I enjoy the good action episodes, trust me. But the suttleness of Breaking Bad is what I enjoy most... and Fly delivers just that! icon14.gif

I think the point of these kinds of episodes is, it may seem like a filler, but the episode really does build the character development of Walt and Jesse. It creates these moments so you wonder how their future is going to play out. You can also look back at it so when things blow up, you think.. "Damn.. You should of done that when you had the chance".

I think it keeps things kind of realistic as well. Example, we have many of the moments in our lives where the time just fills and we have conversations, and we can choose to ask people certain things and get to know them better.

The point is, it helps us get to know the characters better. I was surprised this episode was so simple, yet so effective and awesome.

True! Many people (mostly people with short attention spans) would consider half of the Breaking Bad episodes "filler". But that's the beauty of Breaking Bad. The tension is slowly building up with each episode and when we finally get some action it's so beautifully shot and the tension is unbearable. The shootout in One Minute and the final scenes in both Half Measures/Full Measures made me pee my pants, that's how tense they were. I don't think I would like Breaking Bad very much if there's action scenes in every episode. That would be very boring in the long run. I prefer subtleness and character development. That's the key to a great show!

Been rewatching Season 5A recently; holy f*ck, it's so good. Way better the second time around, for some reason. Everything fit together so perfectly... I just now rewatched episode 7 & 8, the way Hank found out was perfect IMO. Couldn't have been better.

That's exactly why it's a great show. It's quality. Not trying to excite you with endless action, but build up and up 'till the point you are really into it and you are literally at the edge of your seat. I've found myself screaming at the screen more than once man lmfao.

I guess we have this guy to thank for it all huh:

I'll nominate you for something. Remember... if you get nominated just once you get to move on to the voting polls (which starts February 2nd). The vote is what really matters. icon14.gif

btw, anyone else wondering about Walt's hair in season 5B? We know he grows it back according to the Denny's flash forward. But how is that going to work? Are they going to use a wig since Walt is bald? My guess is, since Walt is "out", he will be slowly growing his hair back each episode... trying to get rid of the Heisenberg persona.

Growth. Decay. Transformation.

Speaking of the fly episode, I thought this was pretty funny.

I don't know how they are going to deal with Walt's hair. I think that scene with Denny's was obvious done before they shaved his head again.

They probably will shoot the scenes when he has hair first, then any scenes without after. Often filming is done out of order, but it is edited later. I figured you already know that though smile.gif.

I really don't know, maybe a wig could work, but we will have to wait and see.

GTA-King, I think you deserve a good award smile.gif. I will nominate and vote for you.

The thing that bugs me about his hair, is the fact it has already grown quite a bit in the Denny's scene.

Surely it must take 4-6 months at least to go from bald to this:

So, what, the final 8 take place in a 6 month timespan? Maybe more?

Also, searching for that pic ^ i came across this one:

Hmmm, well we know the Denny's scene takes place on Walt's 52nd birthday... so let's see where we are at currently...

It's been about 3 months after Walt's 51st birthday (the "Crystal Blue Persuasion" montage lasted about 3 months according to Marie). So we have about 9 months before the Denny's scene. So that gives us a rough estimate. My guess is we will have at least 1 more time lapse montage before the big finale... probably during when Walt is in hiding.

The thing about his hair... is it possible to grow hair while having cancer? In the midseason finale we saw Walter at chemo, and he glanced at that container he smashed the crap out of in season 2. Does that indicate that the cancer has returned or the opposite? And IF the cancer is back, how can he have hair?

Chemotherapy causes the hair loss, not cancer itself. Meaning that Walt probably stopped getting treated for his cancer, thus growing his hair back

Oh yeah, that's actually right. Good thinking.

And about his hair, i don't think he's getting another round of chemo. But then what are the pills for? Maybe they're painkillers, or maybe the cancer hasn't even returned at all...

Yeah he smashed that when he learned he was in remission... so him NOT getting mad could be a sign the cancer HAS returned. Perhaps the reason he wants out of the business is to repair his relationship with his family. He also gave Jesse his money... so maybe Walt is trying to redeem himself after hearing the cancer has returned.

But yeah, he's obviously not doing treatment in the Denny's scene if he does have cancer. My guess is that the pills Walt is taking is speed, because remember what Walt told the waitress? He got from NH to NM in only 3 days. The only thing he stopped for is gas. You'd have to be on some kind of drug to accomplish that.

^ Yeah, we talked about that before. Very plausible if you ask me.

Because that cough he had and the pills he took might just be in that 5x01 opening just to fuel speculation, you know wink.gif

Yeah, that was my first though as well. But I don't see anyone else beating him up. Could be anyone really, BB is full of surprises.

And that Betsy Brandt tweet, wooohooo! 5 more episodes to shoot. They started filming around Dec 6 - 7 so it took them a month and a half to finish the first three episodes. And they probably didn't film during the holidays so I'd say it took them around 4 weeks of filming. That means the final episode should be done in about 10 weeks from now, the beginning of April. 3 months of post production after finishing the final episode? Sounds a bit long. Post production of season 5A didn't take that long.

^ Sounds alot like season 5A to me. They finished filming that around late March, then started post production, then marketing started in late May early June. So I think they are on schedule in my opinion.

Wait, what? They finished shooting season 5A in March? I thought they started filming in March and finished a month before the premiere, lol lol.giflol.gif

Now that I think of it, it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to start shooting season 5A over half a year since the season 4 finale. So yeah, you're probably right, they finished in March biggrin.gif

4 months of filming doesn't seem right though. Actually it would be 3 months of filming, then post production, then marketing. Just doesn't fit imo, especially the train heist episode. Could be wrong though.

Dudes, I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE. Things are happening. Before we know it we'll be in Los Santos, f*cking hyped about that, and not long after that we'll be back in ABQ for some epic times. And don't forget, The Walking Dead starts Feb. 10 as well smile.gif I'm not even bitching about waiting anymore, January is almost over, time flies man!

The only thing i can see pulling me away from GTA V will be Breaking Bad. And the random social obligations lol.

This is my favorite promo from season 5A.

Because I say so. cool.gif

My prediction on the finale: Walt knows his cancer has returned for a long time now. He's even been lying to his family (and us) when the question comes up about his status. Since the "That's how I live my life" speech in season 4, (where he first finds out the cancer has returned) he's been planning his own downfall. Why you ask? Because in the end, Walt cares only about himself, and the legend he leaves behind.

^ Good prediction. I can even see Walter surviving everything in the end. It could be like a Godfather 2 ending. He survives, but at what cost? The people he loved are gone, he has nothing to live for anymore and his sins were so terrible that he can't do anything to find happiness in his life... ever.

Honestly, that's not quite a bad ending in my opinion. The final scene could show us Walter at the car wash, standing behind the cash register just like we saw him in the first episode. After all the years and all the events, he finds himself at the same place where he first started. What did he gain? Nothing. His wife and kids are dead, (possibly by Declan's crew) and he killed his own brother in law. After taking care of the customer at the car wash, we see Walt just staring into nothingness, no facial expressions on his face, only grief. He just stares into nothingness without moving and the camera slowly moves away from him and the screen goes black. Just like the Crawl Space ending.

But nevertheless, I'm sure the ending will satisfy me even if it won't be what I expected.
