Take-Two names the quarter in 2012.

October 30, 2012

You and I know Rockstar is working on its next Grand Theft Auto in earnest, but there are so many details about the game we simply don't know. Today, at a technology conference in New York, Take-Two executive vice president Cindi Buckwalter filled in one blank by telling attendees that the next Grand Theft Auto will be released in the latter half of the fiscal fourth quarter 2004, several reports say. (Rockstar's fiscal fourth quarter begins on August 1 and ends on October 31.)

What she didn't say, however, was the name, where the next location is (Hollywood? Las Vegas? San Andreas?), what new features the game has, whether it's online, or answer many more high-interest questions that burn in our souls.

Take-Two CFO Karl Winters cautioned over-exuberance. He explained that while he is excited about the brand there are many queries as to how this next GTA that could even compete with the PS2 debut of Grand Theft Auto III. When contacted, Rockstar officials would not comment prior to deadline.

In the meantime, Rockstar is planning to publish its curious Manhunt, a violent gang-style action-stealth game in which the lead character is hunted down like an animal by bloodthirsty gangs. Manhunt is due November 18.

It's also recently released the Grand Theft Auto Double Pack, a $39.99 bundle including GTA III and GTA: Vice City. The same bundle will appear with graphic enhancements on Xbox November 4 at $49.99.

We'll have more on the next GTA when Rockstar decides to further unshroud the game from secrecy.
