bad but also very cowardly. Sure he probably will do something evil to make people hate him, but there must be no reason to forgive him either. Did they ever show on the show what did Walt do with his explosive meth after the meeting with Tuco? It would be great to see that stuff again in action since it was used in the scene which introduced Heisenberg for the first time

I would consider what he did with Jane, Mike, and Brock evil and cowardly. Maybe less so with Mike and it was more out of a fit of rage.

Well, if i'm honest, that would be really weak. I would be surprised if she's going to play a major role in the final 8. She hasn't really contributed to anything, she's truly a supporting actress. So i hope it stays that way.
