seany_bizzle
ok so i used a site called canyourunit.com before i bought gta 4 and it said my system passed with flyring colours so i proceeded to buy the game. once im in the game first thing i do is go to the graphics and wack everything to the maximum level. where it says how much of the graphics memory is being used at the bottom it says im using just over half of what i have available. so if this is the case then my laptop is only needing to use half its graphical resource thus should play very smoothly on max settings? but this doesnt seem to be the case when its on full the game tend to run very slow as if it cant handle it : / so i had to turn down a few settings to high which now runs pretty good still a slow down here and there depending on my sorroundings. why is it this happens with me? is it the sheer size of the game or are the specs of my laptop decieving me? and any tips for gaming performance? i have my Nvidia settings onto performance over quality. and for anyone curious these are my specs Processor Description : Intel Core i7-2760QM Processor Cache : 6MB Clockspeed : 2.4GHz Manufacturer : Intel Memory Description : 2 X 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz Memory Speed : 1333Mhz Harddrive Description : Seagate Momentus XT 500GB Hybrid SSD SATA Hard Drive Interface : SATA Technology : Solid State Hybrid Optical Drives Description : SATA DVD Writer Graphics Description : NVIDIA GT 555M 2GB DDR3 Graphics Chipset : 144 Shaders CPU Clock 590Mhz Memory Clock 900Mhz Shader Clock 1180Mhz Bus Width 128Bit Bandwidth 28.8GB/s Texture Fill Rate 14.2GT/s
.Olbricht.
Vidmem' usage isn't an accurate benchmark to determine the game's performance. So are "canyourunit" sites. The latter just sort of gives you an idea of your rig's capabilities but you shouldn't rely on it too much.
Exxon
I have about three quarter of my memory left (got a 2 GB card too) and my IV often runs like crap. IV is very heavy on the CPU, so you should lower the graphics to medium/high, but especially lower the sliders (around 25/25/25/0) or lower for even more performance
