KayO199X
I remember the man in the teaser trailer mentioning that he had kids. I'm not sure he said what age his kids were, but could this mean that children will appear in GTA5? I know many of you are thinking "Putting kids in GTA5 would be a bad idea because the media would scold the game for being a child murder simulator." However, there are many violent games out there that have children in them, and they weren't call out on it. That's because they made sure not to upset the media. There are 2 main ways they tend to do this... 1. Punish the player for hurting children- This was done in the first 2 Fallout games. You could kill children, but doing so would cause overpowered bounty hunters to hunt you down for the remainder of the game. 2. Make Children unkilliable- This is the more popular option. Games such as Fable, Fallout 3, and Skyrim all have unkillable children. This really bothers some people, but i don't mind because i would never harm a child in the first place. If GTA5 had children, i would imagin it would use option 1 or 2. 1. Harming a child maxes out your wanted level, causing police to kill you very quickly. 2. Children are only found in places you can't drive a car (on a playground, indoors, ect) and pointing a gun at a child causes the rectile to go blank and not fire (like in Splinter Cell: Conviction). 3. They could also go the rout of Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire and have children only appear in cut scenes. I personally have always dislike games that are devoid of children, simply because it make the world feel depressing and lifeless. Like I said, I don't mind game with invincible children at all, because i would never hurt a child. Lastly, it would be really funny to hear children talking GTA style. I have always found foul mouthed children really funny (that's why i like South Park so much). What are your thoughts on this situation?

KayO199X
The first two fallout games had killable children, but punished the player for doing so. However, the 3rd Fallout game (which was made by a different studio) had invincible children instead. Edited January 3, 2012 by KayO199X

CommonSeb
2. It wont work because we could throw a grenade next to the child instead like in all games that use this for a feature. I think we should be able to run them over and shoot them or blow them up and they would react like everyone else just without the blood. But after a while they would always get back up and walk away with no damage taken.
SGT. Johnson
I know this is slightly off topic but if the children are un-killable do you think dogs will be aswell?? I'd say so. Gents. We can't put everything that is realistic in the game (except through mods) because we have to be "politically correct" nowadays. By being "politically correct", we have to "satisfy" all the political parties, governement agencies, and activist groups out there (and requests for steak). Killing children is a no-no; same for dogs. How much trouble did R* get in for Hot Coffee? Take that and times it by 10 for killing children and dogs. PETA and mother activists would be all over R*'s @$$! Making children and dogs unkillable is a great idea, but in realistic terms, it lacks realism. However, if this were the only way to have them in the game, then I'd agree with the decision. Why do we want children and animals in the game? (This is just a pure discussion starter). Personally, I see GTA V as a more realistic genre; you can argue that all you want but it's my opinion. Since R* created Red Dead Redemption and that included animals, I'm pretty sure they will be present. Will they be killable? Hopefully not! As for children, the world of GTA is a satirical recreation of the US. Children are present in the US but R* would have so many problems if they were killable. Rather, since the game is rated M (17 and up) who's to say the "children" can't be 17 year olds and up? GTA IV had a college/university; I didn't see any college students present. You? Either that, or go with the idea of "unkillable children" provided above in previous posts. Edited January 3, 2012 by SGT. Johnson

GTAFan20
Do you want to see a kid fly away in the sky because of you throwed a grenade? Do you want to a drive over a baby and see it lying there? Do you want to see kids walking into the stripclubs? NO, no kids... maybe in the cutscene's but not outside cutscene's

Samsuxx
I agree, no kids outside cutscenes, because you make them in a way that wouldn't be stupid. Yeah, the playground idea works, but what about grenades? Or flying into them with a plane. Meh. It's just stupid imo. The scene in MW3 with the "exploding" girl was stupid, too. I don't like to kill a child, it's just...brutal. Imagine: You are driving and you hit a child yelling "Mooommmy!". Naah. Even now, without GTAV released, some Australian don't want to allow the game there. And then have the opportunity to kill children?! No, just no. But I have no problem with animals. Okay, PETA may do some problems but they have problems, too. Saying Mario is a murderer because of an outfit. COME ON! But, I don't hate them or so ^^
