I wouldn't say so. You're best off keeping Windows XP on it until you get a new computer.

I'm getting a tablet PC for Christmas, which only has Android 2.2 on it. sad.gif

Tabets cost around the same price as a decent laptop or desktop.

You can ask who ever is buying for you to grab a desktop as they're more powerful than tablets.

Tablets are not computer replacements as they're functions are severely limited.

It's like those who buy netbooks thinking a $200-300 can do everything until they found out, it's a total

waste.

Here is a nice new build decent build that can crush any tablet that's currently on the market.

AMD Phenom II X4 960T Zosma 3.0GHz $124.99

ASUS M5A97 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX $94.99

CORSAIR Vengeance 4GB $28.99

SAPPHIRE 100328L Radeon HD 6770 $109.99

HITACHI HDS721050CLA362 (0F10381) 500GB 7200 RPM $59.99

SAMSUNG CD/DVD Burner $16.99

COOLER MASTER Elite 430 $49.99

CORSAIR Builder Series CX600 V2 $69.99

$555.92

A typical tablet starts out at $500 and goes up... way up

I'll have to agree with this. It's a very common misconception. A friend of mine bought a $150 netbook thinking he didn't need a laptop. He later figured out it had no disc drive, 512Mb RAM, a GPU about on par with an average cell phone, and he couldn't change the desktop background.

If you DO specifically want a tablet over a desktop or laptop, Androids are great but you'll want windows if you want to play any of your PC games.

Netbooks are for people like me that already have amazing desktop rigs, adequate laptops, but want something to browse the web without consuming 200 watts, go 8 hours without recharging, and not take up a lot of weight/space. I did throw 2GB into my netbook though, and it's VERY easy to change the desktop background, with the right program. Though, I'm running Windows 8 on it now.

It's certainly not a replacement for a desktop/laptop, more of a compliment.
