I don't know if this was posted before but in the last episode when Hank asked "Flynn" if he wanted to see Heat with him, was that a foreshadowing of some kind? So far we've seen a Scarface reference where Walt said "Everyone dies in this movie" and now we get Heat. And if you've seen Heat you know how it ends. Does this mean that Hank will... it can't be as easy as that can it? Surely Gilligan is just messing with us.

Could be possible that they were foreshadowing a showdown like at the end of Heat, but a little differently. Personally though, I think by mentioning Heat they were foreshadowing the ending to Dead Freight. Remember that scene in Heat when Waingro killed that security guard for no reason? Well, Todd killed that kid for basically no reason. So I think that's why they injected that movie in there.

Alright, so I'm a little baked at the moment, and decided we should play a game for a bit while we wait for the new episode. The game is called "What would you get Walt for his birthday?" It's simple, you say what you get him and why. On Sunday afternoon, before the episode airs, I will decide who is the winner, and I will PERSONALLY make them a custom Breaking Bad signature! In the signature I will take your username and use element boxes for some of the letters, just like the Breaking Bad title! So, impress me!

Great idea! Walt really, really needs someone to talk to. Nothing better than a caring stranger! I myself would start crying if Walt did in front of me... but I wouldn't know if he was trying to manipulate me though...

Plus a .45 is more badass than a lame .38. The fake passport is for when sh!t hits the fan and he needs to escape the country.

Seriously, a (really) great gift would be:

i'd contact the Nobel Prize Committee, and get them to reproduce the exact plaque Walter received earlier in his life... have it gold-plated and maybe a little enhanced OR the exact opposite, like a 24 karat gold miniature pocket-size one for him to carry around

 

Why? To make an effort to make Walt see that his 'past life' really was anything from mediocre... or just to make him even more proud of himself. I wouldn't be trying to manipulate him into quitting or anything, just remind him of his (many) great achievement(s) and that, well, the man's a straight up mastermind

 

** Extra thought: would be even cooler to have "99%" carved in it, like obscurely on the back... to remind him just how superior his product, and therefore his chemistry knowledge really is

also a great symbolic contrast there... his greatest positive and 'negative' achievements in one piece

Aaron Paul promised us a blood bath so he must be talking about season 5A because season 5B has not yet been written. Expect a few more deaths in the coming three episodes

Best tribute video so far! Next episode is not far away now! I hope I can keep my ass out of this thread before I see the episode so I don't get spoiled like last time with that kid getting shot. I learned my lesson the hard way. But when you're working for 10 hours and you count down the minutes until you can go home and watch Breaking Bad, it's hard to avoid reading about the recent episode because my job is boring as hell.

If Walt does get a redemption arc, how do you think the writers will handle it? Will Walt hit moral rock-bottom in episode 8, and struggle upwards for the remaining 8? Will he continue to plummet until the series finale? Or will the series end with him beginning his moral recalibration?

Does anyone else find it hella lame that last week they showed a kid getting shot point blank in the chest and this week they blurred out the word f*ck on a piece of paper? f*cking FCC, it's no fault of the show's but that was tremendously lame and inconsistent

Was an alright episode, not my favorite one this season. This was the episode that sets us up for the next 2 though, that's for sure.

 

-Did anyone catch what "connections" Todd has in prison? Because I didn't...

-That dinner scene was hard to watch, but yet I couldn't look away. So funny!

-Pretty clever what Walt did to get free...

-Who was those guys that met Jesse and Mike in the desert? Competition?

-Lastly, I wonder what Walt means by "everybody wins"

 

But yeah, not my favorite episode. Two more left this year, then the remaining 8 next summer. It's bitter sweet at this point. Looking forward to the net 2 episodes... they should be nothing short of epic!

Walt's life is really falling apart and he just doesn't seem to care. I really do hope Grey Matter plays a role sometime again, it was interesting to hear Walt talk about it this episode, as it showed his motivation.

 

Also has anyone seen the movie The Town? When Mike left the note for the DEA, it really reminded me of a similar scene where Ben Affleck's charcter left a similar message for the FBI.

I never knew how much this meth business really meant to Walt until tonight though, that kind of threw me off when he said it was the only thing he has. I'm pretty sure he's going to end up dying by the sword because he's damn sure living by it at this point. And I told you guys Todd was an impulsive retard, he still sounded very Forrest Gump-ish to me when he was stating his case to the gang, he sounded like a big kid in trouble after recess or something.
