I still think he'll use the ricin on Marie. Skyler could tell her something incriminating about Walt, and he will find out about it, so he'll slip some ricin into her salad or something. He knows Marie has a big mouth and he can't risk her telling Hank.

Whatever happens, if Walt does kill a member of his own family, that is the point I stop rooting for him... he's on thin ice with me right now as is.

Here's the preview for "Buyout."

Boy was I dumb to visit this thread before having seen the episode yet? I basically f*cked myself over by reading about that kid in the end. I guess that's the price I have to pay if I'm bored at work and decide to read this thread before having seen the episode. But it's alright, it's not like I had the season finale spoiled for me. It would have been way worse if I was one of those victims who saw that leaked image of Gus' blown off face.

But man, this was a great episode. Definitely the best episode of season 5 so far. I wonder what the next 3 episodes will have in store for us.

I really didn't like the way they filmed this episode for some reason.

Example?

Oh and by the way. You gotta love the dialogue between Walt and Skyler.

- Out burying bodies?

- Robbing a train.

Gotta love the tone of Walt's voice there. It's like a "stop-acting-all-clever-biatch" attitude.

I just liked how casual his tone was. Y'know, he was saying it like it was no big deal.

And I love how "robbing a train" is such a ridiculous sounding thing. It's like something out of a Western.

Any idea who is talking to Walt at the end of the promo?

I'm pretty sure it was Jesse, judging by this picture. Also, Jesse says in that promo "Are we in the meth business... or the money business?" And Walt responds "I'm in the empire business."

^ Well, Jesse, of course.

But why would Jesse ask him "Are we in the money business?" What, are they gonna print money now? lol

BTW... holy sh*t that episode was killer. Not only did they pull off a great great great f*cking heist, we got ourselves one big f*cking cliffhanger. Damn, i couldn't believe what happened.

And for the record... i don't think y'all should read into it too much. What i mean is, this was Todd's first reaction. Yeah it is messed up, but he took the initiative to prove himself. It was a big f*cking dillema and he just jumped the gun, so to speak.

Also, there was a reason that kid was on a motorcycle... from the writers POV i mean. Because if he was on a bike or just walking by, the situation wouldn't be as much threatening. The fact he could speed off at any moment was the real reason he decided to shoot him. Otherwise they could've easily taken the kid and debate on what to do.

At the end of the day... we should all be glad Todd was the one that shot him, not Walt (or Jesse)...

If you pause the episode and look at Walt's face as the gun is discharged, you can see he looks a little shocked.

^ Interesting... so we can see he still has a bit of his humanity left if he is shocked by a child's death. I imagine he don't care much though.

Yeah, I think Walt still has some human decency in him, but obviously not as much as Jesse. I think Jesse is going to take this real hard, because just watching him with Brock during his relationship with Andrea, you can tell he has a soft spot for kids. Hell, you could even see that during the episode where he's at the house with the two crackheads trying to rob the ATM when he's pissed at them for essentially neglecting their child.

I personally think if anything, this is going to set Jesse off. He is going to hate Todd, and want Mike to take care of him..But it might also make Jesse want to get out of the drug business altogether.

Seems like a perfect moment to create even more drama with him and Walt.. My respect for Jesse is pretty good! I can almost see him living a good life, if the directors do not kill him off..

Because Im used to shows taking a route where every good character I love either dies or turns out to be a crazy psychopath.. Im prepared for anything to happen.

Just watched it again. The last 10 minutes is so damn intense. I love the music too... so heart wrenching. I noticed that Walt has a blank look on his face when Todd pulled out his gun, but he looked a bit shocked when Todd pulled the trigger. Jesse however, was shocked the moment Todd reached for his gun. I think we know how Jesse is going to feel about this, but I'm wondering how Walt will feel.

Just found this interesting little snippet on AMC's website:

The tarantula could be taken as a bit of a metaphor, as well. At the beginning of the show, the tarantula was just wandering around in the desert doing his thing, but he was picked up by the boy, who treated him kindly at first by letting him walk around on his hand, but then the boy closed the lid of the jar, imprisoning the tarantula and trapping him in a life he did not ask for. During the boy's bike ride, the tarantula lived in the jar, having to go wherever the boy went. Once the boy's life came to a violent end, one might think that the tarantula would rejoice, because his captor was dead. However, they cut to a shot of the jar on the ground, and there was the tarantula, just as "trapped" as before.

