darthYENIK
Yeah. King Kong could have been a really good re-make of a movie I and millions of others love. But it's at least 45 minutes too long. I wouldn't mind the time on the island as much if it didn't take so long to get there.
Iminicus
My favorite mistake with The Hobbit so far, filming at 48fps and being told it looks atrocious.
darthYENIK
I hate how 48fps looks. There's something unnatural and unsettling about it. It looks like a cartoon. That is something that might turn me off from these movies.

I doubt my local theatre will do it considering the cost and they just brought new projectors for 3D films. Wellington and The Hobbit
Chunkyman
Lol, Am I the only one who likes this? I think he will do a good job, even though The Hobbit is a bit short for 3 movies worth of material. It's funny, people raged about the LoTR films cutting too much content from the book. Now the Hobbit is going to have too much content and people are pissed about that as well. Otter
Looks fun! Why 3 movies, and why 48 fps, I don't think I'll ever understand. But looking forward to it.
Marlowe.
Feckin' awesome. Wish I could revert back to ten-year-old me to watch this - he would have enjoyed this more than Fellowship.

Vanzant
Never seen a Lord of the rings movie. This is a prequel and Amy wants to drag me to this Hobbit movie, should I watch the LOTR movies or first or something? Or can I get by with just having to sit through this in theater? Vanzant
Thanks Indi. I might watch them after watching the hobbit depending on how well I take to this film.
darthYENIK
Just went to Denny's for breakfast the other day, and they have a "Hobbit inspired menu". My favorite item was "Radagast's Red Velvet Pancake Puppies". They also had Gandalf's Gobble Melt.

darthYENIK
Did all the meals sound sexual? I think there was also Bilbo's Berry Blast and The Ring Burger. So yeah.

darthYENIK
Is that Beorn at around 1:20? Anyway, it looks good. To answer my own question. That was Radagast, who after seeing the few shots I've seen of him makes me fear that they are replacing Beorn with him. They're going to pull a Tom Bombadil on Beorn. Typhus
Just seen this and was absolutely amazed. I understand that people here won't want it spoiled, so I'll try to keep this as breezy as possible: - I was glad to see that they didn't make Radagast too sympathetic. In the Fellowship, he simply allows Gandalf to walk into a trap, too apathetic to actually act against the evil flooding Middle Earth. And in this film he is likewise pathetic. A babbling, cowardly simpleton. They got his character absolutely right. - One of the villains, an orc called Azog, is outstanding. Weird as it sounds, I walked away respecting him. An absolutely fearless opponent for our heroes. - I was really happy to see Saruman return. The character is portrayed as merely possessed of a vague egotism rather than the villainous monster we see him become later.
Artful.
I watched it yesterday and I was impressed by the film. My only qualm is that it is not true to the book. Other than that though I liked it.

NCONiall
Saw it today, absolutely loved it. They didn't deviate that much from the book; for me the most noticable change was the story behind Azog. In the book Azog was killed in battle and his son seeked revenge, in the movie Azog survives and replaces his son in this role.
Rown
I saw it today with some friends. Despite having to watch it with those awful glasses I enjoyed it. I liked the opening with background on Dale and Erebor and just the Dwarf flashbacks in general were a nice touch. Though the Radagast scenes kinda threw the pacing off I thought. I understand why there were there, since the White Council & Dol Guldur are things in these movies they needed a way to set that up. @darthYENIK: Beorn is going to be in the second and third films. I was worried about that too, since they introduced Radagast and he was looking an awful lot like a Beorn character with his nature-mindedness.
