Alpha55
When it comes to mods, I tend not to use them however I decided to get back into IV but felt it needed some change so for once i've decided to add new vehicles however as i'm not use to it I don't know where to start exactly. I've downloaded aru's SparkIV tool and I have the vehicles I want however they only come with .wft and .wtd files but I have no idea where or what to do with them exactly Is there a nice easy tutorial for SparkIV or an easier way of modding without using a tool? (probably not) Thanks
XTREME0235
Welcome to the one of the glory's of GTA IV modding. The .wft and .wtd files are what GTA IV PC uses as the file format for vehicle models and its textures, WFT being the model and WTD being the texture holder. Before we get started I can't stress this enough about backing up your files, make sure to back up any files you are replacing because we will not provide anyone with any original files based on them stuffing up, or at all for that matter. Okay let's go. All you really need to do is open up SparkIV, click on the 'Open' folder up the top and locate your Vehicles.img file. This is usually placed in the default directory known as (C:)/Program Files/Rockstar Games/pc/models/cdimages. You open that file in Spark IV and a list of the GTA IV vehicles should pop up. Rename the wft and wtd files you downloaded with the car you want to replace in the archive. Example: rename subaru.wft and subaru.wtd to sultanrs.wft and sultanrs.wtd. Once you have renamed them, put them in a folder/location you can easily remember, the desktop for example. In SparkIV click on 'Import'. Once you've clicked on that a window should pop up asking for the location of the vehicle you want to use to replace, just locate where you put those WFT and WTD files and then click Open/Ok once you've highlighted both of them. All that's left to do now is to Save it and then Rebuild it, so once the import is complete just click 'Save' and then 'Rebuild' Once you have done the model relacing just go ahead and proceed with the Handling and Vehicle Ide files if required, this will prevent your imported vehicle acting differently to the way it's supposed to in terms of Handling. I hope this helps, good luck.
Alpha55
Thanks, that worked. I got my British fire truck and police car working (althought the police car one crashes IV). All I need now is British sirens (no idea where or how) and figure out how ELS works cos it's rather confusing lol Edited January 4, 2012 by Alpha55
