ikt
Goodday gentlemen, I have been having this problem lately. All DirectX 9.0c or lower games have this problem when running fullscreen. It's not your normal defective monitor flicker, it looks like stuff isn't rendered right anymore. In GTA IV just the HUD disappears, but in GTA VC also cars and effect textures disappear and reappear along with the flicker lines. I have updated DirectX and my drivers, but the problem still isn't gone. It's getting REALLY annoying and it rapes my framerate too. 15FPS in GTA VC. It runs just as slow as IV does. Core 2 Quad Q8300, 2.5GHz 4GB DDR2, 333MHz Sapphire HD4830 512MB: I overclocked this card but even with stock clocks/no overdrive enabled it still happens. But since both textures and geometry disappear and only in fullscreen with Dx9.0c games or lower, this can't be a hardware problem? Temps are normal/cool. Wolf68k
To eliminate the the card as a possibility you'll need to use a different card. If possible another ATI card using the same drivers. Is this happening only in GTA games or are there other games that this sort of thing happens in?

Strangely enough CoD4, which uses the same engine as MW2/MW3 doesn't have any problems at all.
Slamman
I had GTA flickering, it was an SiS card for graphics, with 64 MB vRam, and I think it just wasn't geared for gaming, I also have happened upon two nVidia cards that gave me hampered graphics, wasn't just during games, but they can go spotty
friendly luggage
Did this flicker suddenly appear after installing something? Are DirectX10 games ok? The other thing is you could do is remove your drivers and have a fresh install.
ikt
I'll try removing the drivers. This problem has just occured lately, I can't recall doing something special. BF3 doesn't suffer from this problem and neither does Crysis, but Crysis 2 does... Does it support DirectX10? Otherwise it's running on 9/11 Edited January 2, 2012 by ikt
anus
I've had sh*t like this happen when I updated my drivers (I run ATI too). The best thing to do is to roll back to the previous version and see if it does the same thing.
ikt
Great, after completely deinstalling the drivers (also using device management) it's running normally again. Thanks!
