redlad
Ok I need help converting a bike from Vice City or San Andreas to GTAIV. I can get it into 3dStudio Max using KAM's Script, and save it as a .max file But I need to know how to send it out to a workable format for use in GTAIV. I have tried to use GIMS but get the following error when trying to export i get: can't find "dev_model" parent dummy! Now im new to this so all i did was click import then try too export straight away.

aacclapd
bikes, cars, motos... have wft format, which means they are deformable of breakable. wft can only be created with Zmodeler, for now. open iv and GIMS developers are looking forward to support oft (open format of wft) so you'll be able to create them much easier than now. Zmodeler is the only program that can make cars, bikes... for now, but it is also too buggy sometimes. you just dont know where the fail come from I have tried to use GIMS but get the following error when trying to export i get:can't find "dev_model" parent dummy! you have to go to TOOlS>HIERARCHY manager and set model>node and put model name after exporting it. but it is useless to make if you want bikes to be handled and driven. cuz you can only export as odr, odd, obn, obd.(last two are collisions) and models are static only. (buildings, terrains, roads....) FOR NOW, try to learn more about 3dsmax and GIMS (open iv also, which is indispensable for importing openformats) .then you'll be ready when they support oft. kal-el5676
Could you by chance point us in the direction of keeping updated on when they do release that? Zmod is awful.
aacclapd
i dont have to. just download open iv and it will automaticaly update the build when needed. dont worry about that. an act like "OFT SUPPORTING" will be like: "obama plays gtaiv", a mad headline, so you wont miss it. visit this page to watch the open iv roadmap:http://openiv.com/bugs/roadmap_page.php
kal-el5676
Thanks, I'm new to modding IV but know 3 era vehicle modding well. I'm just a max user and between trying to switch to zmod and not really finding any clear English conversion tuts, I've been at a bit of a loss. aacclapd
yes, i've tried to learn Zmodeler too but the thing is, i dont get the exactly process to do it so i prefer to do it in 3dsmax when oft is supported. it's really wierd, but i find 3dsmax easier than Zmodeler
kal-el5676
So do I! Zmod makes me want to pull my hair out and I don't really understand the process either. I get the basics, but I'm still a bit confused about the materials/textures.
