Grady Featherstone
Hey everyone! I just wanted to know something... I live in Australia, and because of our stupid classification laws, the highest rating for games you can get is MA15+ meaning, that you can't get games that have strong adult content, hence they released a cut version of GTA IV here in Australia, which sucks..... Now I know that there isn't really a big difference between the cut and un cut, but if you're like me, and you always want the un cut versions of everything, you will understand where I am coming from!!!!!!!!!! What I am wondering, is, I'm thinking of buying GTA IV, but will I then be able to download an un cut version and use the product key from the game that I bought, on the un cut version that I downloaded.... (Technically this is not illegal, as I have bought a legitimate copy of the game, but just want the un cut version?????) Thanks for any advice!!!!!! -Grady

Thats why i get mad at cut things in games, like hot coffee. Seriously, naked pixels having sex ticked off ESRB. Oh well. Anways, you cant just use a product key, because the cut data wont be on the disk. Think about that. So you should buy the digital copy from steam instead and enter your location as USA so you get the uncut ESRB rated USA copy.

The thing is, the GTA that I saw in EB Games (Game Stop in the US I think!) has the episodes from liberty city in it as well.... Could I say use the product key from the cut version with a downloaded un cut version and an un cut no cd patch, as then I wouldn't require my stupid cut versions's disk........? Thanks! EDIT[ I've just been reading some more, and apparently they cut the censorship here in Australia shortly after it came out, because the stupid Australian classification board is so inconsistent that they let games like gears of war 2 through without a hitch, but don't like gta iv..... Which is stupid!!!!! They never censor any of the other grand theft autos or call of duty or anything.....!!!!! ] -Grady Edited January 4, 2012 by Grady Featherstone
nightwalker83
There was nothing cut from either version of GTA IV I've got. That is unless in the uncut version you actual see certain body parts?
Finn 7 five 11
They never censor any of the other grand theft autos or call of duty or anything.....!!!!! ] Well actually Prostitutes that would get in the car with you were not in GTA III versions for Australia, it was brought back in later, but for the first versions available in Australia they were cut. EvilDog77
Can you not just buy an import version from somewhere? It'll have a product key of it's own.

Magic_Al
IIRC the original console release of GTA IV was submitted with cuts to get an MA15+, but then TLAD also got an MA15+ without any cuts, and since GTA IV had no content more extreme than TLAD, subsequent releases including the PC version were submitted uncut and got an MA15+. This suggests either inconsistency by the ACB or that Rockstar preemptively made cuts unnecessarily anticipating a more conservative rating than they would have gotten. Clearly the uncut version of GTA IV qualifies for an MA15+ even though a cut version was made.

Grady Featherstone
I downloaded a patch for my PS3 copy of GTA IV one day and all the sudden it was uncensored. Yeah, I heard that you could download patches for console versions and that removed the censorness..... I take it that you live in Australia too then!!!!!!!! I just bought the glorious GTA IV Complete Edition for PC from EB Games yesterday!!!!!!! I knew that it came with a street map, but I didn't know that on the other side it has an awesome poster!!!!!!!! Anyway, it isn't cut, so now in Australia they are sellin un cut versions, but I did install the latest patch from Rockstar as well before I played, so I didn't test the original!!!!!! And on the disk, it has the UK rating symbol (red circle with 18 in it) as well as the Australian MA15+ which I thought was a bit strange!!!!!!! I think that it is just an inconsistency from the ACB, because as far as I know, they threatened to ban the game in Australia if Rockstar didn't edit it just for us. But then like you said, they released games with stronger content in certain areas without cutting them so they ended up letting on the full version of GTA IV! Here's a solution why don't R* do what the creators of DukeNukem 3D did in regards to the censorship lock. That is allow the user detremine whether they want to censor the game or not. I don't think that it is the players who want to censor it, rather the Australian Government with their stupid inconsistent rating system, but I gues it doesn't really matter any more as they have removed the censorship here in Australia anyway!!!!!!!!