Contrast that with Walt and Jessie. They started out as a couple of independents, cooking their product in the desert and doing their own thing. Then, they were treated kindly by Gustavo, who extended his hand and let them walk up his arm, at which point he imprisoned them in a life of service to him. Now that Gustavo is dead, Walt and Jessie (and Mike) think they are free from their chains, but the reality is that they are still trapped and cannot get out of their prison.

Ok, I'm tired today so all I'm gonna say it's: AWESOME EPISODE biggrin.gif

They shot a kid, for f*cks sake!! Amazing, didn't see that one coming.

@ GTA_King: That tidbit of AMC is pretty interesting! It does say a lot biggrin.gif

Was just listening to the podcast for episode 5 and Vince Gilligan said that portion of the railroad is used for alot of movies... one of them being from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid when they robbed the train. Pretty cool!

EDIT: In the podcast, Vince also gives a hint at the next episode by saying "electricity" will play a big role. I wonder what that means... monocle.gif

Maybe your electrical fire and ricin theory is true!

Also, I saw one of those comics before. It went:

"F*ck off Marie, I ain't leaving the hospital yet."

"What if I can get you rock hard?"

"Jesus Christ Marie, it's a mineral."

Many laughs were had.

Is it wrong that I laughed at that? suicidal.gif

No, it's good if you laughed in my opinion. It lightens the mood a bit for such a dark show. But you must remember that Todd is a lowlife scumbag for killing a kid. The situation could have been handled alot differently... they could have told the kid they were working for the railroad or something. And the kid obviously didn't know they were criminals... otherwise he wouldn't have waved. So sad, but hopefully the pic helps you see something funny in it.

Todd just got the wrong impression about Walt and Jesse. They presented themselves as ruthless and uncaring when really they're not at all.

We go back to New Mexico this November to start shooting the final season (8 episodes). We'll finish some time in March and it airs in July

Least now we know how long we have to wait. 10 months! It will be well worth it though, I'm 100% sure. icon14.gif

Exactly. If the kid thought they were doing something wrong, he would have just sped away you'd think. Instead he just gives them a friendly wave. They could have told the boy they were working for the railroad and answered some questions he might have had. Nope... instead Todd shoots him. I wonder if Todd is really trying to impress Walt and Jesse... or he is actually a sick psychopath. I mean, sure he is... but I wonder if he was always like that.

I wonder how Walt will feel about this. Will he be appalled at what Todd did... or will he respect his initiative? monocle.gif

I agree, what was he going to do? Tell his parents? He had no idea of what they were doing. As far as he knew, they were just railroad workers. There was no indication that they were stealing anything.

Now that I think about it, it may depend on how long he was sitting there. The generator is going the whole time, so you really can't hear him pulling up on the dirt bike. Still though, if the kid suspected any wrong-doings, he would have high-tailed it out of there.

Maybe Mike told Todd before hand to take care of any potential witnesses that Jesse and Walt might hesitate to deal with, Mike was pretty solid during the planning of the heist that witnesses lead to failure.

Yeah, but a kid? You'd think that would be against Mike's code, since he has a granddaughter and whatnot. Besides, in the preview for the next episode, it looks like Mike is really pissed off at him.

I think ultimately, Todd was just trying to impress them. As OnePiece said, Todd was under the impression that they were ruthless, when really they're not.

EDIT: I re-read what you posted. It's possible Mike did tell him to take care of any potential witnesses. Perhaps that's why he was carrying a gun in the first place. But I don't think Mike anticipated a kid being a potential witness, that is if he told Todd what to do with witnesses.

Yea I don't think Mike is ok with killing kids and he probably didn't anticipate one being out there in the middle of nowhere, but I can picture him pulling Todd aside and telling him to take care of any potential witnesses if Jesse and Walt are debating about it. Only because he was really adamant about there being no witnesses during the planning stages and he knows Jesse and Walt aren't stone cold killers (yet).

Mike did say he would do a background check on all the pest control workers, so maybe he found out Todd has a violent history and told him to take care of any witnesses during the heist. But like I said, I'm sure Mike didn't anticipate a kid being a witness. Todd may have been following orders, but he's a sick f*ck that would rather kill a kid than talk it out. I doubt the poor kid suspected any criminal activities, or he would have rode away.

And I ramble...
