GiantsPride
Hey all thought i'd just throw in a quick tidbit on why I don't think GTA V will be out until October/November the earliest. Max Payne is scheduled for a March release. Obviously a company like Rockstar will try and maximize (no pun intended) profits for the fiscal year. Stretching out the games increased MP profits tenfold. They know they will get the GTA V sales no matter what, and in fact most likely will get more sales waiting until OCT/NOV building up the hype. Obviously the pre-orders for GTA will be astronomical as always but why not try and break some records? Rockstar is cocky enough for that and why not be? This is your "most ambitious game yet". Slamman
It could come at that time, but to say it as "the earliest"? That upsets people here because of the time already spent on the game, now if it's more shared resources then we can attempt a guess at, it's likely to be true that the DLCs for RDR and GTA IV were too much work for Rockstar Games to be doing outside of GTA neXt, so Five was sped up in the production by halting more DLC, and limiting RDR growth at the moment, both on PC and a successive title. I think it's just having so many people to make quality games, they can't do everything we'd like to see in a short span of time. It appears that a 10 year console life cycle is required to make games of these stature
grope_4_that_date
October makes the most sense. Rockstar won't talk until after Max Payne 3 (March). That gives six months (April, May, June, July, August, September) of hype for GTA5.

I doubt that will happen though because they will want the game on there yearly statement. October/November makes a ton of sense. They will sell tons of games right through next Christmas into the new year.
Vice Beach
Congratulations, we're all impressed with your degree.. But this forum is mostly 15 year old snot-heads with snarly braces who wear Dragonball Z button up shirts and most of us came to that same conclusion 2 months ago. mubd
I've got a PhD in Rockstar Studies and I can very accurately predict that GTA V will come out on the 25th of March, because I said so.

dderrrp
Releasing GTA V and MP3 at the same time might create the "double orgasm effect" wherein, as I'm sure your aware of, will cause both games to sell substantially more.

Finn 7 five 11
But what if the game is like done... say next month? They create the games on a schedule, they would not finish a game so far ahead of schedule that it sits around becoming dated until release date, it would only be completed next month if they planned it that way. Slamman
There's always something to do on a game, whether coding or testing, or setting up the graphics and packaging, it's never TRULY done, kiddos
GourangaMaster
For a business major you offer no further insight than repeat what has already been regurgitated countless times in dozens of posts and threads. With that in mind i see no purpose in this thread other than a attempt to somehow display your expertise in business, which seems fairly poor, considering all you did was state the obvious. Zip87
I'm studying in the medical field and I can confirm your predictions, that if you shoot an enemy between the eyes, they will most likely die. By my logic this will also apply to pedestrians. You're welcome
Slamman
If you shoot them in the knee, however, with an arrow, they'll likely have to succumb to some boring life within the virtual World and talk of their past glories to anyone who might happen by?? Meezarawcks
Here is a crazy idea. How about there are other months in the year apart from May and October. What about a summer release? How come we are overlooking June, July, and August?

Forzum
To be honest, I think October release makes least sense. It has to come between May - July Like I said before: Releasing GTA V in October would probably cause a lot more negative sale effect on GTA itself than GTA would cause on Max Payne 3 by releasing it in May. I mean most of the biggest games arrive in Q3-Q4, Call of Duty, Halo, Battlefield, Metal Gear, and probably many more, and that would draw focus away from GTA by much more than GTA would draw away focus on Max Payne 3. So releasing GTA V "early" will help their sales on it a hell lot more than releasing it late. And don't tell me that "gta will be bigger than cod" etc. I don't care. The point is that CoD is right now the biggest franchise in gaming, and it has wayyyy much more eyes on it than Max Payne 3 does probably same thing with Halo 4. The best times to release games are between March - July and September - December, and GTA V will no way in hell come out that late since Take Two's fiscal year begins in April 2012, and company's wants to have their biggest title around the beginning of the fiscal year. And April 2012 is even AFTER Max Payne 3 is released. And then there's always this one: Rockstar ALWAYS plan to release a game 6/7 months after the first official trailer, and "6/7 months is to early", this game has been developed since 2007. They would never wait almost a year without a delay.
Slamman
...Seems, however, they're stretching this WAITING game out so that it seems more or less, set for a FALL 12 release after all
DiepekeelGTA
As the commander in chief of Janitorial operations at several Rockstar branches, I can confirm your prediction date is wrong.
jjwilson
So they wait until the end of the year where the is a new COD, Assassins Creed, Fifa, WA shooter etc, they would lose sales if they wait until then.
mulder84
To be brutally, brutally honest, I'd rather they not release the trailer last Nov. Not that I don't like it, but by doing so they actually sparked up hopes that GTA V will arrive next year, maybe May? Or June? July? ...? Before the trailer I was actually looking forward to getting Max Payne 3 even though I didn't play any of the previous MP games, simply because they're from R*. Now even though maybe I'm still probably gonna get MP3, I can't wait for R* to get over it and really promote GTA V (and in the meantime hang around in this blasted forum everyday ). So yeah, even though I'm really, really hoping for a May 24 release, over-analyzing the trailer like some fortune-telling tea leaves, most probably we'll get a July-Oct release. Oh, and I ain't any business/medical/janitorial major, but that's just my two cents' worth.
paced
You make a good point, business major, but I still don't see why R* would choose to release the trailer so early, and how they never plan to release games that long after the announcements. tenpennyisplainevil
its May... all the 2405 references in the trailer (but also could be referring to Dan and Sam Houser's birthday) RDR, MP3, GTA IV are all released 7 months after the 1st trailer (IV was delayed, but was planned to release 7 months after) 7 months after November is May there's probably more that i'm forgetting.
