Long_Haired_Boy
I find myself wondering why nothing out the ordinary occurs in GTA games. Like random suicides, hit and runs and shoot outs with policemen. I would love to just walk down a street in GTA V and watch someone get strike by lighting, sh*t themselves and run into a speeding car. RDR random events were brilliant so why can't they be in GTA V. What type of radom events would you like to occur in GTA V?

Hayze
The random events you listed don't exactly happen every day in life. GTA: SA had the random gang shootouts and car chases which were pretty awesome though. And IV did have those scripted events like someone in the middle of being pulled over during a race. But I am pretty confident they'll have random events along the same lines as RDR had except that they'll fit this time period.
showgunsam
Well, if this were Saints Row, then random events like the one you just described would feel right at home. I'm trying to be as realistic as I can about this... It would be hilarious if say you were taking a stroll through Los Santos and every now and then you'd see some white collar guy who's driving to work hung over as can be "from the night before", swerving into light poles and eventually running off the road killing a couple of unsuspecting pedestrians. Maybe sometimes said driver would slam his/her car into a palm tree in such a way that it either ejects them out the front of the windshield, or it simply kills them behind the wheel (which was indeed possible in IV). Not only would that be funny as hell, it would send a definite message to those players with a bit of a binge problem.

CommonSeb
Would be fun with some random npc skydivers\basejumpers. Even better with a few of them jumping in formation. One could join in or simply run them throug with a fighter jet. Nothing like having a basejumper stuck in your left jet engine
bscutajar
Can't disagree with this. Loved it in Red Dead Redemption and I bet it would be even better in GTA. Did not like it very much in Red Dead Redemption because they were too frequent and too repetitive and it ended up being cheesy. Seriously I don't know how many innocent wives I had to save from being killed or how many runaway thieves I had to catch.

Samsuxx
I liked those events in RDR, had many fun to torture the guys trying to steal my horse ^^ But I'd like to see that in a more expanded way in GTAV. Suicides and random fires would be nice. Or random shootouts and bank robberies. Or train/plane captures. There are nearly endless ideas. I would add a lot of more life into the world of GTAV. If they would have add more of them, I don't have any problem. In RDR there were about 10 different ideas, a guess. Making 50 of them would be fine. MrGlue
people fighting. I don't think I've seen two people randomly fighting on the street in any GTA game
mediocore
I think random civilians having an increased number of activities is a dead cert but I'm not sure about some of the stuff you listed. Having civilian reactions to your actions being different in different areas would be good. IE. in Ganton having gangsters coming at you unprovoked with a suppressed amount of police involvement compared to having cops and rent-a-cops all over you for anything suspicious around the tourist areas. Personally, I just want more of the scripted events from IV but with LOADS more variation.
Tipper
I agree with bscutajar, the idea of random events was good in RDR, but overused. I can imagine that the wild west was dangerous in 1911, but come on, you can't just walk into a small town without seeing a prostitute getting slaughtered, a shop getting robbed or a horse being stolen. It gets easily annoying after a while. people fighting. I don't think I've seen two people randomly fighting on the street in any GTA game In IV, it could happen, mostly after a car accident. Either two vehicles hit each other and both driver are the angry type or one hits an angry pedestrian who tries to beat up the driver, who will fight back sometimes. It's a rare occurrence but it happens (well, not to mention we usually drive fast so we don't pay attention to that) Edited January 3, 2012 by Tipper
Los Santos Pedestrian
A problem with so many random events in the city is just how much memory it would take to run it all. Even if they did spawn only when you arrive at that area, random occasions would probably be too much for something like an Xbox 360 to handle. tenpennyisplainevil
what about when you drive in Ganton, you'll have 4/10 chance to see a random event like robberies, car chases, etc. and even more chance at night. and when you drive in Vinewood, there's less chance to this. Look at RDR. Yeah, but most of those were just minor events like robberies on the street and stuff like that. A major event would be an arson in a building, or a bank robbery, or something like that. It takes up a lot more memory than just a mugging or a person being shot. A bank robbery would have to be partially scripted, like the bank robbers moving up to the register, the people inside getting on the floor, etc. That's why they removed two features in GTA San Adreas, which were reporters coming to a death scene and mechanics coming to fix a light pole if it fell over. That just takes up too much memory.

Long_Haired_Boy
The memory will be find enough to handle small events that make sense and should take into account the time of day and location. Its not like there random events happening all over the map at once. If they cut out all that random phone calls to go bowling and text messages well be fine. Like dead zones in the desert can free up memory for something like a satillite crashing. This is quite possible.
